1. You clearly do care, the extent to which you're offended is palpable.

2. Morrissey is a tosser. Don't aspire to be a tosser.

I genuinely cannot think of a more consistently excellent set piece taker than Beckham, or a player with a better range of passing. I don't think there's anybody playing at the moment in the same league as Beckham in his pomp when it comes to these attributes.

And yet plenty of people will try to tell you that the "Golden Generation" was a load of hyped-up idiots charging around beating their chests.

Beckham and Scholes were 2 of the most technically gifted footballers of their generation, anywhere in the world. Throw in the likes of Ferdinand, Cole, Hargreaves and Rooney and it really is a crying shame that we never made it past the Quarters of a major tournament.

We had some fvcking great players 10 years ago. Now we're left with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ashley Young on the wings with Phil Jagielka at centre back. Jesus wept.

Yep, too right. When Becks announced his retirement the other day I had a watch of the Greece free kick & Argentina penalty which led me to watch the Brazil quarter final in South Korea. We should've beaten them. That was the year we genuinely could've won the World Cup. Fúcking Ronaldinho's free kick still makes me want to cry.

Cheers Becks! What a legend. He's going to miss football as much as it will miss him!

Can't find a pic anywhere but the scenes after the board went up for him to be subbed are ones i've never seen before. Whole game stopped as every PSG player took it in turns to individually give him a hug whilst he sobbed his heart out. Proper emotional shit. What a man.

This being one?

How we didn't win Euro 2004 I'll never know.

Had that goal against Portugal not been unfairly chalked off, I can't see how anybody would have stopped that side. Hugely missed opportunity with Rooney's injury and that inexplicable decision.

That side, on reflection, should have been making semi-finals as a matter of course.

I'd have pissed myself if the ref had booked him for time wasting.

To be fair, Wilshere is still coming through and is one of the more technically gifted players in the squad... Not sure about many more though. Read an interesting article highlighting 10 players with potential but some are still very young (Luke Shaw and Will Hughes for example).

Who let that dwarf in??

Coming back to the original topic, Beckham's had a terrific career spanning over 20 years. I won't remember him as one of the greatest footballers to ever have graced the holy turf, but as a great technician and dead-ball specialist with an eye for swerve balls and self-promotion (or maybe kudos for his wife for dragging him further into the popstar scene).

I wish him all the best, because in many aspects, he is a role model, a true pro and I've never heard of any major scandals involving him.

Having said that, can we have him for a couple of tutorials of how to strike a football during standards?

This surely makes it worse lol

I think it shows that she was willing to do anything for even a fleeting bit of fame, so I could well believe she made up the whole Beckham thing, although I don't really know, but if I had to choose who to be believe out of Beckham and a woman who masturbated a pig, I know who I would believe.

No need to disbelieve Beckham, he never denied it! Neither did Posh.
