DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 13 August 2013 Posted 13 August 2013 You allow yourself to be walked over if you don't seek to question things, casting a blind eye can be dangerous if you do it too often. To be honest I get bored by it as well at times but it's an important topic IMO, it doesn't hurt to raise it every now and again. Admittedly this time round has been particularly dull and I apologise for that but I don't apologise for being the one to question something that should be questioned. Give it a rest geezer, your.e heading towards a high cliff!
Benditlikevydra Posted 13 August 2013 Posted 13 August 2013 You'll have to make a new account, you have to make thousands of posts before you can change your user name Ok, thanks, saves me trying again! I may leave it in anticipation of us going up and him coming back to us next season
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 August 2013 Posted 13 August 2013 You a baggies fan? Weird username if not.
Bayfox Posted 13 August 2013 Posted 13 August 2013 It's true, Harry is one of us now. Keep him occupied over there won't you.
SystonFox Posted 13 August 2013 Posted 13 August 2013 WatfordTalk is really boring me now. On another note. Scott Parker to QPR.... I believe I called that over a week ago. Was always going to happen. How can I search my own posts?
Dan Posted 13 August 2013 Posted 13 August 2013 To be honest if you put *insert over-rated Englishman on silly wages* to QPR then there's a very high chance of you being right. What a joke FFP & Parachute Payments is. How can you POSSIBLY have two rules in place that completely contradict each other?

And to the lad above Scott Parker should rip this league a new one. Him and Barton linking up? Crazy!
Harry - LCFC Posted 13 August 2013 Posted 13 August 2013 I may come back, particularly as Harry is now "threatening" to put something together and getting very friendly with your Forest rivals on their Forums. (he's calling us a "bunch of ****ing cheating ****ers!"). No problem with that, so long as he is honest, checks his facts rather than just use the crap he has used so far. That was meant sarcastically. It's true, Harry is one of us now. Which one are you btw? Huxley?
Leicfox Posted 15 August 2013 Posted 15 August 2013 Blackpool sign Ricardo Fuller on a 1yr deal with an option for a further year.
MC Prussian Posted 16 August 2013 Posted 16 August 2013 To be fair to the Watford fans, whilst I don't necessarily agree with the way their club have gone about things, they have set a precedent and there is nothing to stop us or any other club following suit in an attempt to side step FFP. I mentioned during the close season that this was an option open to us with the acquisition of Army FC, although clearly so far the club have either decided only to use that option as a last resort or haven't considered how such an association could be used to their benefit. Either way, should the owners become desperate they certainly have the resources and associations to replicate the Watford model in order achieve a similar outcome. You can't really compare the top Thai football league with the level of football played in the Serie A or La Liga. Also, transportation costs could amount to quite some money - unlike players shipped around within the European boundaries. If at all, we'd have to be the feeder club of a bigger organisation in one of Europe's best leagues.

I believe the really cynical way would be to have the player officially signed up to Army FC with their wages officially paid by that club; they would then be loaned to us without ever playing a game for the Thai club, or indeed setting foot on Thai soil. With King Power owning both entities that could happen the same way as the Pozzos as have with Watford. Army FC could be run by Top with LCFC being run by Vichai. If promoted to the Premier League where FFP no longer applies, they would be involved in a 'free transfer' to Leicester City. I'm not advocating this approach as it is very clearly unethical, but it is a more blatant way of circumventing FFP than that which Watford have used to their advantage.

I can see this being a potential asset to a club like Leicester - but at the very end of the day, one still has to come up with the money to pay the player's wages. It would save us money, no doubt about it. However, if we are to compete in the Championship emulating the Watford Model, young talent or established players from Europe's top-level clubs had to come our way.
CrawleyFox Posted 16 August 2013 Posted 16 August 2013 Despite Derby getting a good win away at Brighton I fancy us to to get at least a point tomorrow. I've been looking on Marathonbet's site and they seem to have pretty decent odds for the Championship. Defo recommend them.
SmithyFox12 Posted 16 August 2013 Posted 16 August 2013 Blackpool have re-signed Nathan Delfouneso on a six-month loan. Granero has left QPR, joined Real Socieded on a season-long loan. Formica, the Blackburn striker, has joined a Mexican club on a permanent deal.
RedHux Posted 16 August 2013 Posted 16 August 2013 Meanwhile as I'm sure some of you may already know, Forest have signed a deal with Al-Jazeera meaning they can screen most of our home games other there in that middle east.
morris1234 Posted 16 August 2013 Posted 16 August 2013 Fed up with turning on sky sports and seeing the ONLY talk of transfers below the premier league being QPR! P15$ off and just call it the premierleague w4nk fest! Grind my gears thread....where art thouuuu

Good business tbf. If clubs want a way of dealing with the financial restrictions then finding deals like that is a great way of doing it. Any idea of how much that will bring in?
Fox92 Posted 16 August 2013 Posted 16 August 2013 Doncaster winning against Blackburn; Robinson on his debut. Any idea of how much that will bring in? No idea but I'm guessing a good few quid and possibly the reason Fawaz was desperate for a middle eastern sponsor (which didn't happen). It's another revenue stream which can't hurt.....and it means streaming matches will be plentiful this year.
Guest Col city fan Posted 16 August 2013 Posted 16 August 2013 The QPR situation is a shining fookin example of where parachute payments are in direct odds with FFP. Whoever decided those rules need to be sectioned and admitted. If 'uncle arry' don't go on to win this division at a canter then something is very very wrong. I can't remember seeing a squad as strong as theirs in the Championship for many years, if ever?
Essington blue Posted 16 August 2013 Posted 16 August 2013 WTF has Zola ever done as a manager? Shit at West Ham, suspect at Watford. If he doesn't go up this season he'll have had a nightmare. Why is he suspect at Watford? What's suspect about getting your team to play some of the most attractive football in the league. & how he will have had a nightmare if they don't go up this season is comical. Have they had the resources that Pearson has had the last season & a half??? If Zola had been managing for around another 5 or 6 seasons & was still managing in the same league getting knowhere & generally being stale, then you could say that he's no better than Pearson. Lets be honest, Watford have started the season same as last & unfortunately, so have we!

Agree with you that Zola's done a good job but they've had easy access to better players for lower 'prices.' He still had a job on to get that team playing together in a short space of time but the players themselves were of a higher quality than ours.

But if Pearson did have access to udinese's b-side as Zola has, he wouldn't know quality if it smacked him in the face. The best chance we have of doing anything this season with what we have is to play Marshall or knockaert in a floating role, but we all know he will keep playing either 2 or 3 central midfielders who play the exact same way together!
