Konch frustrated with contracts delay.

That's fair enough. All I want is players here that want to play for our club.

And there lies the real issue, let them show they want to and not go to pot like last season. If they are that confident in their ability then they will be assured of another club coming in and paying them what they want?.....I personally don't think that is the case sadly, on both counts.

I think Saturday we need a few "sign him up" chants.

Say we don't go up and Wes, Nuge etc leaves? Who are we gonna get that's better or as good to replace them all?

Susan Whelan is adamant we are going to meet FFP so why not offer the contracts?

Not saying this is the right way to look at things at all - but if the club aren't bothered.... Why should you be?

No we don't. The club will do what's right for the club at a level that's right for the club financially.

Chanting sh*t like this will just back the club into a corner and give those looking for a new contract extra leverage over the club (who wouldn't want the fans turning on them would they? Better add that extra couple of grand on...)

It's all very easy for those players out of contract to come out in the press giving it the "I really want to stay", "no-one's said anything to me about a new contract" or "I'm finding the contract situation unsettling".

It's all bullcrap because we'll see how much they want to stay when they're offered a deal that is right for the club to offer, they'll get a new contract if/when they deserve one not when they say they want one and it's such an easy thing to say you're distracted because of a contract issue.

How many of us go and play football each week as a release? Countless numbers of us have greater stresses and pressures than professional footballers yet when we're on that pitch (be it an astroturf or a muddy field) are we really thinking about the mortgage, the marriage or the job. When you're immersed in those games you forget everything else outside of that match which is why football is so important to so many.

Enough of the spiel in the local media. Get your head down and play. You're over-inflated contract will sort itself out in due course and if and when it's right for the club you're paid to represent.

You can have an opinion on this and dress it up as you like but here are the facts:

Players are all powerful these days

It's clear some of our key players ie: Wes & Nugent are not happy with the contract situation

This is probably going to **** up our season unless it's resolved very soon.

Nugents in a huff because no ****er can afford to pay him what he's currently on and we can't either. Wes is in a different situation in that many clubs are after his kind of performance at the back but again it's give or take if he will get same or more money. Kasper is the only one who's quiet about this because he knows he's sorted either way. If we go up we give him big money to stay, if we don't he gets his chance in the Prem somewhere else.

I agree with you.

But the bottom line is the same whatever the reason.

If these contracts dont get sorted our season is in jeopardy.

Personally if I was offering players contracts at Leicester. This is how I would go about it.

Contract 1. The Premiership/Promotion contract. We go up you'll have a wage rise and be on £????

Contract 2. The Championship/We don't go up contract. You'll remain on your current wage and/or have to take a pay cut.

Take it or leave it. Obviously this only applies to players that are nearing the end of their current deals.

This, and if they don't sign by January opening transfer window, start getting new signings in before this season turns into a farce, the last thing we need is being dictated by players.

Really? He is so over rated here, he gets a round of applause if he puts the ball out of play.

We should be more bothered about knockaert leaving who is best player we have had for donkey's years or Liam Moore who has been dropped for no reason.

Hence the word "arguably". Morgan hasn't reached the heights we know that he can, neither has De Laet. Moore has played really well in all but a couple of games, but Konchesky has always been very consistent.

Hammer meets nail head! Is the aim to achieve promotion or risk loosing everything come may? A big decision has to be made over the next few weeks.

I can see this being the downfall of our season.
If I was a player like Morgan I wouldn't be worried, I think either way he'll get a new contract if we do or don't go up. If he doesn't want one on reduced terms next year due to our financial difficulties then fine, off you go, you obviously show where your heart i$.
I can see why Konchesky would be worried, I wouldn't offer him a contract next year if we do or don't go up!
Seriously, the players are in a great position to achieve promotion here. Focus on that then you will be rewarded next year! I can see why they are worried, but I would be focussing on getting promotion that would get you a lucrative contract!

exactly! Surely the players realise 90% of them will be offered a contract with a higher wage if we go up, therefore they should be giving everything to make sure this happens, not crying out to the media and possibly making other players feel uncomfortable. Get your heads down and work hard ffs, and you will get your reward, i mean how many of these players will get big bonus' for promotion anyway?? Yet another incentive for them to work hard. I get what konch is saying, but he would have been better of keeping the fvck quiet!!

