dayday Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Has there been a player we have signed that has got you really excited and yet you have ended up disappointed. For me it was Darren Eadie, after watching him play for Norwich, this was a major coup for us,a fantastic footballer ....but terrible injuries cost us and him dear...i was gutted we never saw the best of him.
Harry - LCFC Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Mills. Thought he was going to brilliant for us.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Matt Mills most definitely and possibly even someone like Dion Dublin
pazzerfox Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 It has happened the other way as well, where I thought to myself 'Who the hell is he" (Muzzy Izzet being a fine example)
Brooksy Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 5 replies and no mention of Beckford. He was disappointing. Didn't expect him to be that shite.
pSinatra Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Roberto Mancini I know he was getting on a bit, but he did squat when he was here
Unabomber Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 5 replies and no mention of Beckford. He was disappointing. Didn't expect him to be that shite. The fact that we had been linked with so many strikers that summer and that he was literally a last minute signing meant that I wasn't that optimistic about him doing well for us.
Simonb Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Beckford fernandez mills kaebi yes plus de vries after his previous record
HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Mills, Kaebi, Fernandes and Eadie are all great shouts but I imagine this thread could go on some time so I will add a couple. Matthew Jones - Huge price tag. Michael Johnson - Massive potential once. Carl Cort - thought he may re discover his punter ability. Danny cadamarteri - see as above. Tunchev - Those damn injuries. Arnur Gunnlaughson - always liked him at Bolton. Tommy wright- only because he had the same name as the older one. I know he came trough our youth but whenever I think of him he disappoints me for simply not being his namesake. I know a similar fat man who runs my local kebab shop called 'I Mustapha Kebab' Izzet? No it isn't. Damn you Tommy Wright. Sorry, off on a tangent.
HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Love the fact where I went for the word Younger my phone has opted for Punter. I am not suggesting Carl Cort ever indulged in any illegal activities with ladies of the night.
Stuliasz Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Stan Collymore - made me realise why you should never have a player's name on the back of your shirt!
Captain... Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 I was going to say Johnson, was genuinely excited by that signing... I think it is harsh to say Eadie and Jones, not their fault and were decent players when fit.
BigHeadLCFC Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Yann Kermorgant looked quality on YouTube but then errr
Kitchandro Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Half of everyone Sven signed in 2011. All but two Sven signed in 2011.
Guest seanfox778 Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 David Connolly, although he turned out ok in the end, I was so frustrated that he took so long to get the ball in the net regularly. He was a hard worker though.
Guest shearfox Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Beckford Fernandes Mills Danns Pantsil St Ledger
cambridgefox Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Stan Collymore - made me realise why you should never have a player's name on the back of your shirt!I thought he was brilliant just for his home debut Hattrick .Game changer.
FilbostreetPen1 Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 For me it has to be dj campbell, jimmy nielsen (the next peter schmeicel we were told!), martin keown, waghorn (after such a promising loan spell) & then both steve guppy & paul dickov wen we re signed them.
Fatbloke Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Martin Allen made 14 signings NONE of whom played in the last match of the season v Sheff W ! who were they ?
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 I was never surprised by Beckford and said as much at the time, only to be slated on here (surprise surprise) by those believing he was going to fire us into the Prem. The player I was really surprised by was Matt Mills. Reading's captain and, I believe, player of the season, turned out to be fookin awful. Literally rubbish when on the ball and not much better defensively. Of all Sven's daft signings, Mills was the worst, vis a vis my expectation of him.
