Fox92 Posted 8 January 2014 Author Posted 8 January 2014 I can't believe the lack of Sunderland fans, either. What happened? It's the semi final of a domestic trophy. When was the last time they were in a major Cup final? Have they played at the new Wembley before? Not denying them a semi final place, they obviously deserve it, but I think of other clubs around the Country (including ourselves) who would be buzzing to be in that position, especially after a victory in the first leg. Sunderland are well supported, that's what I didn't get about yesterday.
Dan Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Baffling. We sold out 32k extremely quickly for our quarter final, how many would we have sold if our ground was their size? Even Man City tend to struggle for 'Champions' League sell-outs too, I can't see it being any different tonight.
Donut Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 They'd take thousands down to Wembley, Sunderland. Thats the way it is. Were talking about the FA cup not meaning anything, but 2 home games in 3 days, something had to give. if there was no one there for the game against Carlisle, we would bemoan the passing of the FA cup magic. Cold tuesday night after christmas with the game on TV, it doesnt really surprise me the ground was the way it was. Now were saying the Carling Cup is mickey mouse. Pot and Kettle. Just a sign of the modern times and modern football.
purpleronnie Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Empty seats galore and a pin drop atmosphere from the home end (could hear the Man Utd fans clearly enough before someone blames TV acoustics). Fan culture's dying further every season. Yep.
Dan Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Look at the empties again. Jesus. Why have West Ham changed kit?

Somehow I think last night's match was not the one that had to give. It wouldn't be a Mickey Mouse cup if clubs and fans took it seriously, so not pot and kettle at all. It's a shit competition because of occasions like last night.
Kitchandro Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Look at the empties again. Jesus. Why have West Ham changed kit? Fvcking hell, I'm getting a seizure here. What genius decided those kits don't clash? Probably the same guy who says 'I don't see what's wrong with you both wearing white' whenever Newcastle and Sunderland play. Is it the ref who decides? Oh what a surprise, look who's reffing.
Dan Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Lovely finish. This is pretty dull. They'll get a second soon and it's effectively game over.
Dan Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 2-0. Game over already. Hope they stick about 10 past them for entertainment value.
Unabomber Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 2-0. Game over already. Hope they stick about 10 past them for entertainment value. This the only way to save games like this. I hope they go in dry and absolutely thrash them.
Unabomber Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 West Hams lack of closing down and putting pressure on players is absolutely pathetic, Man City could be at least 5 - 0 up already.
Dan Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 West Hams lack of closing down and putting pressure on players is absolutely pathetic, Man City could be at least 5 - 0 up already. Embarrassment. People can continue to blame Man City and how good they are (and they are brilliant) but there's just no challenge. Can safely say the fear factor in Manchester certainly is no longer at Old Trafford.

This performance from West Ham is diabolical.
MC Prussian Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Does somebody have the video already with Roger Johnson defending aka moving away from Yaya Touré?
Bayfox Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Good to see fat sam getting just what he deserves after the weekend. If he loses to cardiff at the weekend its sack time.
One Legged Beaver Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Even our half first/half reserve team put up a much better fight than this!
Uncle Albert Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Horrible manager and a horrible club, suited to each other.
EnderbyFox Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Good job Sam rested all those players on Saturday..

I was just drawing a parallel to say, if the stadium was a sell out last night, but against Carlisle only 8-10,000 showed up, we would be having the same debate about the FA Cup becoming mickey mouse. With it being on TV, it was easy for fans to go down the pub, or stay at home
