Basingstoke Fox Posted 31 July 2013 Posted 31 July 2013 We had a half decent one when we played Leeds at home in March. Well it's the best one I've heard us do anyway.
Harry - LCFC Posted 31 July 2013 Posted 31 July 2013 If the club want to improve the 'match day experience' then it wouldn't hurt to whack this on the speakers five minutes before kick off. It would catch on eventually, may take years but it would catch on just as every other club song has. Needs persistence.
Tedders Posted 31 July 2013 Posted 31 July 2013 All well and good talking about it on here but the changes need to be made in the stands.... Chants carry around a terrace quickly, usually first time you hear it you usually listen and repeat to same speed/ rythem etc. what it needs is an airing by people sticking to the right speed etc treating it as a new chant as long as you stick to the right speed the people that race ahead will eventually cut back and keep in time, it takes persistence. That being said using foxestalk to say for example on the 5th minute of a certain game this is going to get an airing and give it your all to a slower speed will help as people in the Stands who read this understand the purpose and hopefully we have a chant that makes us stand out!
Zingari Posted 31 July 2013 Posted 31 July 2013 It was on the song sheet at the 69 wembley cup final .( community singing was still going then) I think that's when it first took off

'If the club want to improve the 'match day experience' then it wouldn't hurt to turn off the music five minutes before kick off. It would mean the fans could create an atmosphere, instead of having one artificially thrust upon us.' Fixed it for you Oh and 'Hey Jude' can **** right off as well, what an utterly dreadful piece of music to have associated with Leicester City.
Renart Posted 31 July 2013 Posted 31 July 2013 It always used to be sung at Filbert Street but much slower. I'm not sure when it got sped up but when it does get an airing it usually ends up as an embarrasing garbled mess with everyone trying to get to the end as quickly as they can. It is the one song I truly associate with the club. It can be a real anthem if sung with pride.
wight88 Posted 31 July 2013 Posted 31 July 2013 Maybe if kasabian or englebert or that strange looking bloke in corrie brought out a cover version it would once again penetrate the frontal portions of our consciousness and become our song once more.
Tedders Posted 31 July 2013 Posted 31 July 2013 When you're smiling when you're smiling the whole world smiles with you! When you're laughing when you're laughing the sun comes shining through. when you're sighing you bring on the rain So stop sighing (Breath people this is where it goes into a mumbling mess) be happy again, when you're smiling when you're smiling the whole world smiles with you The whole world smiles with you The whole world smiles with Yooouuuuu

Yeah you must be right, YNWA must really dampen the mood before kick off at Anfield.
SeCrEt FoX Posted 31 July 2013 Posted 31 July 2013 TOO HARD TO SING!!!!! Jesus, why??? I remember it sung for years, perfectly in the 70's I even remember going to a London Book shop specialising in Sport. It had fanzines and loads of footie books. One book was about songs and chants. As always I immediately checked what it said about Leicester, it mentioned that we have a number of chants referring to our rivals and that we had our own song 'When you're Smiling' to which it said the Leicester fans finished it with an impressive display of coordinated hand movements. WYS is more Leicester than any of the other hundreds of chants tried over the years. IT DEFINITELY DOES NOT NEED THE DRUM. It is sung far to fast at the moment. Find someone over 40 to understand how it should be sung. If the whole of the L block did it properly it would be great. How about Y.M.C.A? Everyone knows the words , Plus it would be an impressive display of coordinated hand movements or would that be stealing Brightons favourite chant Hang on..........Maybe im onto something...... Y.M.C.A change it too L.C.F.C and tweek the lyrics slightly, Hey presto
Dan Posted 31 July 2013 Posted 31 July 2013 We'll get it going on Saturday, or at least try to. Agreed with whoever said the songs are sung too quick in general. Never ever understood it.
Webbo Posted 31 July 2013 Posted 31 July 2013 I remember it being sung at Filbert Street in the late 70s and early 80s and I don't remember it being sung slowly. I think that is a more recent phenomena inspired by singing When the Saints/Blues go marching in at a slower pace started by other clubs.
sylofox Posted 31 July 2013 Posted 31 July 2013 Foxestalk should have two anthems The right side can sing Yazz the only way is up and The left side can sing AcDc highway to hell.

I think not.. Some in L block sing it yeah I would love the song to be sung all around the stadium but realistically it will never happen.

Nothing to do with knowing the words I remember seeing the whole of filbert street singing numerous songs in the past. Sadly the crowd at the Walkers / KP could not even sing to keep us up when we lost to the owls and dropped to our lowest point ever. Yet oxford at filbo everyone was up and singing. Sadly I don't get to many games now but 2k at ipswich last season made more noise than 20k in the kp for most games. The golden age has gone even filbo after it was all seated was not the same as pens 2,3 and 4 all stood side by side. Even the dark days under Pleat had a better atmosphere.
Tedders Posted 31 July 2013 Posted 31 July 2013 hope this gets a good airing on saturday! c'mon city!!!

Exactly you've just hit the nail on the head. New generation then again how are people supposed to know it if the older lot don't sing it?

Sorry I was unaware it was my fault that Hume missed that penalty to level the game and ultimately keep us up. Shame on me
Weller in Tights Posted 2 August 2013 Posted 2 August 2013 You need more than just the words posted. You need the younger supporters to just listen to an old git like me sing it right through. They need to especially need to listen AND WATCH, when it gets to the end, this was really the bit that made it all different to any chant/song other teams did. I am willing to sing it loud and proud on Saturday, don't join in, just listen and watch.
