Fox92 Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 I agree, Fryatt would be a great signing, especially at 800k. He does have the ability to chip in with goals at this level, he got 15 for Hull the other year.
Kitchandro Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 Fryatt is better than Barnsley but I wouldn't really want him back. And he was never a natural finisher.

I don't want Fryatt back, but he was the most natural finisher we've had at the club for a long time. Before him it was Dickov.

He scored a decent amount of goals at this level (eventually) but he's not a natural finisher. He missed plenty of 1-on-1s and didn't really have a killer instinct, partly because he was too slow, both running and on the ball. Don't get me wrong, he was a good finisher when he was on form, but he wasn't a natural. There's a certain je ne sais quoi in a natural finisher and when I watched him he didn't have it IMO.

The clearest evidence of his natural finishing, I think, came in a Hull shirt (when we beat them at home). One on one with the defender he somehow managed to squeeze the ball past Kasper. It he had had real pace, Fryatt would have been a Premiership striker IMO. I always thought that. Very very quick brain, unfortunately not fleet of foot. That's why I wouldn't want him back now. I want to see the team attack with pace and with two quick men up top.
ScouseFox Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 He was never a natural finisher. Took him 3 or 4 good chances to score almost every time. He was brilliant in League 1 because we regularly gave him 10 good chances to score in a game so he could bag a couple no probs. I'd back myself to bag a couple at that ratio. I liked Fryatt quite a bit but natural finisher he was not.

ADK Posted 21 August 2013 Author Posted 21 August 2013 We don't need another striker as much as I like Fryatt. I also feel like Vardy is very similar

I liked Fryatt quite a bit but natural finisher he was not. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one mate. I personally think Fryatt was the best finisher the club has had for many years. Much better than Beckford for example. He scored plenty for Hull in his first season and has that instinctive knack of being in the right place... The instinctive positioning thing. However, as I said, taking him back now would be a backward step IMO. We need to move on and give a chance to the players we have. Finally, Fryatt is nothing like Vardy. Vardy plays off the shoulder of the last defender and uses his pace. Fryatt is a much more clever striker than Vardy, but slower. A striker with Fryatt's instinct and Vardy's pace is actually the striker the club has been missing for years. Nugent comes the closest to possessing both, but is not the cool finisher than Fryatt was/is.
RedHux Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 What a way to start the day! Just watching SSN and they put up the Championship table and Forest are top!
Leicesterpool Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 Lets have us both up continue this rivalry into the premier league.
RedHux Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 Works for me!It'd certainly be at least two games to look forward to rather then getting tonked by the top teams and scrambling for a draw with the other ones.

RedHux Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 If memory serves we did well keeping it down to four. Also, wasn't this the game that pretty much ended the career in England of Robbie Findlay? Always felt a bit sorry for him. He seemed a good sort.

shade Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 ?????? They have Zola as manager & we have you know who!!! Look at the bigger picture! Voldemort?
Dan Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 http://www.footballforums.net/forums/showthread.php/300475-How-much Leeds fans prices at Ipswich on Saturday. They're having a laugh now. Absolute no-marks who everyone should boycott.
indierich06 Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 http://www.footballforums.net/forums/showthread.php/300475-How-much Leeds fans prices at Ipswich on Saturday. Are Leeds fans really moaning about how much clubs are charging for away games? They're the worst of the lot! Wouldn't surprise me if clubs just put up their away tickets for when Leeds come to town to retaliate.

Wouldn't surprise me if clubs just put up their away tickets for when Leeds come to town to retaliate. It's not that fans fault though. Just because Leeds charge a lot, doesn't mean the fans should get punished. Same applies to every fan in the world. Tickets shouldn't be £40+, especially at this level. Pricing is getting ridiculous now, people should really start to boycott but it will never happen.

Nugent comes the closest to possessing both, but is not the cool finisher than Fryatt was/is. Nugent is and always has been a better all round player including better finisher than Fryatt, I'm not out to slag Matty off as I always liked him but to say he was a cool finisher in his time here I'm afraid shows selective memory!Sure in league one he was fantastic but so he should be at that level, but the season before and after he wasted far too many chances to be called a "cool finisher" including some real clear cut chances in the last few matches before we got relegated for example that really cost us and I'll never forget the one on one against Cardiff at home in the PO 1st leg that he completely fluffed right at the end! All in all he's a good player but I wouldn't have him ahead of nugent or wood so good luck to him at Barnsley if that's were he ends up
Bilsthorpe Blue Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Same as tomtom, dont want to slag matty off he served us well but am i right in thinking that the season we were in League 1 wasnt matty compared to a certain rickie lambert who played for bristol rovers as the best scorer/striker. Seem worlds apart now Dont crucify me if im wrong!
