Haydos Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 But then so should Dzeko when Sakho flew in if Clattenburg believes that isn't foul and Dzeko who did go down pretty theatrically appeals, he should be shown a yellow card too. I thought the Dzeko one was a penalty as well. I'll use my earlier point again, Clattenburg again ignores the foul and bases his decision on Dzeko's reaction. I agree with you he went down theatrically but Sakho was nowhere near the ball, he impeded him in the area and his head (arguably) took out Dzeko's leg on the follow through. I can't see any reason that isn't a penalty. At the end of the day, how Dzeko went down is irrelevant, same as in the Suarez incident, both pens. remember when half the country (including a lot on here) claimed scott parker was a better player and leader than steven gerrard lol When did that happen? I can't remember anyone saying that. If you're referring to Parker having a starting spot for England that's completely different.
ScouseFox Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 When did that happen? I can't remember anyone saying that. If you're referring to Parker having a starting spot for England that's completely different. yeah when england were looking fooked and needed someone to step up and sort it out and we (eventually) chose gerrard as our captain despite a lot of people thinking scott parker would be a better shout. all you need to do is search the euro 2012 threads on here and see how many didn't even pick gerrard in their squad, let alone team, and how many chose parker © or something similar. not wanting to turn this into a "what steven gerrard's done for england" thread or anything annoying like that, just very glad roy had sense (and rodgers, too) to realise he wasn't one of the golden generation that needed to be told to retire after world cup 2010 like everyone said. 4 years on from when most the country wanted him to leave the england set up for good and be replaced by scott parker, he's going to guide his club team, full of mostly english talent, to win the premier league. just watched the highlights of yesterday's game, sterling's goal, great stuff. hart and kompany are up there with the best goalkeepers and cbs in the league (kompany in the world, maybe) and both got made to look right silly by one drop of the shoulder .
Grandad. Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 remember when half the country (including a lot on here) claimed scott parker was a better player and leader than steven gerrard lol Truly amazing really, Scotty Paker was aired on here all the time to be the new England captain because he was a right warrior. I thought the Dzeko one was a penalty as well. I'll use my earlier point again, Clattenburg again ignores the foul and bases his decision on Dzeko's reaction. But if the Referee believes it's not a foul becuase there is no contact and the player who has gone to ground has appealed for a free kick/penalty then surely they should be carded? As they have looked for a foul and the Referee hasn't seen one. Just really annoys me that it will always comeback to Luis Suarez. Nobody will even speak about his assist which is his 12th of the season and you put that along with his 29 League goals then it's some incredible feat. Especially how good the pass was through to Raheem Sterling. just watched the highlights of yesterday's game, sterling's goal, great stuff. hart and kompany are up there with the best goalkeepers and cbs in the league (kompany in the world, maybe) and both got made to look right silly by one drop of the shoulder . Hahaha! And people still say Januzaj is better than him. This is a massive claim but I honestly think there is no better 19 year old in world football right now than Raheem Sterling, the kid is going to be world class.
ScouseFox Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 yeah credit to sterling he's been top dollar this season. burst onto the scene start of last season but for one reason or another (got to his head, burnt out, form dipped, maybe mixture of all three) he failed off a bit. He was still a kid though. Still is tbf but seems to have learnt from it and is now a pretty essential part of a team that may well win the league, all at the same age as me . Madness. Think I said it on here at the time but I saw him in a bar after the 4-0 vs Everton in January and he was just sat in a corner waiting for the birds to approach him, not the other way round. Living the dream.
Soar Fox Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Liverpool could seriously be title contenders this season. They've got one if not thee best strike forces in the league, midfield looks solid and Mignolet will look a snip at £9 million. In the past few years they've always played very good against the bigger teams but struggled against the so called lesser teams. This season they seem to have changed that though and that's why I think they've got a genuine chance of winning it. We're not title contenders, we will go through a blip soon where we will slip up against the poorer teams in the League. Also a few players short, an injury to Gerrard, Suarez or Sturridge will set us back. People need to calm the **** down about Liverpool. They've had one of the easiest starts imaginable in their fixtures. Even United are, let's be honest, the weakest of the major sides. We'll see how good they are when they have to play Arsenal, Tottenham, City and Chelsea (presumably in reasonably short succession?) And like Albert says, they've a couple of undoubtedly class individuals but they're still several players short of a squad. Are Liverpool still not title contenders?

Grandad. Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Walshy me old mate, every Liverpool fan was in my frame of mind back in October, our objective this year was purely to get in the top four, that was it. We could never of imagined what has followed since them two defeats to Man City and Chelsea in late December. When this incredible 10 game winning streak started in the 5-1 demolition of Arsenal the bookies still had us at 25/1 to win the League. If only we hadn't bleeding slipped up against Aston Villa at home drawing 2-2.

They've been great to watch this season, watching both quite a bit of Liverpool and Leicester they are both very similar to how they attack teams at such pace. A lot of English players, a likeable Manager, playing good attractive football. I do hope Liverpool win the league.

You forgot the two closest similarities mate, both teams have keepers who don't like crosses and are prone to conceding at a set piece.
MC Prussian Posted 15 April 2014 Posted 15 April 2014 What's happening at Villa? The club has suspended two of Lambert's assistants, pending an internal investigation: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27039466

The club has suspended two of Lambert's assistants, pending an internal investigation: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27039466 I stated earlier in the season that the Villa fans would start to get fed up with Lambert.. they are.. the first cries of Lambert out could be heard on Saturday apparently. And Learner is reportedly looking to sell but to 'a custodian of the club' (whatever that means). Adds up to some apparent disarray at the Villa.

Matt Posted 15 April 2014 Posted 15 April 2014 C'mon West Ham! Personally despite laughing at many years without Arsenal winning a trophy and being on brink of winning the FA Cup (No disrespect to Hull but Arsenal should beat them) I think Champions League qualification is more important for them.
Guest MattP Posted 15 April 2014 Posted 15 April 2014 Looking at those run ins Arsenal look absolutely nailed on for fourth, still short odds but hittable for big punters.
lcfcsnow Posted 15 April 2014 Posted 15 April 2014 No hope of many goals here with Andy Carroll and Olivier Giroud as the lone strikers.
Unabomber Posted 15 April 2014 Posted 15 April 2014 Arsenal's options up front are so frustrating. It's pretty ****ing obvious they need a world class striker and have done for years (especially if they are playing him on his own)

Matt Posted 15 April 2014 Posted 15 April 2014 Arsenal 0 - 1 West Ham. It stays this way or get's worse.
Unabomber Posted 15 April 2014 Posted 15 April 2014 Nice finish, why don't they bin Giroud off and put Podolski through the middle and AOC where he was.
sdb Posted 15 April 2014 Posted 15 April 2014 Flanagan as well? I've been impressed with him, and he seems to have adapted to left full back because I always thought he played on the right. Might be a bit to early for him yet, he's still young but that shouldn't matter really. Massive fan of Flanagan. This WC comes a little too early I think but he plays with a maturity beyond his years.
