Matt Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 Fair enough. And what's Morgan's missus' excuse? She was looking out for her husband's future, ok, but I know for one if it were me in the position and my missus were spouting her mouth over twitter i'd be a little embarrassed. TBH if I were a player doing these interview i'd be a little embarrassed over the situation. Maybe that's just me though
GingerrrFox Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 When the interview is solely about the matter in hand, and you agree to the interview about it, it's pretty hard or stupid to sidestep it. The players should just shut up and get on with it. It's not endearing themselves to either us or the owners. Do they really think we are gonna give a shit that they only have 6 months left, on in a few cases, their £30,000 a week wages? Plenty of people in the "normal" world work on short term contracts and don't know if they will be offered extensions. It's slowly causing a rift between the players and fans and they could easily avoid it by refusing to talk about it. We would respect them more for that. Especially when certain people have their Mrs spouting off in public about **** all.
Aarongu Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 For a players wife to be tweeting shite like that is incredible. She and Wes know they have a very good deal at this football club. To an outsider looking in they would think the guy was picking up minimum wage For the players to be using this as an excuse to hide poor performances is disgraceful. They aren't worried about their futures, they are worried that other clubs won't pay them what they are earning here. I can't imagine, Nugent, Morgan, Konchesky and co will struggle to find another club next summer, so the only reason they are bitching like this is to try and get a contract tied up here on the money they are currently on. If they loved the club and want to stay as they so claim, why not get in touch with the club and say they are willing to take a cut to get a new deal sorted? Yes, I know us ordinary folk wouldn't accept a pay cut etc etc but footballers aren't paid normal wages. They won't gain any sympathy from people who don't earn in a year what these players earn in a week. Pearson is about the only one who has carried himself with any class through all this. He is the only man at the club who should be having a contract renewed on current terms!
Jackubu Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 According to Mrs Morgans twitter shes the managing director of Belle Bronze Ltd. Assuming shes not running that properly if she wont be able to feed her kids. Why do people relate football to normal jobs? I dont get it. Because 20-30k per anum is comparable to earning 13k a week.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 This is really starting to fvck me off now, FFP has got them running scared and they know the power is not with them any more as Marbella stated "poor lambs". I say start earning your over inflated wages and prospective new contracts or fvck off.
dayday Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 Its interesting that the players spouting off about new contracts are the high earners, just saying like.
J.Lisemore Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 Its as if they think us fans are stupid, "I want to stay at Leicester" Well yes, I'm sure you do with massively inflated wages your on... Now FFP has kicked in, Nobody is going to pay ridiculous wages for average players anymore, thank goodness.
Guest ttfn Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 I have more sympathy for the players than most on here, but if asked the question, how hard is it to say "I don't think it is appropriate to comment on that. I leave contract discussions to my agent so that I can focus 100% on playing football"? Nobody gets upset, leave the politics to the slimy bastards behind the scenes.
Guest MattP Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 Do people not realise that these players are constantly getting asked the questions rather than requesting interviews to come out and say this stuff? Granted they could refuse but they want to keep in the minds of the powers that be. Either answer it like Pearson did, refuse to or say it's upto my agent and the club. To say they are worried about their futur when their weekly wage exceeds the national yearly average wage is frankly insulting. I'm pretty uncomfortable about this, the cynical side of me thinks they are positioning themselves. Take the plaudits of we go up and they play well. Blame the contract situation if performance level drops.
Guest MattP Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 "It can't become an issue because otherwise it becomes a distraction," Pearson said. "Let's focus on the job in hand and that's winning games. "I just feel it's an issue that's being ramped up a little bit too much. I don't see any reason we can't get on with the job without having reassurance all the time. "We have got to get on with the job. I'll get on with mine and I expect the players to do the same." Nigel Pearson hitting the nail on the head. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25349044 I just love this guy, completely knows the score.
Tuna Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 What is the matter with these whingers? Do they think they are the only players with contracts running down? Instead of moaning about it, get on with playing and earn it. And England international? Are they taking the piss?
Rhysm Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 When the interview is solely about the matter in hand, and you agree to the interview about it, it's pretty hard or stupid to sidestep it. Common sense says just answer 'this is in the hands of my agent so I can concentrate on my game' Instead they are trying to get public sympathy which sadly does not seem to be working too we'll

Granted they could refuse but they want to keep in the minds of the powers that be. The powers that be will already be fully aware of the situation surely?
Dan Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 I just love this guy, completely knows the score. He's boring though. He can't be a good manager if he isn't dealing the ultimate excitement of paying big name players £25k a week
Loggy88 Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 The players must realise what's the point in getting new contracts when we don't know yet weather were playing on the premier league or championship next season? If your the owners you don't go around chucking money around with new contracts until you know what next season holds. They need to stop talking about this crap and get back to winning games starting today.
Greatness_Since_1884 Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 What's disappointing for me is the apparent lack of communication between players and club. The response from all the players is "We haven't spoken about it" Surely if the club is in a position where it would like to offer contracts to Wes, Nuge, Kasper etc. but financially cannot then tell them that is the situation rather than brushing it under the carpet. Can it be hard to say 'Look you're an important member of our squad and should you get us to the Premier League, you'll get your deserved pay rise. If you don't, then we'll sit down and re-evaluate and chances are we'll still offer you competitive Championship wages." I doubt any of the players will sign pre-contracts elsewhere in Jan, unless there with a PL club (unlikely), because then they'd be throwing away a great chance of promotion. My only worry is a QPR or Forest making a big offer and unsettling our players.
kingpower84 Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 think the players should put the effort in before asking for there next big contracts koncheskey game today was poor moan moan moan nugent scored most of his goals from pen spot these players should think what the fans are doing using there days off work and using holidays and buying season tickets and 50quid a game on away games just thinking of there next big pay day milking the club for more money
