Definitely drums though im fully aware I look like a spastic when doing it whilst driving.

In fact, i don't even have to be driving.

My thing is that doing air drums, I kind of feel that I know what I'm doing, whilst air guitar, I haven't got a clue where chords are and I feel like a fraud.

It might depend if you can actually play either for real. I can play the guitar so Air Drums are way more fun.

I can play the drums to an extent. I can just about play Basketcase by Greenday

I too haven't got a clue when it comes to guitar. My fingers just don't move quick enough. Though ive never had any complaints.

I often play the air tuba, get some right dirt looks.

Air drums are great for the good drumming bit in a song (see Phil Collins above) then get boring, imagine air drumming to this:

You'd be pretty bored, where as you can air guitar for a whole song and not get bored, although switch to the drums for a good bit.
