Do we need to freshen things up in January?

It's only the Blackpool pitch that is absolutely shit in winter so we can't blame the pitches if we play badly.

Don't do cvnts like him.

Eh?

Crying out for a creative winger who can play both sides. Sterling, bolasie or zaha on loan are all good shouts. Doubt we'd get zaha though. Sako would add power and goals to our flanks but would likely have a steep price tag but they may take a swap for waggy or gally with cash. Moses odubaju at leyton orient is flying ATM and got a load of assists and Jed Wallace at Pompey is a good one to watch and they'll accept a dirt cheap bid. What about yossi benyaoun? There was something on here before about him in talks with us Watford and QPR but that has gone quiet recently and I also heard Malaga want him now too.

Chris Burke anyone?

Very effective, even for an inconsistent (and cash strapped) birmingham.

We don't have a lot and never have had any.

i'd rather we signed english players from the lower leagues or our league; sort of try to copy the southampton model. The likes of Jed wallace as someone said earlier, dirt cheap. have a look at a few Leyton Orient players as well, i think i read somewhere they haven't actually paid a fee for a player in 6 years due to free transfers? or i may be wrong , so they must not have too much money. Also like the idea of getting jack cork on loan, great player and played well in the premier league last year till being replaced by a 10m pound signing, he will be desperate to play and would be a quality addition to our reasonably strong midfield. Also need a winger from somewhere, i'm definitely sure when i say this that byron moore for crew got 17 assists last year and he's quite young!

We haven't had a quality natural right winger here in years. Thought we'd landed him in Marshall but shows what I know...

Knockaert's my favourite player but I still to this day maintain he isn't a winger, although he's looking better there.

We need another striker definitely. Nugent isn't scoring enough from open play, Vardy has improved massively but needs more goals still. Wood had the ball smacked off his head for his 1 goal. I honestly think that's all we need and if we get a good proven striker in January we can get promoted this season.

Demba Ba?

No offence mate but are you being serious?

Why on earth would Demba Ba want to leave Chelsea to join City? He's probably never even heard of us.

I reckon we've got a great chance of automatic promotion guys, however, a few fresh faces wouldn't be a miss for me. A right winger (Although De Laet can play there) and possibly a striker but if you look at the strikers we've got; Chris Wood, Gary Taylor Fletcher, Dave Nugent and Jamie Vardy, thats some forward line in my opinion.  Knockaert in a free role would be nice, Just need a pacey right winger that can cross. Anyone thought of Yannik Bolasie? I know palace are in the Prem but they are not going that well and we are! Its just whether he would drop down to the Championship.

We always need another striker don't we?

Chris Wood got 20 goals in the championship last year and has rarely played this year but he isn't good enough right? Davin Nugent has consistently got around about 15 a season for us in this division, and is well on his way to doing it again, but he isn't good enough? Our best striker so far this season, Jamie Vardy, isn't good enough? Martyn Waghorn who has always done very well under our current manager isn't good enough to be 4th choice? Garry Taylor-Fletcher doesn't deserve a chance to prove himself? Jeffrey Schlupp doesn't deserve a chance to prove himself? Being second in the league and having the 5th best attack in the league is a disaster and we have to bring someone in to fix it?

We don't need anyone at all. Just like we didn't need anyone at all last year, but we still went and signed/loaned players and ended up falling to bits.

We need a RW winger and a playmaker (someone that can open up teams in the centre of the park we don't have anyone that can do that they are all box to box midfielders or vary rarely) for me apart from that no one else

I completely agree with this. Spot on.

Without Wood, with Vardy half-fit and Nuge hideously out of form last weekend, I think it was glaringly obvious we need another striker. The post you quoted wasn't specifically bemoaning our lack of forward potency or attacking our current set of strikers - it could have, perhaps, been alluding to the fact that we do need more quality in depth when things gets a little sticky.

- Taylor-Fletcher is a decent player but'll never be consistently starting and playing ninety minutes for us week in, week out.

- Schlupp will carve out a decent career in the football league as a left winger / left back; but his judgement / natural instinct in front of goal is terrible (and, much as I hate to say this, we can't afford to give time for him to polish that aspect of his game).

- Martyn Waghorn clearly isn't really fancied by Pearson anymore (and there's probably a reason for that) and it's perhaps best you dropped the obsession.

And how many of those are long term problems? None.

We're talking about our fourth choice striker in the Championship, players who are better than GTF/Schlupp/Waggy are not going to be happy as fourth choice and as we've seen in the past having unhappy players at the club does nothing to help. IF we have any long term issues with Wood/Nugent/Vardy and the other three aren't cutting it then we should get someone in on loan but signing players who aren't  going to get game time for the sake of it is not going to help us at all, in fact it will do the opposite.

Depends what you class as long term. Nugent and Wood have been off form since February.
