Anti-Climax Signings

Was buzzing about Keown and especially David Connolly (same day).

Then Waghorn when we got him permanently.

Then Mills.

Next time I get excited by a signing, you all need to worry.

Fook me, has everybody forgot Ade Akinbiyi? he was the beginning of the end. FACT !

Oh yes... he is arguably the worst with Mills

Going a bit old school here but remember when Pleat signed Mick Kennedy and he was an absolute abortion. Also one of good old pleatys marquee summer signings was a highly ranked diminutive Scotsman hailed by all and sundry as the next big thing and a superstar in the making. His name was, er, Billy Davies.

Vassell - I didn't expect a 20 or even 15 goal a season striker but found his goal return very frustrating.

Think that's a little unfair, Vassell was a lot better than I expected him to be. In his prime he was never really a goalscorer.

I meant to say I thought he was reasonably good for us despite goal every 5 games part but pressed post too early   :P

Recently it has to be mills, built up hype yhat he was the next walsh/Elliott and was everything but. Utter garbage and his attitude stank.

Wayne Clark was a massive disappointment. Jimmy Quinn also as he was the countries top scorer for Swindon when we signed him.

Although  it was Pleats fault for not playing him and sticking with Mike Newell and Nicky Cross however they were playing. Quinn went on to be prolific everywhere except at Leicester which sounds quite familiar !

This guy was the worst player In the history of the worst football players.

Do you remember when he went mental, ripping his shirt off after he scored the worst clumsiest goal ever? Also he had countless one on ones with keepers that season and missed the lot.

Brian Carey, signed from Man united, surely got to be good.  :nono:

Nicky Mohan, chased by Little for ages, utter garbage,

Then we broke our transfer record for Mark Blake

Mark Robins signed for a Million, the first name player we had ever signed 12 goals in 3 seasons

I think I stopped expecting much from then on, partly because O'Neill rarely signed big name players but mainly because I had been disappointed so many times, I now reserve judgement until I actually see them play for us. Even when we sign players that I've watched play well week in week out in the Prem, it doesn't mean they will actually play well for us.

I don't think anyone was actually excited by the signing nor by the amount of money we spunked on him.
