BoneDog Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 I saw bits and bobs along the way and when it was the semis I thought it'd be a travesty if either of the two lads won. She was far superior throughout from what I saw.
He's not bald Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Yaaa, well done Sam,great to see Leicester in the spotlight again!
Libertine Dream Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Apparently Sharon Osbourne said 'she'd put Leicester on the map'. And it's that kind of thing which is annoying people. I have no issue with the girl herself, it's just the show, and the big deal that's made out of it. Some people think she makes our city look good - when in fact, all the attention and all the fuss we are making out of it makes us look a bit shit. Like we're so desperate to make something out of nothing, like some shitty village. Can you imagine Sheffield or even Nottingham making a big deal about this? And make no mistake, nothing is what it is. She's won a corrupt, repetitive competition which is essentially a popularity contest. That doesn't make her a great artist. Fvcking hell, we're the city of Kasabian, the biggest band in Britain at the moment. Regardless of whether you like them or think they're overrated. People like Youngy and Stringer jizzing their pants over this look really pathetic. Oh, and they've made a mockery of our club in the process. Cheers for that. It's a nothing show and with all due respect, it's a nothing achievement. Let's see her write a great song or something. Completely agree, complete embarrassment. Although Arctic Monkeys are bigger than Kasabian, just saying
He's not bald Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Bottom line is it was England v Scotland in the final! No disrespect to our lovely northern friends but there was only ever going to be one outcome!
Dan Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 It isn't our clubs achievement at all. I've made it pretty clear that I've no interest in the X Factor from the start and I'm sick of having it rammed down our throat, as if we're not abiding by the LCFC fans' rule by not caring about it. The suggestions of booing are equally as ridiculous, but I refuse to get carried away in the slightest over a Leicester fan winning that crap. Good luck to Sam, and well done for winning something that clearly meant a lot to her.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 The jock only lost because all the Sweaties were on bbc 1 voting for Murray
Rich Fox Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Completely agree, complete embarrassment. Although Arctic Monkeys are bigger than Kasabian, just sayingArctic monkeys and wank, I would prefer watching X factor to that load of shite!
Soup Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 She one of our own chant would sound alright, would be nice for her We shouldn't sing that, cause she isn't one of our own.Let's just concentrate on the game.
Guest Col city fan Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Hey! Sam Bailey did fookin brilliant. Local girl made good. Good for you girl! Am I gonna sing a song for her at a football match? Fook off!!
C-man Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 People get so upset and wound-up about what everyone else will think when it comes to things like this: 'Oh god, Sam Bailey is singing. We'll look so tinpot in front of 4,300 Mancs. How could this get any worse?' Fvcking get over yourselves, stop worrying about things you can't control (maybe even enjoy yourself) and start trying to affect proceedings in the only way you can - by singing your heart out for the lads for 90 mins. If we give it everything we collectively have, no Man City fan is going home thinking that we're 'tinpot' because Sam Bailey is singing at the club she loves, they'll go home thinking we have good home support. If the atmosphere is shit, you'll only have yourself to blame. Whether or not the club have made a big deal out of the X Factor is irrelevant - it will have had absolutely ZERO impact on the match.
Callabinho Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Will the football phone in be a Sam Bailey wank fest tonight?
MrSpaM Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Are some people on here seriously suggesting booing her tomorrow night? after she's spent the whole series bigging the city up, and said last night she 'couldn't wait to see the lads down the city tuesday night' when asked how she was feeling about the final. Have a word with yourselves. Don't really think any Sam Bailey chants are needed, but a Leicester one when she's done would probably go down pretty well, think she'd appreciate that.
Topman Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Any negative comments abot Sam Bailey is ridiculous, everyone has their dream, for her singing in front of the Leicester fans is probably something she wanted to do all her life, she's a local girl who supports her own team, lets just cheer for her for the 5 mins she will be on, imagine its the other way round - you sing for the club u love and u get your owns fans booing u......
