Monsell1976 Posted 17 May 2013 Posted 17 May 2013 A clear clash of personalities between the two of them, doesn't appear either have the time for each other.😀
Mack Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 A clear clash of personalities between the two of them, doesn't appear either have the time for each other. Which is a bit of a problem for Stringer, as it's his job.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 Just listened to the football forum where Stringer acknowledges it hehe
LCFC_Nige Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 Surely the best solution here is for Alan Young to become manager?
The Doctor Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 Surely the best solution here is for Alan Young to become manager? "Yeah Ian, the traffic on the way up was a nightmare." "Winning wasn't good enough, I'm dropping Wood - he never bothered to chase back and clear off the line. I'm signing Iain Hume - he knows how to run around like a headless chicken". "Aye Ian, love the new hat" etc.
LCFC_Nige Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 I'd actually be gutted if the relationship with Pearson forced Stringer to move on, I think he's top and it'd be terrible to lose him to 5live or somewhere. John Sinclair on the other hand...
Rocky Dennis Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 John Sinclair on the other hand... Can't pronounce Schmeichel or Schlupp, therefore makes a good team with Youngy who struggles with surnames full stop!

LCFC_Nige Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 5live? he's deffo not getting a promotion if he moves on! Dunno mate... he did some work down in London during the Olympics. He's a top broadcaster.

Chrysalis Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 It was the Watford home game in the league. Pearson didn't like his questions after the game, hasn't spoken to him since. then pearson is a wimp and needs to be put in his place. What does he want just the simple easy predictable questions?
MPH Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 If he's not upsetting people he's probably not doing his job properly or asking the right questions. Local issues can be as important to local people as national ones and if the local paper/radio is not prepared to ask important or probing questions within its community then there's not a lot of journalistic point in their continued existence. And Pearson would do very well to keep that in mind when he childishly starts crying like a baby and refuses to give 'the public' answers to questions set by 'The Evil Stringer'... " why is your team playing so badly at the moment?" That obviously isn't him doing his job properly and it is obviously not the right question to ask. That is clearly a very stupid question to ask and yes it probably upset Pearson, not because he was crying like a baby but That question alone explains why Stringer is working for local BBC radio and nothing national and certainly not 5 live..... I would not of blamed Pearson if he had punched Stringer in the mouth for that one. It really was that stupid to ask....

I despair with some of you on here..that's ridiculous. I assume this question was asked when City WERE playing badly? Many seem to like Pearson's 'directness'.. No pun intended. Why don't you also then like Stringer's direct questions?

The other option is he would completely slate his players in public.. Do you really think he is going to do that? Come on, use your noggin...

Skirt around the issue with a meaningless question or a bit of PC nonsense? One of the attributes of Pearson, compared to errrrrrrrr Sven was that he always seemed to give direct answers to direct questions. Sven's ability to never really answer anything very much, I always expected, but I didn't expect that of Pearson. And I think it's due to the daft feud he has with Stringer. If an interviewer can't ask a manager 'why do you think your team is playing badly/off form/not making any chances'? etc etc.. It's a sad situation. Stringer doesn't seem to want to dance like a puppet IMO. Good on him. Now I'd like Pearson to simply give him answers to his questions, and not wet his pants..

You're always sticking up for him. If he was better at his job and in particular adjusted his red top interviewing technique, he'd probably have a better relationship with Pearson and would likely get more information from him. If stringer wants to be a controversial interviewer then he's probably better getting in to politics or investigative journalism, not local sports desk shit.

I simply don't see Stringer as a controversial interviewer. Just out of interest (I don't know the answer) how many managers have City had that Stringer interviewed and DIDN'T seem to piss off? I think it's pretty obvious. There seems to be something about Stringers personality that Pearson don't like. Tough.. Get over it. And no, I'm not related.
ADK Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 Pearsons job is to manage the team and ultimately to win football matches. If he feels local radio are drumming up a negative atmosphere (i think he's right), then surely as part of his job he is within his rights to try and remedy that by using his ability to withhold interviews.

He isnt controversial, he's stupid annoying and does absolutely nothing to help his situation with Pearson. So again... what answer would you give if you were Nigel Pearson and Stringer said to you " why is your team playing so badly"?
LCFC_Nige Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 That you Ian? I was accused of being Pearson earlier!