It's not the point whether one of us would take a pay cut for our jobs, nor whether they have a loyalty to us or not.

The point is they haven't really got a leg to stand on. If they're offered better deals somewhere else fair enough. If we'd just been promoted fair enough.

Otherwise, all they can do is get on with it.

Disagree Mack, I feel player power/agent power has thankfully been massively reduced due to FFP.

No it's down to the manager who he wants here nxt season.

OH but our owners can't even sort his contract out.

I've said for a while this is a game our owners need to sort come Jan half our squad will be looking for the off.

A contract with anyone is better than fvck all with us.

They could offer all the players a contract you get X if we are in the prem a Y if we are in the championship.

It don't even sound like they have even spoke to any of the players.

You would all be getting pissed off if your job was up in the air like this.

If someone else come in for you in jan you would be off better than waiting and ending up with nothing.

No it's not (Well yes it is, the way your have interperated it) but you must have misunderstood me.

What I meant when I said "Really it comes down to them" I mean they are the ones who will or will not get us promoted thus they will either be wanted here because they've proved their worth here and the club want them to sign a new contract OR they are in the shop window, clubs will be lining up to sign them up and the can move on if they really wanted.

Either way it's in their hands, they play out their skins, Leicester City FC, Nigel Pearson and the owners will want to give them a new contract, when we have a better idea of which league we'll be in and that we can afford to give them a new contract, but the player could think "Fuck that, they've fucked me about, i've got X amount of clubs after me, i'm off"

So really Leicester City FC have more to lose than the player but at this current moment in time we cannot afford to give new contracts out, should we get promoted that will probably be a different story.

At the end of the day the players need to knuckle down, focus and play for contracts whether it be here or for future employers.

This is all very silly. There is nothing to stop us offering them contracts on the assumption we stay in the championship (ie wage cuts) to give them some security. We would then give them the proviso we would offer them an improved contract if we are promoted, or have a promotion bonus or promotion pay rise within the championship contract.

Wouldn't put it past either of those two but I'm not sure.

We're still not out of the financial shitheap that Andrew Neville and Sven left us in. Even now the amount of money he blew is lingering over us.

Everyones got bills to pay. Yes its just my 20k a year just about meets my bills.

if you struggle to pay the bills on that a week then you need a reality check love.

Exactly, spoilt bitch doesn't know how lucky she is. There's people starving in the world and there she is moaning about her husband's 15k a week contract.

No one likes a pay cut is true, but as has been mentioned a 25% or more paycut would put you or me on the poverty line.

A 25% paycut for some of these players would have them on 500 - 750k a year still.

Players like Nugent and Konchesky should have millions put by already , so it is hard to feel sorry for there uncertainty in job security.

They will probably earn more between now and when their contract runs out in the summer than most of us will in 15 to 20 years.

The last round of contracts for these players was financed by debt, non-existent money on the basis that they would do the job and that could be paid back on promotion. That mode of funding is dead and buried under FFP. It is actually working much better than I ever thought it would because generally the league clubs are toe-ing the line.

There's a new reality for these players where clubs are pretty much financed within their means and the total value of salaries will drop dramatically. This is healthy for the long term sustainability of football in this country and hopefully LCFC can inch back towards the black rather than keep digging the debt hole. If these players are seriously suggesting that they can't function anymore because we are not meeting the expectations of ageing professional sportsman who are struggling to see the world change around them then I say if they wanted their next contract to be bountiful THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE THROWN AWAY PROMOTION LAST SEASON with that dreadful run of performances.

It's still sport and they lost so they don't get the rich spoils of victory. If that doesn't sit well with them and they throw this season's promotion away then they've got their heads up their arses and I say fvck 'em.

I was talking to my Mrs about this and she flipped a switch. "Can't believe the cheek of the stupid bitch" was how she put it. She went on a massive rant about how footballer's girlfriends and wives don't have to worry about working whilst they have children and have no real understanding of the real world. They put on this massive bullshit that they are just normal people and they have real world problems and understand where we come from but how can they? Have they tried raising their family on £60,000 a year and everything that entails? Have they ****. Footballers outside of the Premiership have got a real wake up call coming with FFP, in that average shit aren't going to be paid big money anymore and I"m perfectly ok with that.
