Are we likely to bring in that elusive winger on loan?

Or does everyone think the squad is covered for the Christmas period?, and the only additions necessary will be in January.

The problem is, that although I think we're one right winger short. That player would only be a squad player if signed anyway. They aren't going to start over Knockaert and to be honest, Tony might be facing a spell on the bench as I can see Nigel sticking with 3 central midfielders for a few games (until we lose again)

It's a shame we've not a shit hot winger coming through the academy who could get the odd appearance but ultimately isn't going to come in and get frustrated because they aren't starting matches.

I'd be amazed if knocky doesn't start Saturday

To be fair this Adam Dawson is supposed to be something special

I wouldn't be. Pearson alluded to the fact that Knockaert's suspension might mean he doesn't get in the team for a while now if the player/s who come in for him impress and do well.

We've not beaten Millwall for quite a while and I can see Nigel sticking with 3 in the middle to win the battle. Dean Hammond is perfect for this game. Bring Tony on with 30 mins to go to run amok.

It's vital we get the win on saturday, not only because we lost at home last time but because Millwall have had our number for too long and beating them is more evidence we're improving and the real deal.

He's lost his way big time so there's some serious hard work ahead for him to make it but i'm pleased we've taken a chance on him as you never know with players who are born with natural ability. Pier Larrauri was a wonderkid though and he's yet to make an impression with us.

No.

However, I keep looking at that table and the writing on the wall (eternal pessimist with experience) is looking very and upsettingly so, 'third placed'. Hopefully Burnley won't have the depth in squad come injuries and Christmas but I can't see QPR not going up.

Our top 3 goal scorers are Dyer Wood and Nugent - Nugent with twice as many than the other two and I do wonder if we'll cope if we lose Nuge to an injury and Dyer goes off the boil....(Sounds impossible, I know.)

A fast, creative winger would be an ideal New Year gift.

Pearson is bound to say that though isn't he? He's not exactly going to tell the replacement players that regardless of how well they play, they'll be back on the bench next week.

I think we've been at our best playing 442 and that necessitates playing knocky. 433 has worked in patches for specific reasons such as Watford when it closed the game out. Other than that it hasn't been particularly successful so I think we should be starting with 442.

I'm hoping for a pacy young winger on loan to come on when knocky or Dyer have burned out, buy I don't think its gonna happen.

I think Chris Wood is on the verge of being devastating again, he just needs a run in the side, whether he gets that is another thing coming. Vardy has been so important to our counter attacking play and Nugent for all his supposed critics has 10 goals to his name and is also looking to go on a rich vein of form.

I hear what you're saying, but millwall are not the team they were under kenny jackett if we attack them I reckon they will crumble(plus no darius Henderson :) )

Maybe so but Matty James got sent off and it's taken him nearly 3 months to get a sniff again bar sub appearances and cup games. Pearson will not change a winning team even if it might strengthen his side, he's brutally fair in that sense.

I agree though, 4-4-2 we've looked our best this season and Knockaert has really done well in the last 6 weeks. I just think we might start 4-3-3 vs Millwall because of the recent appalling performances against them where they have bullied us in the middle of the park.

That is an interesting point actually, but Steve Lomas was a horrible player. I suspect he fits in with the Millwall ethos.

Yeah, you're probably right, they will try and make it as ugly as possible. I just like the thought of dyer and knocky running at the likes of shittu(if he's still playing?)

With regards to the topic, just seen on ssn that graham dorrans at west brim is in talks with several championship clubs, are we one of them??

Got to admit I've always liked him but would he fit into our current team?

We don't need anyone at the moment. We're well covered in most areas. Loans actually hindered us last season, I wouldn't want to disrupt a happy squad.

January is just around the corner, we're fine til then.

8 games round the corner, could do with a winger to cover both flanks because if Knockaert or Dyer get injured/suspension we are struggling imo, yeah we can play 4-3-3 but 4-4-2 is our best bet.

Can't think of many suitable for a loan anyway. We'll manage till January with the versatility we have in formations but would like to see another experienced head come in pretty cheap in January to aid the promotion push or alternatively spend 2-4mil on someone who is likely to start if we went up. Seems harsh the wingers we have to buy someone else but reality is we need some cover/stronger players to go into side.

Wilfred Zaha is the only obvious one. But I think United are hoping for a premie league club to take him on loan. I also seen Forest are after Dorrans. I would take him

Posted

Thomas Eisfield from Arsenal would be a dream and it wouldn't be unrealistic short term as he's unlikely to get a sniff in the first team until the 3rd round of the FA Cup anyway. He's be mustard on the right.

Posted

I see Graham Dorren's is looking for a move to get regular football. He'd be a good loan for us.

Problem is, where would you fit him in? Even by a stretch he can play as a makeshift left winger but Dyer is the business right now and Schlupp is a threat down the left as well. He's a central attacking midfielder and we don't really require one of those. If we got an out and out right winger then Knockaert can play centrally if needs be.

Posted

I agree an out and out winger on the right would be nice, but with the way we currently play, thats knockys position to start so he can cut inside and cause havoc.... RDL will be back soon, and if neccasary can cover if knockys out... we have schlupp as back up on the left.... if we can buy a proper winger for under 2m to play on the right in jan i think Pearson may be interested, but if not he'll stick with what he has... personally, i think he'll look at utility players who can cover a few positions in case of injuries to widen the back up....
