Football Manager 2014

End of my fourth season, saw Dortmund had a vacancy, knew I'd get it so applied then offered contracts to my key players with a minumum release fee to foreign clubs of 10k a pop. Went to Germany and waited for them to accept the offers agreed before I left, then snapped up half my Vienna squad for a pittance.

I'm a bad nonce but that'll teach you not to give me more physios you Austrian turds.

After 7 hard seasons I've finally won the conference with Luton :vardy:

Congrats! They actually kept you on for that long without the sack?

You know when there's an 18 year old who is far too good for his age, that you're on the brink of signing, but you have a DoF who does your transfer deals for young players and offers them far less than they should be on (according to the game), it happens twice and when you finally take charge of it yourself, he doesn't want to talk to you - how long is it before he loses his attitude and wants to talk to you again should you have an offer accepted?

Because my DoF's utter incompetence is about to prevent me signing Dorin Rotariu.

You know you can change it so you offer the contracts instead right?

Yes I do, I just didn't realise my DoF would make such a cock up of things and then do it a second time despite me changing the responsibilities.

I'll live. We're walking the league.

Won Promotion with Brighton first season Via the Play-offs, with Ulloa top scoring.

20 mil budget to spend in the prem, with which i bought -

David Ospina (Free) - Now a 'leading premier league' player, quality keeper.

Nemanja Vidic (Free) - Wasn't willing to talk to me until january despite his contract ending in june, got him on a player/assistant manager to U18's contract.

Dan Burn (1.8m, with appearance add-ons) - Quality young center half, future vidic.

Giuseppi Bellusci (3m with appearance add-ons) - Already a 'leading center half after his first season.

Jesper Juelsgard (1m cash) - Still finding his feet, but looks a good back-up option.

Leroy Fer - Already a 'Leading premier league midfielder', very consistent 6.9/7 performer, crucial to any side.

Moses Odubajo - young lad, scored a winner against chelsea, but one for the future, and one i need to change my style if i want him to play more.

Orhan Ademi - After scoring 16 goals for the team relegated bottom of the bundesliga i decided to pick him up. Only scored 5 in 28 so far, but he is improving a lot, only 23 as well. Might loan him out if i can get my 2 striking targets in.

I usually play a 4-1-3-2

Ospina's a very decent goalkeeper. Got him for Lyon.

I have never had any success with 4-1-2-1-2.

Get Wijnaldum signed by the way. He was class for me.

Posted

I'm only ever successful with 4-2-2-1 (I.e 452)

Never managed a good save with any other formation bar one where I tried to recreate our 442/4231 from last season

You're supposed to have 11 men on the pitch

4-1-2-2-1 my bad

Or maybe that's why I was struggling so much...

You said you only win when you play 452!

Got offered the Liverpool job. Took it. In January. They are bottom of the league lol

Expectations to "avoid relegation" but the job is way bigger. Wages are ridiculous and are impacting who I can bring in (nobody). The goalkeeper is shit, literally League One standard, but I can't afford to bring another one in so I'm stuck with him and conceding shit goals.

Managed to guide them to, and finish the season, mid table. Got to the FA Cup final as well but lost 1-2 to Newcastle.

Got a massive job on of overhauling the squad now it's summer. Might spend a bit as well.

Posted

Thanks to a couple of miraculous results Brighton finished the season in sixth, clinching European football.

The summer saw a number of players leave, no longer deemed good enough by the management, leaving was club legend Gordon Greer. However, Mr Manager had now built his reputation to such a level, the fans trusted his judgement.

The summer saw a number of targets joining other clubs. The Clubs number one target, 22 year old Josef Martinez from Young Boys, was acquired for a small £3.5 mil.

Other summer acquisitions included - Aaron Creswell, Celso Borges, Will Hughes, Clement Grenier, and Fernando Forestieri.

After experimenting over the summer with a more 'traditional system', Mr Manager was concerned with the lack of football on display. Therefore, when the competitive season came around, it was time to go 'back to basics'.

After a comprehensive 5-1 Qualifying victory over an unknown danish side, Brighton were through to the Europe league knockout round, facing Swedish giants AIK, made all the more difficult by their opening 6 fixtures.

Liverpool(H)

AIK (A)

Arsenal(A)

AIK(H)

Aston Villa (H)

Man City(H)

Much to the surprise of management and players alike, Brighton managed to both qualify (4-1 Agg) and take a possible 10 points from 12 , after nicking a point late on against arsenal.

With Clement Grenier yet to play due to a broken ankle, and a back strain keeping leroy fer out for up to 5 weeks, Brighton were managing to be extremely successful despite missing their best central midfield partnership, being what is known in the business as 'Jameswatered'.

Posted

Grenier is superb. He's probably my best player at Lyon.

He won't fit in at the minute, neither will Fer.

For some reason Mellis is just tearing teams apart for the last 12-14 months. Whilst Borges, unwanted by west brom, and merida, unwanted by a small spanish side are just completely dominating matches.

Probably helps having Josef Martinez up top, check him out.

Posted
And then it arrived. A day never before seen for Brighton fans, european football - the group stage.

Dnipro, a side containing a couple of players rumoured to be linked with Brighton in the summer, were the visitors.

However, once again, they were met with a side that were more than a match for man city and liverpool in previous weeks. After just 37 minutes Brighton were three up.

A header from Giuseppi Bellusci, rumoured to be getting an italy call up, opened the scoring, before 2 cool finished from merida and ulloa put the seagulls infront.

Although, as with every other match i go 3 up on this game, the opposition came back into it, scoring their only 2 efforts, before ulloa netted the fourth and killed

the game.Allowing Brighton to rest Merida, borges and mellis for their next league match, whilst giving game time to will hughes, fernando forestieri and leroy fer.

The future for this brighton side is most certainly bright. With rumours linking the club with january moves for both mario suarez of atletico madrid, and carlos bacca

of sevilla.

Will probably go.....

How can i win  4 games in a row, including an away european tie and outplay man city and liverpool to beat them 1-0 and 2-0....then lose 4-0 at newcastle and draw 0-0 at newly promoted norwich?

I want the Liverpool job, but no bugger is taking me seriously. I finished above them last season with Brighton ffs.

Left Leeds and took over Millwall who were doomed to relegation with 7 games left. (8 points behind 21st).

Managed 4 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats to stay up after an 84th minute Scott McDonald winner against Charlton. Great stuff.