Guest MattP Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 She one of our own chant would sound alright, would be nice for herOh my ****ing God.I've argued for thirty years against anyone who has called us tinpot, after Tuesday I won't bother. Nothing to do with this football club,a humiliating day
bovril Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 There's a massive difference between doing the 'Poznan' and singing about an X Factor contestant. I didn't even know exactly who she was until I read this thread. Bring her on at half time if you must, sing about her if you really want, but please don't label me as a 'miserable sod' because I hate reality TV and don't like the idea of making a chant about it.
Manwell Pablo Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Haha, reading this thread makes me glad I don't have a ticket!
Guest Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Haha, reading this thread makes me glad I have an appropriate sense of what's important
bovril Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Haha, reading this thread makes me glad I have an appropriate sense of what's important There's something more imporant than football fandom?
jammie82uk Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Well done Sam. While i'm not the biggest fan of the show im glad she's won and will watch her tuesday night. The girl is following her dream, love it or hate the x factor has delivered that when she must have felt that her chance had long gone. Shes never shied away from showing her support for City, if she had she'd be getting slated for that. The girl can sing so to say she cant is ridiculous, she is probably one of the best singers the shows seen so show some class tuesday night and show her some support, if you can't do that or don't want to be quiet or go for a pint or piss as booing will only reflect badly upon us as a set of supporters and make us look more tin pot than ever. I personally think the animosity towards her comes from t.v snobbery towards the x factor, years ago when i was a kid back in the seventies people used to sellotape over the itv buttons on their tv sets and refused to watch the channel out of snobbery. My uncle was one, when round their house i used to sit and stare at the buttons wondering why they never got the tv repaired. That sounds ridiculous now. Good post
Guest Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 There's something more imporant than football fandom? There's certainly more important things than getting yourself in a state about a woman from Leicester singing at a match
Manwell Pablo Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 There's something more imporant than football fandom? This is thread embarrassing, you've got people seriously suggesting signing one of our own chants at a X Factor winner, and at the other end of the spectrum people actually considering booing her . Just let her sing, listen if you want. don't listen if you don't want, fuk off down to the concourse for a pint and terrible hot dog, take your pick. What's the drama, why does it matter. Some think having her sing at HT is tinpot, I'll tell you what's tinpot, pages and pages of discussion of how she should be received, that's tinpot .
bovril Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 There's certainly more important things than getting yourself in a state about a woman from Leicester singing at a match I'm not sure you how you can tell people are "getting in a state" from reading posts on an internet forum.
Guest Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 I'm not sure you how you can tell people are "getting in a state" from reading posts on an internet forum. Of course the reactions on here are clearly level headed and a natural reaction to somebody singing at you. You appear to think my comment was directed at you when it actually wasn't.
indierich06 Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 A) She's not Leicester born-and-bred, she's just lived here for a bit. B) She's not a Leicester fan, she's a Millwall fan. I've lived in Charlton for a few years now - does that make me 'one of our own' in the eyes of Charlton fans? Does it make ME a Charlton fan? Does it ****!
Bluetintedspecs Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Why can't people just be pleased for her? Some of the vitriol is completely OTT in my opinion. Wether you like the show, she wasn't born in Leicester or she can't sing according to some, I find the debate completely baffling. She won a show which many many 1000s entered, she will be supporting Beyonce on her tour, she is so excited about performing in front of a full house at the stadium of the club she supports, our club! None of the above is anywhere near as embarassing as shall we sing this little ditty?,shall we do this little dance to a goal, our section is better/louder than yours, let's victimise this player now! If you don't like the show or what it represents you don't have to watch it, however is showing some respect/support to a fellow Foxes fan who has done well too much to ask? I'm down on Tuesday night for the match and I am really looking forward to it, Sam singing at half time will be more entertaining than what's usually served up I'm sure, and IMO she has an excellent voice. Congratulations Sam well done.
