21st Century Fox Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 Singapore airlines are my favourite airline. Emirates also I like mainly due to fond memories if 7 hours in the bar on an A380 from KL to Dubai. Nothing quite like it.
Libertine Dream Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 I quite like EK but then again I haven't really flown long haul apart from with them. Aurela Airlines was the scariest thing I've ever known. I had booked with MON but they were wet-leasing Aurela at the time, the plane was a rust bucket, the cabin disgusting, the crew unable to speak English and the landing was near enough nose down. MON are normally alright but when I booked I wasn't aware that it would be run by some Lithuanian company so I felt let down. If anyone remembers, it was an Aurela plane that didn't make the turning and went off the runway at BHX in September.
Jon the Hat Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 I dont mind code shares generally, although an Iberia flight vs BA is not always great, but when you book with a decent airline andend up with a ropey one that is out of order.
absolutelegend Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 I think they're rubbish, hence I don't use them (unless there is no other option). I also don't find them much cheaper than the more traditional airlines after everything is taken into account.

But in part that is down to Ryanair, they have been largely responsible for driving down flight costs across all airlines in Europe, if it wasn't for these budget airlines springing up then it would still be prohibitively expensive for many people to fly.

I kind of see your point, but I find the customer experience that Ryanair offer still to be considerably worse than that of their direct "budget" competition. I don't avoid budget airlines at all, just Ryanair.
lavrentis Posted 20 May 2013 Author Posted 20 May 2013 Thing is with Ryan air, it depends if you check in luggage or not. They offer some ridiculous prices prices one way with just carry on. Would be perfect if city were in Europe
Monk Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 I'm done with Ryanair, too many bad experiences. Easyjet are great though, fly them all the time on business and can't fault them.
Monk Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 Spoke to a pilot for Ryanair once and he said the wings on Ryanair jets are smaller so they can make more controlled landings and fit in to smaller airports. You mean they fly smaller planes? Their entire fleet is standard 737-800s.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/business-22593246 O'Leary is a good businessman.
Jon the Hat Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 I'm done with Ryanair, too many bad experiences. Easyjet are great though, fly them all the time on business and can't fault them.Frankly I can't be bothered going to holiday airports. Heathrow T5 BA is much nicer. And honestly for a max £100 difference, £40 of which I save on taxis I can't be bothered. And the late flights Gatwick to Madrid are always late.
lavrentis Posted 21 May 2013 Author Posted 21 May 2013 Hate Gatwick and Heathrow tbh, customs is always so busy, the machines dont even work and you have to go in another queue and it doesnt help we get same priority as EU passports
Libertine Dream Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Customs at most airports are pretty dire when busy. Ryanair's website is woeful aswell
whoareyaaa Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Flying with these next week to Spain I think as long as they get me there on time I won't be to bothered. Been with BA a few times good enough service although no plane has enough leg room for my liking, may try Virgin next.
JoeyB Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 The only people who have problem with ryanair are the people who don't follow the rules, when you book you click the terms and conditions so you agree to do what they say, everything you need to do are in there. certain airports - EMA, Leeds and bristol i think have an agreement where you can take an extra bag on board, but all the rest you are told to make sure you only have the one bag and the dimentions! they are one of the most punctual airlines and they have drove down flight prices, just wish they had a few more better destinations from east mids so i can use them again. Never had any problem with any airline i've flew with and a week on monday flying with emirates really looking forward to flying with them!
Dr The Singh Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 Flew from gatwick on sunday, the smoothest check in, borading etc. No queue's, so organised and smooth.
Jon the Hat Posted 23 May 2013 Posted 23 May 2013 T5 out to Madrid was fine on Tuesday, but heaving tonight on the way home. 15 mins to get through passport control. Taxi wasn't there either. Still it's nice to be back home.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 24 May 2013 Posted 24 May 2013 Of course, you could always go by BA... http://video.uk.msn.com/watch/video/plane-approaches-heathrow-with-smoke-coming-from-engine/2s7uqi8x6 No one is gauranteed a hassle-free 100% safe plane journey, even nowadays.
RonnieTodger Posted 24 May 2013 Posted 24 May 2013 Using these in August. I fear for my long legs, but luckily it's only 2 and a half hours. I take it that you should get on the plane straight away to secure a seat?

At least when I went, when Ryan air announced which gate the plane was at there was a huge rush to the gate to get in the queue
Captain... Posted 24 May 2013 Posted 24 May 2013 There website is cvnting awful to use too, I am always so pissed off with them by the time I have booked a flight, just the constant little traps to get you spend more money, the travel insurance is the worst, first you have to select something and the option for no travel insurance is at the bottom and you have to scroll down to select it, and if you accidentally select it (which incidentally you can do with auto-fill data which picks up your country and uses that) then you can't just go back and de-select it you have to start again from scratch, and you have to tick every fvcking thing to say you don't want to buy this that or the other, I don't want to buy a suitcase, I don't want priority boarding, I don't want car hire, I don't want to pay to enter a fvcking lottery to get this flight for free, I don't want an SMS (which costs extra, but you only see that if you click on the info because it comes off your phone rather than paying for it up front), I don't want to choose my seat, I just want to buy a fvcking flight. I'm going to leave a massive turd on that flight just before landing and not flush it.
Guest MattP Posted 24 May 2013 Posted 24 May 2013 Shit company Shit planes Shit flights willy puller runs it who openly hates his punters.
Guest Bilo Posted 26 May 2013 Posted 26 May 2013 Shit company Shit planes Shit flights willy puller runs it who openly hates his punters. It's false economy as well. Once you've been bent over for taking a crisp pack more than you should have done, you'd have been better off flying British Airways.
JoeyB Posted 29 May 2013 Posted 29 May 2013 Shit company Shit planes Shit flights willy puller runs it who openly hates his punters. Planes are pretty decent, have the youngest fleet in europe, the flights are good to! take it you just jump on the bandwagon.
