Has anyone been to Marco Pierre White's restaurant in Nottingham?

Yeah we went there before Froch v Mack, decent restaurant. Would recommend, I had a T-bone.

A friend wants to go for a meal and a few drinks there for wetting his babies head.

Now he's a parent he doesn't think it's acceptable to sit in Hooters all day drinking and making comments to the staff.

Miserable, you can do both tell him.

I'm barred from Hooters in Notts, an incident before Leicestershire v Nottinghamshire a few years back and we were plastered by 11am on double vodkas. Ended up knocking over a table, insulting the staff, trying to steal food.

I ended up sat outside the city ground with an ice cream with my cock out at about 3pm after being ejected from Trent Bridge. Completely lost my mates until the train they three out of the five of us decorated that on the way back with various bodily fluids, police were waiting for us at Leicester.

'Insulting the staff' you mean you got your c**k out and said something along the lines of "it's not going to suck itself" :D

I can't remember to be honest lol it started over arguing over the price of a double vodka and ended up on the Hillsborough disaster, bizarre to say that the least.

Sure I won't get recognised if there now anyway.

Very nice Italian in Anstey, I think it's called Sapori, in the old working men's/social club.

Very nice, can't believe I forgot that.

We got a voucher for there at Xmas. We'll probably go in the next couple of weeks, looking forward to it.

Glad you reminded me, I had been thinking of going there for a while now but had forgotten about it.

Oh how I envy mattP and his lifestyle.

Don't knock it till you've tried it Ken. Try sitting outside the boozer with a 99 in one hand and your todger in the other and see if you like it.

You'll really enjoy it Webbo.

I'm going to go for New Years Eve next year, its 60 quid a head and that includes free wine, entertainment and a three course meal.

A couple from my local went and got said it was terrific.

It isn't a case of showing 'how poor one is' it is not spending more than one needs to. Some go on about people on benefits wasting money on booze and fags and i would view paying a vast amount out on a meal the same. If you do not earn mega bucks for whatever reason you tend to watch the pennies. If you can afford to spend £100 plus on a steak that costs a fraction of that to buy prepare and serve then fair do's and I'll grant you bragging rights but do not knock people that do not.

Even the most exclusive restaurants can fail to cook your steak to your liking.

The last place you ate at left a chip on your shoulder Ken!

The skills of a team of outstanding Chefs deserve their rewards as much as anyone else.

Not always of course but generally if it's more expensive the standard will be better.

It was, venetian steakhouse in Las Vegas, impossible to finish though, must have been 30oz.

Blue, I always have it blue or rare, anything above it ruins it for me!

Had Steak blue in Croatia last year, was worried it was gonna start moo'ing. Not for me.

Ive had the luck, 1) to travel world wide and 2) and often have my meals paid for in top suggested restaurants.

Expensive IMO has never guarranteed quality of food or service.

Ive had some of my best food off the streets and markets, Yes Ive had also top food at some top restaurants.

Especially at so called top restaurants, I wouldnt expect tea being offerered in teabags, but it happens.

Asked for liquer coffees, Irish, Russian French, etc, also been let down in top restaurants.

In Vienna went to a top hotel restaurant. ExCELLENCE PURE, plus price was no more expensive than the normal faire

offered elsewhere. Steaks in USA in 3 figures, lets get this right, not necessary not in the USA.I like them rare aswell.

But its poor kitchen that can ruin a steak and its presentation. In europe for steaks there is a difference between

Fresh and frozen. FLORENCE the fresh florence steak...T-bone takes some beating. ARGENTINA steaks hit or miss really.

Being piratical and prudent leaves a chip on my shoulder?

I agree a team of skilled chefs do deserve their reward.  but that does not guarantee perfection. Should i pay out money I do not have? If i had the despoable income I may do. What is wrong with that way of thinking?

I've had some fantastic cheap meals in places where you'd probably steer clear. From squid at an Italian fish festival served in a metal take away tray, the pizzas I've had in Italy have been the most basic yet most flavoursome ever, found a locals place in morocco with one dish on the menu and a cauldron of soup at the front. The waiter took us into the kitchen were we had a chat with the chef and he knocked us up a special platter all for a couple of quid. In France I ended up in what I was sure was someone's dining room where you just paid what you felt like, again another simple meal but beautifully cooked chicken. Best t-bone I had was in Mexico cooked with garlic and butter.

Back on subject though I took the family to the White House in Scraptoft on Sunday for a cracking carvery at a good price.

Not really a fan of restaurants, much prefer to cook something myself.

Can't beat wetherspoons beer and a burger deal for value food though.
