My issue is twofold: 1) they fight in public 2) they associate themselves with football

Hopefully I don't need to explain why either of those is an issue.

So to get around that can't they just rename themselves from football hooligans and football casuals to 'scum who like to fight' and just meet up in a private warehouse and murder each other? I'd genuinely have no problem with that.

That wouldn't make sense though.

The whole scene and reason for scrapping is football.

The same as if a group of people scrap because of skin colour it's called racism.

These blokes dont meet and scrap because they dont like each others choice in ale. They fight because they genuinely dont like each others teams.

It's not just football is it, you get people fighting over each others teams in various sports, especially in America.

I dont like Muslims or Jehovah's Witnesses ramming there crap down our throats but it happens daily. If you dont want to see stuff you dont like in public your probably best to stay at home pal.

Im not arguing, purely my opinion bud.

They genuinely hate each other's team so much that they want to fight about it lol Pull the other one.

These are people who are so limited in life that the only way they can get their kicks is to have a fight. And they use football as the vehicle for their primitive activies but it could equally be choice in ale.

I don't like religious preaching either but I don't kick the shit out of them because of their views. By the football casual's logic that's what I should be doing

You look far too much into it.

It's a few little scraps, cuts and bruises that they inflict on each other.

Not asking you to join in, or even like it but for you to dislike people for there hobby makes you as bad as them for disliking each other for there team?

It's laughable to most what happens in the casual scene, but you've sat on a computer talking shit for 3600+ posts, that's laughable to others.

It's each to their own surely?

So me not liking them because they'll happily fight in public makes me as bad as them for wanting to have a punch up for no reason at all? Yep, you hit the nail on the head there.

My shit talking only affects the people who actively come on to this forum. Fighting in public is a different issue. If you can't see the difference there then we're really in trouble. For you it may be laughable and a 'good old scrap' but for some it can be a scary experience to get caught up in. But they should just stay at home right?

Everything I read from anyone pro-hooliganism just seems to be full of hypocrisy, so help me out and answer this... What's the point of it?

Posted

Didn't realise that once id stated my opinion I would then get 100 questions fired at me.

I read online 6-7 weeks back that they were paid to do the show.

I'm guessing they have family, whether it be kids or parents of there own?

Yes, your right, the likelihood is high, but I know plenty of clever, wealthy lads who just enjoy banging heads on a Saturday afternoon with a bit of organised football violence. I agree it isn't everybodies cup of tea and most of you folk think it's 'sad' but it's just how some get a buzz. Most of you lot get a buzz from copy and pasting GIF images from other sites, others prefer a good old fashioned scrap.

Why do people get so opinionated over it though? Football hooligans scrap other football hooligans, not innocent people. They also don't try and force there hobby on innocent people or people not interested.

No football casual forces the culture / passion down the throats of others.

I wouldn't put myself in the camp of those who are massively opinionated on it, but i'd imagine that their answer to your question would be the fact that unlicensed fighting (consent or not) is against the law, whereas their hobbies are probably not.

Having lived through it and seen the difference attending a football match before and after it of course I'm opinionated on it.

All seater stadiums

No unreserved seating

No cash on the turnstiles

No pay on the day at many away games, If there are you're charged extra.

Over zealous policing and stewarding

Subjected to body searches

Being treated like criminals and assumed to be scum.

Lack of freedom when visiting away matches.

Travel by train and being marched to the ground like prisoners

No private bus groups unless you inform the police and are then herded straight into the stadium.

etc.

All because some pig brained idiots many of whom weren't interested in football at all decided it was great fun to have running battles with other pig brained idiots.

' what's the point in it ' well what's the point in getting pissed on a weekend or doing anything that gives you a buzz. Like it or loath it , it is about adrenaline flowing. As for those involved, most I used to know were educated people in very good jobs many often professional jobs. Now I am not saying it is right but those that talk bull sh!t about it and reply to any one that try,s to explain the reason behind it are the so called muppets , I won't say scum like often used because they know not what they say. And for the record ' getting pissed was not part of it '. We still live in a country that allows free speech and opinions, whether we agree with them or not. The days of the 80s & 90,s are long gone and certainly for the better of the game but don't think for one minute that we were all jobless and racist, far from it.

