Guest Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Sepp "I'm an idiot" Blatter wants more African and asian teams in the finals replacing European teams. Michel "I'm half an idiot" Platini suggests adding African and Asian teams without reducing European teams making 40 team finals. Do we really want a longer and more boring finals than we already have? Do African and Asian teams merit more finals places? Personally I don't want more teams and I don't think some of the African/Asian/Oceanic teams present deserve their places. If they jusify more I'd suggest a playoff system pre-finals against European and South American teams so that only the best get to the finals. There is no excuse for a team being in the finals who are unable to at least get a draw in the first round of games. I think Blatter is succumbing further to the corruption epidemic in FIFA and pandering to the masses and the rich country sponsors. I reckon that placing the finals in Rio, Russia and Qatar is already verging on catastrophic and FIFA needs to be replaced by a modern alternative governing body which removes the corruption from our guiding body and brings football back from the brink.
Swarles Barkley Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 God this would be awful. If the teams arent good enough to get through asian and african qualifying what chance have they got against european teams and south american teams.
ousefox Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Wouldn't be a problem for me. The more games the better - love the World Cup.
Guest Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Wouldn't be a problem for me. The more games the better - love the World Cup. isn't a month long enough? what's the interest in seeing Iranistan losing 5 nil four times?
Kitchandro Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 There's enough matches between shit nations now. It doesn't need to be any bigger or smaller. The sooner those 2 cvnts drop dead the better. It's either them or football.
RonnieTodger Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 I've always found the Euros far more entertaining than the World Cup. I thought 2006 and 2010 were shit (Not just because of England). Euro 2008 was brilliant. World Cups often start off with dull affairs and teams being either hammered or too tentative. Everyone loves the odd shit Asian or African team being in there, but the standard is far poorer and I'd much rather have an evening of competitive football. I love the World Cup, but 32 is plenty enough.
Webbo Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 I'm sure one day during my lifetime there will be a breakaway from Fifa.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 How would this work? With 10 groups how would you wittle it down to Round of 16? Best second placers going through I assume. Why doesn't Blatter just put World Cup places on auction? Then FIFA can get exactly what they want with no fuss.
Leicesterpool Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 It's becoming more and more a farce. I think it's time a rival to fifa comes round, our beautiful game is being ruined!

Captain... Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 That or eight groups of five. Then we'll end up with more meaningless matches, stupid idea, I'm still pissed off they've ruined the Euros by making it 24 teams, ridiculous, it is just about money, how many countries have the infrastructure to handle a 32 team world cup, how many are going to be able to handle a 40 club world cup that lasts nearly 2 months. Brazil is being dragged through the mire with corruption and money wasting, then we have Racist Russia and Corrupt Qatar coming up, the World cup could well and truly be ruined by the time 2026 comes around.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 The only really necessary expansion was that of the European Champioship to 16 teams, because after the cold war, the number of countries in Europe exploded. Everything else has watered down the cups, really.
Guest Bilo Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 I'm sure one day during my lifetime there will be a breakaway from Fifa. I agree. I think 2014 and 2018 will be the last FIFA World Cups if they press ahead with Qatar. Qatar 2022 has the capacity to bring the whole edifice crashing down.
Guest Bilo Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 It's pretty obvious there aren't 32 teams good enough to compete in a World Cup, let alone 40. If they're coming from Asia and Africa, it's even more embarrassing. You'll be talking about teams like Thailand and Kenya playing and getting utterly annihilated. Crucially though, it'll give FIFA darlings like Qatar and China a chance to turn up and get some more lovely dollars in Blatter's back pocket.

Unlikely since neither of these teams reached the final stage in their qualification section.
Guest Bilo Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Unlikely since neither of these teams reached the final stage in their qualification section. I was talking hypothetically. You would be talking about Jordan having already qualified though, not much better. You'd also be talking about teams like Ethiopia and Burkina Faso being close to qualification too.
Jace Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 As much as I agree how much of a twat Sepp Blatter is I personally do not have much of a problem with this
MooseBreath Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Blatter will do anything for more money. He is not succumbing to corruption, he is the corruption. Can't wait for him to die, and I mean that sincerely. Football is an important sport to society, he seeks to degrade it for his own gain. He's a scumbag, everyone wants him dead. Just die you disgusting fvcking rat.

With the threat of black players boycotting the world cup due to the amount of racism in Russia, plus a quite a few of the stadiums in Russia are yet to be built!
Dan Posted 29 October 2013 Posted 29 October 2013 Another pointless idea which they'd use to try and claim they do anything.

With the threat of black players boycotting the world cup due to the amount of racism in Russia, plus a quite a few of the stadiums in Russia are yet to be built! Russia's problems are surmountable. If South Africa and Brazil can get the grounds built on time, I'm confident the Russians can. There was also similar talk of Polish and Ukrainian white supremacists running riot at Euro 2012 and it passed off without incident, more or less. Qatar is different, there's nothing you can do about the unplayable climate and nobody will stand for a winter World Cup.
Jimothy Posted 29 October 2013 Posted 29 October 2013 Totally disagree with going to 40 teams, the only thing I would change is giving the continent of Australia or Oceana or Australasia or whatever it's called, one automatic spot. I don't think they should have to go through numerous play offs to get a spot, and it is the World Cup after all, there should be one team from each association. I know a few will disagree with me based on quality, but prior to moving to the Asian association Australia didn't shame themselves in the finals, and neither did New Zealand last time out.

I agree with that actually. New Zealand were the only unbeaten side in the whole thing
sylofox Posted 30 October 2013 Posted 30 October 2013 The sooner it all goes tits up the better. Fixed voting lets play the final on xmas day 22. Nxt we will have a team from the IOW playing. Jobs for the boy's (well old fvckers) All they care about is linning there own fat pockets. Then hide behind some sham called football rules that say's they can cheat all they like. Make rules up to look good (anti rasism ) Then ignore them but it looks good. A whole bent and corrupt top tier. If the FA had bollox they would pull out untill the corruption is sorted. Not play along and ignore it. Blatter and the rest inc Platini should be booted and charged with fraud. Yes before you ask I will be cheering my country on in brazil. It is none of the players fault,s it is a becoming a joke run by monkies.
