Premier League 2013/14 Stuff it in here!

Wow, Sanderos' volley. I hadn't seen that.

I don't think getting any club promoted is due to 'luck'. Freedman obviously built Palace up before leaving, Holloway took that over and yeah ok they struggled at times, but he still guided them through the play offs - beating their rivals, a good side, in the process, which I don't think too many people expected.

Was always going to be a struggle in the Premier League though. The squad isn't good enough. Either way, you should be looking to beat sides such as Fulham, especially at home, and losing 1-4 must be slightly worrying. But that's football.

I think the 'luck' was that the others were so bad. The standard of the top sides last year was as low as I ever remember it being and whilst Palace did turn up when it mattered, I really do think they got promoted despite Holloway rather than because of him.

Adding to this they lost Zaha too, I think they'll go down with only the Derby side of 2007/08 being worse in the Premier League years.

Palace have had a good season on the back of four or five mid-table to near-bottom finishes in the Championship. Add in that two of their key players in promotion, Zaha and Murray, are either gone or injured and quite clearly they are a team lacking in quality, depth and match-winners.

They also stumbled into the play-offs, winning one of their last 10 or so, Holloway did it perfectly over three games in the play-offs.

To be honest, they seemed to lack some fight last night. Just caved in after half-time.

He's the luckiest manager I've ever seen.

He absolutely destroyed Palace last season in six months before Zaha got him out of trouble in the play offs, can you even begin to imagine where they would have finished had Man Utd not took pity on him and sent him back there on loan? They might not have made the top half.

He has won 15 from 47 since he he has been there lol A winning percentage on a par with Peter Taylor and Trevor Francis.

Relegated with a points total similar to Derbys effort.

Palace & Holloway just decided to buy a bunch of rejects, who failed at other Premiership clubs.

Thomas, Chamwack, Jerome, Bannan all not featured much or have just been plain crap for their recent side before switching to Palace.

They paid a ridiculous amount for Dwight Gayle, signed Jack Hunt from Huddersfield only to break his ankle first game.

Only signings I rate are Puncheon & Kebe.

I really don't like the guy, but I wouldn't say taking a team up is "regressing". Nobody knows how they would have done with Freedman in charge. Holloway got them through the playoffs, as he did with Blackpool, while we stumbled in the semis. Credit where credit's due.

Just saying, like.....

Finishing 5th when you took them over when they were top 2 is regressing.

Are some people seriously defending him on the basis he won 2 games out of 3 in the play-offs (one in extra- time)?

Defending him from what? Why does everything have to be so black and white, it's not like I'm claiming he's a great manager and I'm glad he's no longer in charge here. Just pointing out that they achieved their target last season, we didn't, fair play to them. If that's regressing I hope we can regress a bit ourselves this season.

I think Palace were stronger last year than they are this year.

Lost their top scorer and most creative player - doesn't help as you suggest.

Those 2 stunning Fulham goals would have really knocked any confidence out of Palace.

The team and it's form have got worse since he joined them. That's regression.

You are defending him, 'credit where credit's due' etc. Just because the team succeeded overall last season does not mean he did a good job. His record suggests he didn't do a good job, got lucky that he took over a side who were already high up in the table, then won 2 crucial matches.

Why should those 2 matches define the job he's done? It's not really right is it?

Well yeah, that's what you have to do. It's what we did when we last got promoted in 2002.

Clubs that go up can't afford to do anything more. Unless you're a club like Newcastle and West Ham that already had a better than average side when getting promoted.

Not necessarily, Swansea didn't do that - we didn't do that under O'Neill. That's what some clubs do, and sometimes it works out ok, but often history repeats itself and those players continue to be rejected from the Premiership through the trapdoor. Sunderland try it that way, as do Stoke. And both of them are struggling.

Some managers are good at picking up good young or expereinced players at bargain prices, and some aren't. There are different ways to adapt to the step up, Holloway's way is clearly failing him.

Swansea already had a half decent side, the likes of Scott Sinclair and Ashley Williams. It was slightly different when O'Neill was here, the League wasn't run by money as much.

Holloway's was maybe failing. But then again, I can't see Palace being a major attraction.

Yes they were decent and they weren't Premiership rejects. It was a side built without breaking the bank but full of talented hungry players. A bit similar to us, and if we went up I'd rather us not replace them with a bunch of has beens. We've already done that and got relegated.

I'm not sure how the Premier League being run by money has any relevance.

seems united fans are trying to get something started at Old Trafford. I think it was being trialed by the club...not sure, but i hope the fans try and continue on, OT really needs something and if the fans can do it there there is hope for everyone.

Yeah, Old Trafford is often silent. But then again, all the day trippers always turn up.

When United are away from home, they are brilliant.

So we had goal of the season at Selhurst Park last Monday (Kasami) and I think we just had save of the season at the same end with Szceszny's save from Jedinak. Unreal.
