Bluetintedspecs Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 I thought it was a film. Beat me too it Webbo so won't do my critique now
Devonfox1884 Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 apparently in the last 6 seasons the side topping the Championship on 1st December has gone on to secure automatic promotion at the end of the season. So the omens are good. This means that 7 seasons ago a side was top on 1st December yet didn't get automatic promotion I wonder who it was and what went wrong Good stat. I have a great feeling about this season, i think the lads have matured a lot and pearson has been very shrewd with his signings, i think we can do it, i know we can do it, and i know pearson can deliver it. sylofox Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 If I remember right did we not struggle in div 1 when we only needed 6pts to be certain of both going up and winning it. For a few games we struggled and Pboro came on strong. Then once we crossed the line won every game. That squad was probably stronger in that division than this squad is in this division. While your chickens are eggs don't start counting. From the Burnley game on we have a run of games that could make or break our season. The man city game being the second one and that game could take it's toll on us qpr have a break. Extra time in that game could cause a lot of damage to us plus any bookings or a sending off. Not on a downer just trying to keep a level head.
Stadt Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Watford should have gone up automatically last season and were looking likely to do so and managed to mess it up on the final or penultimate game so I wouldn't be too certain even in April unless we had a big point cushion.
Tielemans63 Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 I'm loving how things are going but it's only the start of December - seems way too early to start talking about promotion let alone points totals. Let's just are how it goes. If we're top in March then I'll start to dream!
Paulmot Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 We had 36 points last year but had played 20 games and we were third. Palace lead on 40 points after 20, Cardiff second on 38 after 19 Dull 5th on 35 after 20, same as Boro in 4th Our current pts per game is 2.235 if we managed the same form 102 points rounded down to a full point. I think 17 more wins will do it which leaves 12 games, if we lost 8 more that would still give 4 draws which would give us a total of 93 points. We have 14 home games left win 11 we would then need 6 aways from 15. I know this just seems wishful thinking but these are close to what we need to achieve. We have won 7 from 9 at home and 5 from 8 away, along with 2 draws. I think if we get 1 win and a draw from Sheff Wed and Brighton and the same from the Burnley and Qpr games we will be looking in a good position. West ham have scored the most points finishing 3rd with 86 in 2011-2012 .

Paulmot Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 Since the Millwall game We Have Played 6 games gained 10 points and increased our Lead over closest rival by 1 point. I predicted we would need to win 11 home games and 6 aways to be promoted Home 3 games = 2 wins 1 Draw Away 3 games = 1 Win 2 losses We need to Win 9 of 11 at home and 5 of 12 away. Last year Cardiff topped the table on 53points from 25 games with Dull 2nd on 48 after 25 games. We were 5th on 41after 25 games The Task is only half done having said that 40 more points should clinch promotion. The Next 2 games take us to Millwall where our recent record is poor and home to the in form sheep. 4 points would be satisfactory return but a win against the Sheep would set up a great start to 2014.
MC Prussian Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 Stats are useless if we don't continue performing like we did against Bolton yesterday. It's fantastic that - even after chasing the game twice - we managed to pull even and then secure all three points later on. Testament to the team and the manager for this convincing display of unity and willpower. However, we're only 50% through this season and we need to make sure we work against complacency, our biggest threat in recent years.
Mrmojorisin Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 My lad got hit by a Drinky pre match shot..scored the 1st goal. For me,stats such as who went up after being 1st in December have a superstitious tinge to them.I don't believe in superstition as I think it is bad luck. (Winky smile thing). We're in a great position at the moment. .but I'll celebrate when the maths say we're up.
MPH Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 Seems like they put the contract issues behind them. Good stuff.
ithuriel Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 If we beat Millwall away and Derby then I will begin to believe it, until then we are just top again for the moment and it means very little after what happened last season when we crumbled in the second half of the season.

I believe it shows a good team to come from behind, which we have done so many times this season. Look down the years at the amount of times Manchester United have had to come from behind to win. We came back twice yesterday, not to get a point, but to win the game. Have to be wary around the January transfer window taking into consideration some of our key players are out of contract. Divisional rivals making a bid for certain players, even if they don't actually want to buy them, is enough to cause a stir however we have showed so far that we are a team/together. I like that.
yorkie1999 Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 Last year Cardiff went up in 1st after getting beat 4-2 by Bristol in the 3rd game of the season. 1,2,3,4..Omen.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 I think our main competition will be QPR and Reading I think Burnleys good run of form has fizzled out now Certainly QPR is the main one to watch, but not too sure about Reading. Derby and Forest look dangerous, so let's hope their form drops off.
