adam1 Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 Stearman goes straight into the Fryatt category for me. Gets such unwarranted abuse. He was a very good player. The defence we had when we went down was pretty impressive just let down by the awful midfield and attack! Richie is a cracking player. Decent defensively and excellent going forward. Another fantastic Pearson signing. We had the second best defence in the league that season. Only one goal worse of to wolves.
Mack Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 When he is fit he is a superb player, of Premier League quality for me. However he seems to be made of glass. He has 3,4,5 maybe as many as 8 games in a row then gets injured. So many like him before have not achieved their potential because of persistent injury, I really hope this is not how his future maps out.

Haydos Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 Has Naughton been playing much for Spurs this season? Wouldn't mind seeing him back. Not been particularly impressed with Was and I think we need to keep Moore and Morgan at CB.

He can play in both full back roles very well and wouldn't cost an awful lot of money.

He was never the best defensively, I would hope he's added a bit to his game the last couple of years and from the improvements some of our players have made I think Pearson and our coaching team certainly have the ability to help players grow. Probably not even on Nige's radar though, he was a Sven signing wasn't he?
brockmyster Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 I heard the real reason hes got a knock is due to going out and having several pints, he said to Pearson that this new drink called champang is decent, Pearson didnt agree so he headbutted him I heard it off my friends wifes sisters boyfriends pet snake so its got to be true.
Callabinho Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 I think De Laet has been superb this season.
ousefox Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 He makes such a difference when he plays. Worrying the amount of injuries he is picking up though.
Vardinhio Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 De Laet is a cut above at this level. The way he got back to stop a simple tap in was great covering, a future Prem player for sure!
MattGamble92 Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 What is with this torrent of abuse for Stearman? He was right back in a defence that conceeded the least in the league? ok, granted we had by far the worst attack but bloody hell. He was great on his day and certainly not as shit as you lot are making out! Totally agree with the De Laet post. I remember signing him and Matty James and seeing the response for most of the championship clubs saying we'd just signed two mediocre players who wont do anything. De Laet could easily be the best right back i have ever seen play for us. I think he is better than Naughton as an all round package. I'd certainly add him into the category of Premier League quality players that we have.
JonnyBoy Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 he is deceptively quick too. Bet he is as quick as Vardy over 100m

davieG Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 I liked Stearman he was a cut above most in the lcfc teams he played in and one of the few that were fully committed to the lcfc cause. It's always difficult to judge a players over all abilty and approach to the game as a lot of what they do is dictated by their manager hence why he was known for the long ball down towards whoever was plsying wide upfront at leadt he more often than not found his man unlike the other hoofers we had in the back four and many times in mid field.
Matt Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 Stearman was brilliant in his debut season, probably our best player that season, after that first season he went downhill fast and went from our best to one of our worst players, all in a time where our team as a whole were poor. I was glad to see the back of him when he left. I know a couple of Wolves fans and funnily enough they've got a similar opinion of him, apparently he was brilliant with them in his first season but they haven't seen that form since that first season.
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 I'm pretty sure peoples issue with stearman is he cried when we went down, said he would stay and then fooked off at the first opportunity!!

Towards the end of that relegation season he was our best player by far,it was no wonder we got a good price for him.....do people actually think Wolves paid decent money because he was crap?
Kitchandro Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 Towards the end of that relegation season he was our best player by far,it was no wonder we got a good price for him.....do people actually think Wolves paid decent money because he was crap? Fvck was he, Hume and Kisnorbo were our only decent players in the whole season. Stearman was average at best, his passing was dire. Not one of the worst we had a time but he still wasn't impressive. He proved to be a joke at the higher level, and his level is probably where he was with us, at a struggling championship side who play ugly football.

He started off a bit iffy defensively but he actually became very solid as the season went on. I still think De Laet is fairly dodgy defensively at times himself. I do like Ritchie but Naughton was different class. I'd have him back in a heartbeat.

Ok will disagree, like i said towards the end of that season he was head and shoulders above anybody else, and that includes Humey he was stuck out in no mans land on the wing.
