Dan Posted 11 November 2013 Posted 11 November 2013 Sorry dan get used to it the days of great atmospheres are long gone, the odd game might be good, but a large percentage don't want to know. Saying that the man city game should be good, always better when underdogs, and man city fans are good, and no pressure we are expected to lose. No point rolling over and accepting it. I'm well aware that they aren't what they're used to be but that's not to say they'll never improve again.

I'm well aware that they aren't what they're used to be but that's not to say they'll never improve again.Would take a massive culture change for a lot of fans, don't get me wrong dan I'm with you, as I guess all the old kop lot, if we could get anywhere near the old filbert street days at the kp.What do you do, other than accept that's the way it is, and the way the clubs like it. I stand in l1 and a mixture of old and young stand in silence a lot of the time, the younger ones on their phones, and the older lot catching up with their mates, with a bit of singing in between, then you have large groups who sing most of the time. What I'm getting at is if people can't be arsed to sing, they can't be forced, and there's nothing that can be done.
JonnyBoy Posted 11 November 2013 Posted 11 November 2013 I keep reading posts saying the KOP was good all game, I'm sorry but was I the only one to hardly hear them? I did notice a lot more standing thought especially where the fosse boys were i was on row FF and i was the last row to be standing. Must of been around 13 rows standing in SK1 where the fosse boys were. Was good until we conceded, tbf the top few rows sang all game regardless, hats of to them. If only 50 % more fans were like that we would be better than Leeds!

Pub breath Posted 11 November 2013 Posted 11 November 2013 Hi, I agree with the fella who said it's different when you're a big margin down, a kind of Dunkirk spirit sets in sometimes. We're (yes, i'm Leeds) not bad when we're losing but it's certainly rarely like that Blackpool match either. We're a fairly patient bunch, we've had to get used to being patient over the last 10 years so we do still back the players and don't get on their backs but the Blackpool-esque show of support is not oft repeated. I really wouldn't be holding Elland Road up as an example of how home fans shold be either. We still have our moments in the big games but too many games go by nowadays with little more than a smattering of well worn out stock songs to cut through extended periods of silnece. It's a poor do. The bear pit atmosphere at Elland Road is well and truly a thing of the past. Small children are now known to leave Elland Road thoroughly un-frightened. Sad times.
David Guiza Posted 11 November 2013 Posted 11 November 2013 As has been said, it is far easier to have gallows humour or to support your team more vocally when you are getting hammered than being a goal or two behind. I remember going to Sheffield United away when we were 3-0 down after about 15minutes, but it was possibly the loudest we were all season that year. Think Kisnorbo got sent off to, and then got rescinded a few days later?
JonnyBoy Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 decent that, the same amount of people standing in N, did you arrange to all go there or something? no mate, my brother has got a season ticket in Sk1 but on row Z so a few rows down.. i was getting a ticket too so he moved his ticket further up because i said it would be better and we would probably be standing... which we were!

What I'm getting at is if people can't be arsed to sing, they can't be forced, and there's nothing that can be done. I'm realistic enough to accept we probably won't hit the old heights but there's no reason at all we shouldn't be hitting better than we currently do. Our support had been on the decline and last year it hit an all-time low since I've been going when we were 4 up at Bristol City and still getting outsung by a few home fans. It's been a bit better this year IMO. Not ideal, but definitely better. I do wonder what makes it happen - I wonder if it's lower expectation in general. I thought the same. Thought Elland Road was no louder than our ground when I went and I'm not joking either.

absolutelegend Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 i love the way that when people write about 'our fans' or 'leicester fans' they never include themselves in that group, like they're the exception

SmelliottLcfc Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Totally agree out fans should be better
1964FOX Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Totally agree out fans should be better Come on they've been brave enough to come out you can't expect them to be loud as well.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Found it embarrassing yesterday when we went 2-0 down and our fans just shutup, look at leeds fans, why cant we do this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzmkL4TV0do What a bunch of thugs, I'm glad our fans have a bit more dignity.
Bayfox Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Must admit the penalty miss pretty much killed my enthusiasm although did still sing a bit. Ours tend to give up when we go a goal behind. we do now. I remember being 3 down to liverpool at filbo under mon and sk1 spent the last 20 mins singing,Leicester, Leicester, Leicester soild. Everytime it looked like it may die down. It lifted again. I love a bit of adversity but as all these atmosphere threads point out. For some reason those days seem to have gone.

Doncaster was a great example. It was quality until 'that' goal, and from then on it was silence. You'll never get the old atmospheres back but I don't see why we can't get what the German's have.

Dortmund against arsenal had two guys at the front leading all the chants, one had a megaphone and one had a mic wired up to some speakers it seemed.

Why do we people think we need to be organised, most people are capable of making a spontaneous noise, it does make me laugh.
wiltshirefox Posted 15 November 2013 Posted 15 November 2013 I dont think there is a problem with the quiet patch as long as the ground is generally noisy. In fact when a group of fans just sing the same song at the same tone for ages ( Like Leeds do) everyone raves about what great support it is but I think it loses any relation to the match and just becomes a bit of a dirge, which is more about the fans being able to say what great supporters they are than actually supporting the team.
C-man Posted 15 November 2013 Posted 15 November 2013 Why do we people think we need to be organised, most people are capable of making a spontaneous noise, it does make me laugh. Clearly a) not enough people are or b) they are not consistent enough with their spontaneity (sounds ridiculous but I mean it) otherwise we wouldn't be having this discussion. Organisation is the way forward - hope Union FS can achieve it.

Kinowe Soorie Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 Jobber could do a much better job than what he does Such as a... Doctor, Solictor, Engineer?
Stadt Posted 16 November 2013 Posted 16 November 2013 Such as a... Doctor, Solictor, Engineer?Yes, I'm certain he has the intellectual capacity to become a solicitor and it is odd that he is so massively over qualified for his position at KFC but it's the perks of the job that make it worthwhile for him.
