I respect the FA Cup but as a club we don't need the distraction this season.

We have a small squad and at this time of year we don't need the extra games and even worse the replays.

Keep it for another season, this season is about promotion.

I'm ambivalent towards the whole thing this season to be honest. No idea how anyone can be "glad" that we're out of any competition, at the same time it's a tournament we clearly weren't taking all that seriously and getting out of this godforsaken division appears to be Nige's priority, so I won't shed that many tears.

I'd suspect if we were a Premier League outfit fielding a weakened side a la Villa I'd be a little irked as you'd have thought we'd have sufficient quality within our ranks to actually stake a claim at winning the trophy, then.

They weren't the circumstances and yes I'm unashamedly fookin glad, no fixture pile ups, additional risk of injury and further fatigue. We would not go on to win the competition and I am delighted all we have to focus on now is the main prize.

We did excellently last year without the "distraction" of the cup, didn't we?

I'll say it.... im glad were out. If anyone thinks that makes me less of a fan, I don't care.

The FA cup is a distraction we really don't need, and the extra games/ risk of injury/chance of a tonking by a top 4 side is something we've now avoided. Anybody who thinks we had a genuine chance of winning it needs to have a word with themselves.

And I repeat, totally different circumstances this season to last, and I firmly believe NP has learnt a lot about squad management from last season too!

Exactly how I feel Gaz.

In what way are circumstances different bar the year we're playing in? Going well in January, things looking rosy...

Reasons I'm sad we're out:

-It's a fantastic competition that still has some of the magic that has eroded in the last 25 years.

-Tragically, we've never won it.

-Leicester (and myself) are yet to go to the New Wembley

-Had we got past Chelsea, there'd be the chance to visit a new ground

-No ticket/tv/prize money going into the club

Reasons I'm glad we're out

-We need to concentrate, since we're far from running away with it.

-I went to Chelsea the year before last, and we'd have little chance getting last them.

-Avoiding dreaded games in hand

-Less risk of injury

-We've already had an impressive cup run this season

So I voted No, I could never say "I am glad Leicester are out of the FA Cup", but this year- unlike at Huddersfield, Chelsea, Man City and all the years before- I'm not gutted in the slightest.

Squad has a better balance, high earners who were possibly unsettling the dressing room shipped out,4 points clear of 2nd 5 clear of third then a significant gap below, players have improved maturity and experience wise from last year, experience added......

So if anything we're better equipped to handle the cup, no?

said all I feel fella, personally glad we've fallen at first hurdle this year and not arguing with you. It's my opinion and I think I've clearly stated why.If your opinion differs, then fine, surely there is no definitive right or wrong in this sort of debate? I suggest leaving it there is the way forward.

Definitely glad. I wanted us to lose in a respectable manner and that's what happened, so it's all good. Unless you're a giant killer or until you're in the quarter finals, the FA cup is quite a dull competition, especially in comparison to being in contention for league champions. Since we're not giant killers or likely to have got to the QFs, it was never going to be anything other than a boring and risky distraction from the league, therefor going out at the first respectable hurdle was the best result we could hope for.

Didn't vote as there's no neither option.

Although I prefer us to do well in cup matches, I don't think going out early is a bad thing when you're sitting top of the division with a small squad of players. We can do without the extra matches, replays, rearranged league games leading to fixture pile ups and teams overtaking us because we've played less games.

I always want my team to win, but I can't say I was that bothered about losing 2 - 1 to a Premier League Club away from home. Nobody should be down hearted, it wasn't our full first team and over the last 2 games key players have had a well needed rest without it affecting us too much. Whilst the old adage winning is a habit and breads confidence, I could also see a cup run being a bit of a distraction, the potential for fixture backlog, suspensions, injuries and should we have continued to progress 'minds wondering'. Don't get me wrong, as a fan I'd love us to win the FA cup, but it wasn't going to happen this year, particularly with Chelsea away next - this could have been a real hammering. I'm also hopeful Derby having to play a full strength team for most of the Christmas period and having one less day recovery may take its toll on Friday.

Quite a few people on here were saying that its a shame that the FA cup isn't taken seriously. Small attendances etc.

Well if you really believe that, I'd suggest that neither does Pearson. Putting out a side which, as Babs said, was missing 5 of our best players, is not giving ourselves the best chance of beating Premiership opposition.

If anyone feels the FA cup has 'lost something' whilst agreeing with Nige's team selection, then a little bit of hypocrisy is going on...

Not really, I had no problems with the team Pearson put out. Let's remember that plenty on here have complained that Nugent should be dropped and Schlupp given a go, Morgan apparently hasn't been in great form and Miquel has done well when he's played, we still had plenty of quality and experience out there with the bench to call upon. Dyer has played every game this season and his style will take its toll at some point.

Love the fa cup and always want to Leicester to do well in it.

Before the game I thought we could beat stoke and still think we could on our day but I'm not over ally worried about going out as we had a good run in the capital cup and in a fantastic position in the league.

I just see it as the weeks off will help the players especially ones carrying knocks but will the fringe players get a run as much now! Works both ways

Many have summed it up already.

Not happy to lose. But happy to sacrifice the cup for concentration on the league. I'd say the same if it was the League Cup also.

Having said that, I think the team that we put out could have been better. In the cup, goal difference doesn't count, so **** it! Put 4 up top and go gung ho!

clicked not happy purely because I never want to see us lose, however if I was ever to say "if I could choose to lose a game narrowly 2-1 away from home this season" this game would have been it
