Championship 2013/2014 Stuff it in here.

No idea but I'm guessing a good few quid and possibly the reason Fawaz was desperate for a middle eastern sponsor (which didn't happen). It's another revenue stream which can't hurt.....and it means streaming matches will be plentiful this year. :)

The nips did that for us a few years back. Was great. I was even in Thailand for a month and watched every game, the thais thought we were the dogs bollocks when in reality we were dog muck

The QPR situation is a shining fookin example of where parachute payments are in direct odds with FFP.

Whoever decided those rules need to be sectioned and admitted.

If 'uncle arry' don't go on to win this division at a canter then something is very very wrong. I can't remember seeing a squad as strong as theirs in the Championship for many years, if ever?

The parachute payments are a red herring. FFP LITERALLY doesn't apply to QPR, Reading and Wigan, which is the biggest scandal of all. It's a fvcking joke, I actually can't believe it is being "implemented" in this way.

I remember that. Didn't you have those two chaps in Lcfc tops doing the intros and continuity stuff?

I enjoyed them. Turned over when the footy started, but they were great.

Agreed Harry!! But if Pearson did have access to udinese's b-side as Zola has, he wouldn't know quality if it smacked him in the face. The best chance we have of doing anything this season with what we have is to play Marshall or knockaert in a floating role, but we all know he will keep playing either 2 or 3 central midfielders who play the exact same way together!

I think everyone on the forum thinks that, me included! I think Pearson recognises that too and we'll switch soon enough, I'm thinking he wants to be solid while we adapt to the system, perhaps that unnecessary but that seems to be the plan.

I bet you we'll start playing more openly soonish, you might have to suffer through a few negative games though, sorry about that.

Why is he suspect at Watford? What's suspect about getting your team to play some of the most attractive football in the league. & how he will have had a nightmare if they don't go up this season is comical. Have they had the resources that Pearson has had the last season & a half???

If Zola had been managing for around another 5 or 6 seasons & was still managing in the same league getting knowhere & generally being stale, then you could say that he's no better than Pearson.

Lets be honest, Watford have started the season same as last & unfortunately, so have we!

Pearson hasn't had a load of resources, you're getting him mixed up with Sven. He's had to cut his cloth the last year, and before that he didn't spend bucket loads. I think overall he's done pretty well with this squad, it's talented but it's far from the best.

Zola's been handed a top squad on a plate. The one he has should be finishing top 3 and should be able to destroy the rest in the play-offs. Their resources are miles ahead of ours at the moment, as is their team.

He did retarded things like resting his best players for no reason last season, and lost points because of it. I don't really rate him as a manager, I think he's got the easiest job in the Championship. Little pressure, a no risk high chance of success strategy because of the ownership situation, and as I say, a great squad to work with.

The likes of QPR, Wigan, Reading and Watford are making a mockery of the rest of the league.

You can't really compare the top Thai football league with the level of football played in the Serie A or La Liga. Also, transportation costs could amount to quite some money - unlike players shipped within the European boundaries.

If at all, we'd have to be the feeder club of a bigger organisation in one of Europe's best leagues.

On face value, I agree. However, if we were to utilise Army FC in the same way as Watford have then suddenly the club becomes a real asset within the owners portfolio so long as the owners are still prepared to bank roll transfers for LCFC.

For example I mentioned in the summer that in theory there is nothing stopping the owners signing Messi (Hypothetical I know, and clearly will never happen) for say €200m as part of a transfer deal to Army FC on a 5 year contract worth £20m per year (£100m over the term of the contract). They could then immediately terminate this contract, with Leicester signing him on a free transfer on a 5 year contract, paying him £5k per week. The shortfall in his salary would then be made up by the agreed compensation package of the contract with Army FC, set out as £20m to be paid annually at the end of each year for a period of 5 years by King Power.

From a FFP perspective this type of deal would be in the confines of the rules whilst keeping LCFCs spending well within boundaries of the limits.

It would however mean that morally we'd be going against the principles of FFP, and that the owners would have to provide extra financial resource without any guarantee that they could recoup their investment if things didn't go to plan.

I'll be the first to acknowledge that I think all of the above is unlikely, however just wanted to demonstrate how the ownership of Army FC could actually be a smart acquisition with the same creative thinking that Watford have applied.

With a CB playing up front too.

Seen that, granted Miller and Derbyshire are not Bergkamp and Henry, but playing a 6ft 7 defender up top ahead of two forwards just sounds like a certain style of football being played? Obviously working either way

It was a bit odd but typical of a BD side. He does love a big lump up front and yes, we did hit a good few high balls but we didn't really get any success that way.

Any accusations or complaints that the show is biased towards us should be ended after last night. Will Hughes, super Cloughy the only focus.

Harry strikes again!

Scott Parker's move to QPR scuppered, he's now gone to Fulham instead.

And people complain about Pearson's way of handling transfers in the media!

Wut wut wut?!? :o

That's one of the easiest games they'll play all season. Glad Wigan are having a bit of difficulty, they seem to think they're gonna walk this league, Coyle especially. Bloke's got far too much sense of self entitlement.
