surrifox Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 apparently in the last 6 seasons the side topping the Championship on 1st December has gone on to secure automatic promotion at the end of the season. So the omens are good. This means that 7 seasons ago a side was top on 1st December yet didn't get automatic promotion I wonder who it was and what went wrong
Jimothy Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 By my reckoning 7 seasons ago was 2006/07 and Birmingham were top at the start of December, and the went up finishing 2nd. So basically the stats wrongs
surrifox Posted 2 December 2013 Author Posted 2 December 2013 ha! Bloody Metro - fish and chip rag- I will never look at the free copy I get every morning again!
Happy Fox Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 We are showing title form which is good. Put it this way we only need 8 points from 6 games and we are averaging automatic promotion come the end of December ( 46 points - 23 games) We will do better imo, get within the 50 points mark and we are well on the way to winning the title. As long as we get automatic promotion I don't really care cannot stand the heartbreak of the playoffs!

Jimothy Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 ha! Bloody Metro - fish and chip rag- I will never look at the free copy I get every morning again! Actually they might have been talking about 2007/08, which would be 6 season ago, not 7, where Watford were top, but finished 6th and failed to go up.
Happy Fox Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Don't worry we would need to lose 23 games on the spin that won't happen
FoxG2 Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 The only thing that worries me is that there are 3 teams at the top of the division separated only by 3 points. Burnley and QPR had only lost one game this season each until the weekend. We have a difficult run of fixtures coming up including we have to play both QPR and Burnley, any slipup we could find ourselves out of the automatic promotion spots. That's the facts, however with the form that were in I feel optimistic.
Churchill Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 A good omen yes but i seem to remember Boro being second around December-January time and look where they finished in the end!
foxfanazer Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Would our current points tally have seen us as runaway leaders in the past few sasons (5 or so)

This is Leicester we are talking about, until we are mathematically promoted I won't be celebrating
Babylon Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 not sure if the attachment works Palace were top after 17 games last season, and they were bloody lucky to be in the play offs let along win them with the form they finished the season in. So it only really tells half the story, we're only two points better off than they were at this stage.

Not wanting to get ahead of ourselves as i'm an eternal pessimist with Leicester and fully expect us to fook it up at some point. However, we have so many similarities to Cardiff last season in the togetherness of the squad and the way we are grinding out wins with a mixture of quality, team spirit and genuine will to win.

I agree we seem a different animal, but I won't get excited until it's mathematically all done and dusted!!
Ric Flair Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 I agree we seem a different animal, but I won't get excited until it's mathematically all done and dusted!! I quite like the fact Nigel is starting to utilize the squad a bit more as well not just when forced to. That's hugely important when it comes to congested periods and we need to rely on all of our squad to be able to maintain the level of performances. I hope we can keep going, even though the PL fcuks me right off. I just want that promotion party at Kasabian in June, it'll be insane.
deanolegend1989 Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Until we get a decent lead(maybe over 6 points) away from 3rd I wont be confident. I think Cardiff picked up around Dec/Jan and put a good distance between themselves and 2nd/3rd(us and Hull at the time I believe). I think if we can go into the new year still top after this tough run, then build a lead in Jan/Feb then teams will believe 'Leicester are too far away' like we did to Cardiff last year and phycologically that will hope us just cruise away. The hard part will be staying top by New Years day. Tough run and as long as we are within the top 2 after it we'll stand a chance!
Jace Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 I think our main competition will be QPR and Reading I think Burnleys good run of form has fizzled out now
Ric Flair Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 There are some really dangerous teams in this league. Reading are the obvious ones who are picking up form and Derby look very good under Schteeve. QPR are yet to really get going yet are 2nd, it's quite amazing but with that squad it's no surprise they are up there. I am convinced they'll turn the screw when it really matters.
foxfanazer Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 I can see Blackpool being there or thereabouts for some reason

Reading have only won 2 out of the last 6. They aren't improving that much really.
bovril Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 At first glance I thought this thread was about the World Cup hosts in 2026.

foxfanazer Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 I thought it was about Tom Daley's magazine subscription.........
