Freeman's Wharfer Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 It is any part of the body that you can score with i.e. not the hand or arm. As has been said - any part of the body that can be scored with (so, not hand or arm) - and his upper body is beyond the defence: offside. Still looks offside. Wasul and De Laet and standing square whereas I think Forrestieri's arm, chest and head is off. Think his head is just ahead of Wasilewski's heel so might just be offside. Tough to call to make though.
Fatbloke Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 I didn't see it live but have seen replays and these pictures and he is clearly onside. Wtf are you all on about. I watched the FLS before coming on here an offside didn't even enter my mind until about 400 threads on here. And the assistant couldn't be any more bang in line looking at the still 2 or 3 posts up. He scored, get over it. Hiss off !! miles and miles and miles OFFSIDE you have your view others have theirs you get over it, illegal goal that cost us a win end of !!

foxes_rule1978 Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 The linesman certainly got some unfair grief for that decision, even with TV Replay it was hard to see , I think it is onside and very tough to defend against. Just good forward play anticipating where the ball is going to go.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Personally I don't think the defending was that bad, as a former half decent centre back, I'd be looking at my mid fielders to pick up the third man run, so we can't really put much blame on Was or Wes. From the midfielders perceptive, Deeney has cut in and shaped to shoot pretty obviously, so James' and Drinky's first thought isn't going to be to pick up the man making a questionable run through the middle. Really, it was a bit of a co-incidence that Forestieri has got on the end of that, even if Konch had picked him up, he would have played him on side and probably wouldn't have been able to get goal side to make a clearance.
Spiritwalker Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 From SK1 I was convinced he was about 5yrds off, however having done the same as the OP last night it seems it was a good call by the lino (probably his only good call of the half).
MooseBreath Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 uhmm, I think the rules say he's onside, so it's not benefit of the doubt, it's onside. Yeah but it wouldn't have been physically impossible for the linesman to see it, he's running too fast and it's too close. Therefore the linesman must have been in doubt and has given them the benefit
topharry123 Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 To me, it looks like he's about 6 inches onside when the ball leaves his foot. At the time I was sure it was offside, but looking back in super slo mo I think it was just an excellent run coupled with a great header. Some may disagree, but this makes me feel a lot better about it now.
allotment-fox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 The blokes on side. looked well off to me at the time and listning in the car on the way home if radio Leicester had a gun Jock Young said he would "shoot him" ! needs retracting
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Just my opinion, which I have just as much a right to express as you. Still, it doesn't matter. The linesman didn't give it and that's that. ThisVery tight either way He got a lot wrong in the rest of the game though IMO however it is a difficult job in fairness
deep blue Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Stringer & youngy reckoned that the goal was yards offside and the linesman was yards behind the play. Just shows you have to take their commentary with some caution. Makes me loth to make any comments about the game given that it would be based on their reporting.

El Sieffsi Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Good grief, the amount he`s OFFSIDE here can be measured in acres !!!! Zoom in on the pic and look across the cut of the grass where Wasilewski's trailing foot and the penalty spot is..looks onside to me.
Alexikokopops Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Zoom in on the pic and look across the cut of the grass where Wasilewski's trailing foot and the penalty spot is..looks onside to me. You're wasting your time. Fatbloke's a WUM.

This. A CB can't hope to pick up a man moving that quickly from a standing start. If he's anyone's man, it's James, but F****tieri ran backwards before picking it up, and you can see why James lost him. Realistically it was just brilliant (lucky) timing on their part, clever running and a great goal. Back on topic, it was onside, and even if it had been marginally off, the fact we're still discussing it means there was no clear error. No complaints. Couldn't have been happier with the timing of James' goal-we're a very hard team to beat at the moment, which is rare in a team scoring and attacking so freely. Great times for a Leicester fan...
El Sieffsi Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 You're wasting your time. Fatbloke's a WUM. Possibly..but if he ever wants to buy some land..I'd be more than happy to help.
foxfanazer Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 I was certain at the time that he was offside and although I've not seen anything conclusive I think on reflection you have to give him tge benefit of the doubt. Great header too
Haydos Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Great call from the lino tbf, in real time he looks a yard off. Like others have said it does show what a tough call it is to make. Credit to Forestieri as well, that's some great poaching.
Simonb Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 was a great instinctive goal and wasyls back foot is playing forestieri's front onside.... id look for any excuse against a team like watford to say it shouldnt have counted, but i genuinely believe this was a great run and instinctive finish Youngy n stringer said he was at least 3 yards offside and the ball bounced off his head (deflected) in, and implied it cuda been a hand ball, what were they watching?
Soup Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Looks about level to me.One thing I've learnt though on this sort of thing is to maybe trust the officials a bit more. After all there in line with play and focusing on the ball,as appoused to me standing at the back with 5 or 6 pints in me.
