How much have we actually spent on our current squad?

Considering lots of our players were youth products as well that will have added to their fees too. Looking at the prices we paid some of then will now be worth more and in that cases we could potentially make profits on all of them. So they are wise investment as opposed a big spending spree.

When you consider what we spent on players not in the first team though:

Wood 1.25m

Waghorn 3m

SSL 750k

Futacs ?? 500k?

Gallagher 1m

7 million on players that, apart from Wood, have spent more time this season playing for other championship clubs than Leicester.

I'm pretty sure Wes was under a million. He was near the end of his contract. Unless you have some inside info?

Yep. It's risen to 1.8m now.

Wonder how much we have actually got back from the players sold since the sven era, i think we got 850k for peltier

We got 1 mil for Marshall & 750k for sol

Yeah but if your talking transfer fee's alone it's also a massive myth that QPR have spent big.

From their starting 11 against Ipswich they paid money for one player and that was Austin (4 Mil) Rest were free's or loans.

Then look at the bench and you've got 15m worth of players.

Knockaert was £800k moving up to £2.4M(ish) after add ons? Anyone know what they are likely to be my guess is the rest will come if and when we gain promotion.

That's a fair old bit for Knockaert then, and would explain why everyone thinks it was either 800K or 2.4M.

Futacs was a free transfer wasn't he? Released from Portsmouth. In think because we have had gally for ages as well we have had £1mil worth of games out of him (by modern football standards). Agree with waghorn and SSL though.

It's all about the wage bill  - £27.7million in the 2011/2012 accounts.  Although that covers every employee and not just the players.  That's a big figure for the Championship.

Its worth while noting we've not considered the cost of loan fees over the last 2 seasons under Pearson. We had quite a few last season they all mount up.

First several = 7

Now quite a few = 3

Lingard (1 month)

Keane (half season)

Kane (1/3 season)

On the players sold front:

Peltier: 850k

Bamba: 750k

Mills: Unknown

Beckford: Unknown

Marshall: 1Mill

If we are thinking about loan fees paid out, what about loan fees coming in, we have had a number of players out on in the last few seasons?

Marshall was a Pearson signing.

Wow! Twenty several point several million pounds is a lot.

Our team's hardly full of stars that's the thing I don't get about the "big spending" Leicester comments. They weren't too displeased to see the back of Kasper, De Laet and James were basically unknown when we signed them, Morgans played Championship or lower his whole career, Konchesky is old has lost a yard and we weren't his first Championship side, Moore's a youth product. Drinkwater has been out on loan at several very average Championship clubs and was sent back on every occasion. Knockaert was a no one from from the French second division, Dyer's been here since the League One days, Vardy's a million pound conference player who was garbage last season so you're really left with David Nugent who could be considered a big name as he's played Prem/International football and it still in his prime, and he was free.

Then we've got the biggest clown in the division as a reserve keeper, another two youth team products, and Gary Taylor Fletcher who couldn't get a contract at Millwall on the bench, and we've just signed a 40 year old....

Definitely a textbook blueprint for storming the gates of the Premier League if I ever heard one.

By contrast, there is an interesting comment on the BBC deadline-day blog today: "In January 2013, Queens Park Rangers, Liverpool and Newcastle United contributed more than half of the total spending. Queens Park Rangers and Newcastle United were also amongst the top three spenders in January 2012."

No indication on figures, but it is surprising if Austin is the only player for whom they paid a fee.
