ScouseFox Posted 15 April 2014 Posted 15 April 2014 Nice finish, why don't they bin Giroud off and put Podolski through the middle and AOC where he was.
AjcW Posted 15 April 2014 Posted 15 April 2014 Makes me so angry that stewart downing is still a footballer. What a waste of space
AjcW Posted 15 April 2014 Posted 15 April 2014 Podolski.. 2 strikes in the centre forward position.. 2 goals... Arsene you absolute fool! What a wasted talent
Grandad. Posted 15 April 2014 Posted 15 April 2014 Giroud has gone up in my estimations with that celebration, class touch.
Stadt Posted 15 April 2014 Posted 15 April 2014 Giroud has gone up in my estimations with that celebration, class touch. What did he do?
Jimothy Posted 15 April 2014 Posted 15 April 2014 What did he do? Kissed the black armband he was wearing for Hillsborough, and pointed to the sky.

Unabomber Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 In the mail today it says that Man United will pay Luke Shaw £80,000 surely that is a ridiculous amount in terms of what he has achieved so far etc.

Dan Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 You only have to have one good season now and you're sorted forever. England are churning out a couple of decent youngsters lately actually. Take him and Barkley as examples. Yet I read that Barkley's linked with someone for about £40mil? Surely that isn't true?
Fox92 Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 Giroud has gone up in my estimations with that celebration, class touch. How good was his goal? His first touch was sensational.

The Daily Star linked him with us for £38million, not happening in this lifetime. I would love to see Barkley in a Liverpool shirt but it won't happen. Luke Shaw would be daft in my eyes to go to Man United or Chelsea, surely a club like us would suit him better, where he will be coached under a manager who will get the best out of him, Shaw should look at Flanagan, Sterling, Coutinho and Sturridge, all young lads who Rodgers has coached, took them to a new level and they can all go to the next level. Coutinho and Sterling I think can go even further. Barkley has the manager already who could take him to the next level. Honestly don't think Moyes or Mourinho could do that for him.

Definitely agree he'd be a better fit for Liverpool than he would for Man Utd or Chelsea. I was saying this about Barkley to an Everton fan yesterday that there's a decent case for him staying at Everton even if the top sides are interested. He plays regularly in a progressive side under a manager that seems well on the money when it comes to bringing players through. He disagreed and reckoned he'd go to Man City, doing the exact same at Everton only he actually wins things. I hope he sticks with Everton.

Yeah Man City will be sniffing around for Barkley, like most will. My only thing with Pellegrini is, has he coached a Man City player this season where he have seen progression in a player? Obviously this season was all about winning the League for them, so experimenting and bringing through youth wasn't really going to happen. Like you I think sticking with Everton for the meantime is the way for Barkley, playing under a manager who is attack minded, who sets up a team to win and a manager who will build a team around Ross Barkley in the future. Will Moyes, Pellegrini or Mourinho do that? No chance. Hopefully Barkley has a good family and agent around him along with a good head on his shoulders that can guide him in the right way and can hopefully show him that staying at Everton is the way forward.
ScouseFox Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 You'd think Barkley would look at jack Rodwell and just ignore any big moves if he wants a decent career.
Dan Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 Rodwell was the exact example I used. He countered it with Rooney Though in fairness Rooney left a far weaker Everton side than Barkley would be leaving. Grandad's spot on about development, but this is why I think the Premier League as a league doesn't help our national side at all. It is what it is (accidental Billy Davies) but it waits for no-one and it's that high pressure that clubs won't gamble on youngsters. It's like us with Schlupp. Are we going to be patient with him and let him make mistakes in the Premier League as he develops? I highly doubt it. Yet both Everton & Liverpool IMO get the balance between development and success at all costs spot on. Would Sterling be the player he is now if he hadn't been played that often last year? Again I doubt it. Said it elsewhere and I'll say it again but Liverpool & Southampton give me a little more faith in England's future. Both are exciting sides with a lot of genuine quality English players.
ScouseFox Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 yeah but rooney was different, he went to sir alex's united when they needed a new big name after losing beckham and only really having one proper striker in van nistelrooy. and like you said everton were a bit "meh" at the time. he was going there to further his career, play regularly for a team in europe winning trophies and get recognised on the international and world stage. barkley probably wouldn't get in a city team ahead of toure, fernandinho, silva, nasri or javi garcia. which would put him on a par with rodwell in terms of bench sitting or not even making squads. he'd get a lot more money, sure, but he'd not do much for his career.
Dan Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 Pretty much what I said to him. Leaving a different stature Everton for a weaker side in his position. If Barkley goes to Man City and he becomes a bit part player then it's going to be another added to the list of England's top youngsters who moved too early and never reached their potential. Is he even good enough for Man City? I've not seen enough of him truth be told, but heard rave reviews.
ScouseFox Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 like you i haven't seen him week in week out, i've seen bits on motd and the occasional 60 minutes of a sky game but not enough to judge properly. all i can go off is what everyone else says and that is pretty good. everton fans rave about him, they have done for years. tim cahill said something like when barkley was 16 and they played together in a reserve game (or maybe a training match) that he was the best cm partner he'd ever played with and presumably he's only got better since then. time will tell i guess but if he keeps playing games and is central to everton and martinez he could be something special.
Stadt Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 Barkley is really rounded for a player so young, he's a good passer, runs with the ball well, not a bad finisher, strong and fairly quick plus he's decent in the air. Definitely a future star.
Grandad. Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 I really believe Barkley is going to be world class, I think the kid is special. He has everything to be a world class footballer in his career, all depends on his head and who coaches him to get the best out of him. Barkley is a player who has to be playing week in week out, you will build your side around him, people on Merseyside and especially Evertonians compare him to Rooney around this age, he is streets ahead of Rooney, I know Rooney broke onto the world a lot sooner and was playing in two major tournaments for England at the same age Barkley is now but that is because England back then were desperate. Barkley has the lot, he is a raw talent. I would love to see him unleashed at the World Cup, just like we did with Gazza in 1990, Owen in 1998 and Rooney in 2004. Let him go and set the world a light.
Samilktray Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 Is Barkley the lad who broke his legs and went on loan to Leeds?
