It's not 'trouble' either really providing it doesn't get thrown. It's a bit of smoke in an open place.

Not really an open place, is it?

Smoke grenades are fvcking pointless. Fans just light them and throw them down. And all they do is create smoke. Never seen why people think they're good.

It's been an interesting game to be honest, Villa have had the chances to equalize.

It's been woeful. Spurs are dull, Townsend is the only player doing anything. Holtby, I'm not sure what he is, but he's not a footballer. Villa have just been toothless, never looked like really scoring.

Im amazed at how they're using Soldado.

Last season he'd have scored a shit load for spurs with Bale and Lennon.

Now they're just so slow in their build up. Soldado isn't one to hold up play, he should be on the shouldrs of the last defender but he's having to play like Nugent dropping deep.

It'll be interesting to see if they take Holtby off, bring Sigurdsson into the middle and play a 4-2-3-1 with Sigurdsson behind Soldado with the two fast wingers supplying.

You're right, yet it seems to be conscious decision to use Soldardo like that, because when Defoe has played he's been used more off the shoulder of the last defender, and has scored a few.

Would like to see Holtby come off, I'm no fan of spurs, but I don't like to see people stealing a living, which is what he's doing. Like you say, Sigurdsson or Erikson in the centre with Lennon and Townsend either side would work well.

That was an amazing cross from Townsend. Exactly where he should have put it but Holtby was just on the D waiting for it rather than running into the danger zone. He just stood there doing nothing.

If I were a Spuds fan i'd be livid.

He does that a lot. I made an effort to really watch him in recent games after not being overly impressed whilst I've heard a lot of praise from others. He seems to let the game pass him by. He'll just hang around the D waiting for something, with players just moving around him. There's no clever moves, no burst into the box. He's like a lost child on a train station platform looking for his parents, while commuters bustle around him.

Its hardly enclosed either mate.

It's more closed than open  :D

To be fair. those smoke grenades last a while. I'd be pretty unhappy if some knob let one off next to me. It's not like he's done it in the middle of a field.

Soldado - 2-0.

What did I say? On the last defender and he's just slipped the ball through by Paulinho.

Easy goal but great to watch.

Why has benteke been introduced only now?

Why wasnt he starting?

Slight injury I think, could be wrong though.

I'm not sure if the assistant referee made a mistake and the object was thrown in anger, or whether it was simply thrown and hit him, but I for one am very surprised a referee or assistant referee hasn't been attacked either by object's being thrown or someone running on the pitch, e.t.c.

It's happened to players in the past, it's happened twice down the City for what I can remember of the top of my head, Ian Walker and didn't someone run across the pitch and throw their season ticket at one of our many managers?

So i'm very surprised similar things havn't been done with referee, especially with silly, obvious mistakes they make.

Whether todays incident was anger with a mistake one of the officals has made I don't know, like I say I don't know I havn't seen the incident.

I'm not saying it's right or justifying these actions and don't want to see them happen just simply saying it kinda wouldn't surprise if someone did do such a thing, infact it's a matter of time imo.

Spurs never seem to deploy a striker on the shoulder, as a first choice.

Watching soldado today he's been winning it and holding it well but out wide. Townsend then whips it in and there's nobody anywhere near.

Was it bent who left spurs because he never seemed to play, albeit a long time ago, but still bagged a fair few?

Similar predicament to Defoe, especially toward the end of last season. Often bringing Defoe on toward the end he'd cause so much havoc just by getting in those areas around the 6 yard box and still scored a few.

Difficult decision though because soldado is brilliant. So do you go two up top and lose one of the many class midfield players spurs have at the minute? Not an easy choice.

Avb it seems has similar traits to mourinho in terms of playing with 1 striker and hoping the Attacking mids do the damage.

It wasn't thrown at the linesman, it was thrown onto the pitch but unfortunately hit him. Fair play to him not making too much of a fuss, others would.

Don't see the fascination with flares/smoke bombs etc, don't think they add anything. Unless done as part of a big display. Seem to get in the hands of morons in this country.

There's no way it was thrown in anger. It just wouldn't make sense.

The linesman was running the line in the Spurs defenders half and it's not like he made an horrific offside call Villa scored from or gave a soft penalty.

Just some idiot that celebrated his team scoring in completely the wrong way.

Fair enough then.

My point still stands by thinking it's only a matter of time before a fan lose's it with an official and runs on this pitch/throws something.

I fear for the day as I think all referees would strike and worry about the game's future, like the FA preach 'No Ref, No Game'...unfortunately it's true.

I do realise referees have been chased and even killed in recent times in other countries, I'm talking about the English game though.

I'm not convinced. It looks like it's thrown at an angle towards the linesman rather than a straight line towards the pitch.

Villa didn't play to bad, there just missing a good defence, a winger and a striker. So that's five players they need! the defence is appalling. Vlaar wouldn't even get into Leicester!

lol So they just need half a team then?!

Really? One hell of a shot if intended. Just think the idiot has thrown it without thinking where it is going.

They'd just scored so can't see why it would have been thrown directly at the official in that moment.

It's only a better defence you need, with Kozak, Abonglahor, Benteke and Weimann you have a decent strike force - certainly good enough for the top half of the prem. Maybe a winger but that shouldn't be a priority, the defence should be the main concern, signing young inexperienced defenders isn't going to solve any problems.

Fair play to the lino, he could've done what that line judge did at Queen's.

 What clean his bloody shin after he had a lump of wood booted into it from about 6 inches?!

Yeah cost he was faking it!