Well at least you're more honest than Loyalist who believes people fight because they genuinely hate each other's football clubs to the extent it becomes physical.

They do it for the buzz and for me anyone who has to get their buzz from hurting someone else is pathetic and the lowest of the low, regardless of what job or how much money they have. Tragic.

Posted

Just telling you my experience, but as I have said it's a free country and your welcome to your opinion. By the way wasn't being more honest as you put it, just honest thanks. And for the record the lowest of the low in my view are sex offenders and murderers, not to mention terrorists, but hey I guess your views and values are different to mine so let's just keep the cyber name calling down.

Just telling you my view mate, no need to lie surely?

My history with casuals and like minded people is the hatred for another persons football club and beliefs. It's probably hard to imagine living in Leicester and supporting Leicester but it's a matter of life or death in Glasgow.

No name calling from me - I can only guess you took that personally because you're a casual yourself?

And I said 'anyone who has to get their buzz from hurting someone else is pathetic' so I would certainly include sex offenders and depending on the circumstance murderers too. But you think it's fine to get a buzz from hurting someone, right?

Well in one post you say people fight because of their genuine hatred of other clubs and their beliefs and then the next post you're saying it's no big deal, just a little scrap, a few cuts and bruises. The two completely contradict each other, hence why I don't believe what you're saying

Really, a matter of life or death??? And why is that?

Because one bunch of you think that the host at communion is the actual body of Christ and the other bunch think its only representative?

Or is it the trappings of the Catholic church or the more conservative nature of the Protestant faith that takes you to the point of hate.

Grow up, hatred due to religion is the lowest of low, you are all Glaswegians, what does it matter if you bless yourself or not? Truly pathetic.

My family are from N Ireland. The Irish are wonderful, its a fantastic country. As a kid I went N Ireland every summer. Trouble is Religion has ruined Ireland. Couldn't understand why one group of Irishmen wanted to kill the other group, my friends back in England regarded all Irish as Paddys whatever their religion. The same way as any Scot is a Scot, what does religion have to do with it?

Don't come on here acting all like Rangers are the the only fans with passion. Bigotry because of religion isn't passion about football. It's just some outdated crap because some people like to wear orange sashes and bowler hats or deck themselves in green.

Do yourself a favour, jump forward a few centuries.

Come on England beat the Italians on Saturday

And Come on City for next season.

This thread is becoming ****ed up, can we get back to football related talk, even if it is about violence, rather than politics and religion, never a good conversation when people have differing veiws, it's a football forum.

Rangers v Celtic, the 90 minute bigot... Used to be more, still I do not agree with many of celtics stances on poppies 'no bloo stained poppies on our hoops' but no need for violence over it.

I'm sorry, Loyalist, but what exactly do comments like that imply? That you'd hit him for disagreeing with you if there wasn't a computer between you? You're trying to convince us casuals only fight casuals, he should be free to express a non violent view whether it be face to face or on a forum, no?

And why do you avoid DavieGs post?

I know quite a few older guys that were BS or close to back on their youth (they're in their 40s and even 50s now) and they're sound as a pound, I've no particular prejudice here. But davie is right, the biggest issue in regards hooliganism is the impact it's had on the average fan from the football corporation.

It's a legitimate concern and it's one most casuals gleefully lack any fvcks about.

If you think that's what I mean, then that's completely up to you. I'm not going to hit some kid who sits online running his mouth. I know full well he wouldn't go name calling in person, yet feel's that little bit braver behind his monitor, the problem with most on here.

I completely agree with DavieG's post. Football hooligans and casual's have changed the game for the everyday supporter. Never disagreed with that.

I'm not a football hooligan and have not been involved in ANY fight due my football team, I was just giving the other side to the story as ive been around it all my life.

Arguing about it online isn't going to make it go away, or make it any better.

Im not going to get dragged into arguments between Rangers / Celtic either, after all, we all support the Leicester.
