Guest Col city fan Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 I genuinely couldn't believe some of what I was reading on the forum last night. We are still riding high, top of the table in a hard-fought championship. And a draw at home. Yet, some were accusing us of not putting in any effort? There were threads also, criticising Nugent and questioning Dyer. Now I'm no happy clapper , but some of what was written last night really made me wonder where some of our fans are coming from and what would make them happy? Yesterdays game was a tough, scrappy affair. I personally have no qualms in Watford's negative tactics. They were playing the top side, in us, and did what they could do to keep us out. It was a decent draw, in awkward conditions, which keeps the pressure on the chasing pack. We are in a great position (who genuinely would have predicted such a lead, before Christmas?), yet there is still moaning clearly going on. Now is the time to stay positive, get behind the lads completely and continue to take games one at a time. We may well have a blip. If we do, keep believing that the same squad who got us into this position are the ones who can take us up.
Fox92 Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 I think people need to chill out a bit. We're top of the league and our players are all contributing well. I'd be worrying if we weren't creating chances.
Collymore Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Well Said! Took me a few seconds to realise that the Joachim video is apart of your sig! Was sitting here trying to link it to the OP!

That makes it sound as if people have continued moaning all this time. That is not true (seenitall's brief comeback aside. What's embarrassing is people are unable to separate criticism in a single match with continuous moaning at the team and disapproval of the situation. We weren't at our best yesterday, things will be said in relation to the match. Nobody has claimed the wheels are coming off or Pearson and the players are crap. Now get the fvck over it so we can all move on.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 It was a lacklustre performance at best col til the 80th minute where we suddenly seemed to realise we were going to lose so started pressing/hoofing and generally looked like we were looking for the equaliser. Its an observation rather than criticism. Its been said before that we sit back a bit early on and suss out our opponents and then hit them. That didn't happen yesterday.

Or maybe just give Watford a bit of credit. They defended very well. I've seen us better, but it wasn't as bad as a few have made out.

I've seen us better, but it wasn't as bad as a few have made out. I'm taking nothing away from them. But as I stated in the post match thread- De Laet wasn't anything like his usual quality self in going forward. There was one particular chance had in the first half where he'd have almost been clean through on goal had he been in his normal attacking position. Dyer as well was only given the ball into his feet where I feel he's least comfortable. Granted he rarely had space nor the time/opportunity to kick and run. I felt some of our challenges in the middle of the park were a bit half hearted and Watford then picked up virtually all of these loose balls. I know this is Foxestalk so I realise you either have to agree with a post or you're classed as negative or putting players down. But I'm not. Watford did well and we weren't at the races for most of the match. I'd probably blame the fans more than the players for what was a dire atmosphere. Its hardly going to gee the players up is it?
Bluetintedspecs Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Totally agree Col, all this crap after the team had just taken 28 points out of 30 in last 10 games. Having seen the highlights on FLS, firstly I would like to say I was harsh on Nuge, the opportunity in the dying seconds was very difficult and he did well to swivel and get shot away in a split second, secondly the linesman was right however a bit of passion and vitriol is what being a supporter is about surely? Even the most optimistic on here, myself included, would not have envisaged our recent points haul and our overall position. I am contemplating giving FT a miss for the next 10 days because any more of the finger pointing and moronic threads may just tip me over the edge. A little ditty to commemorate our recent record breaking (for us) winning streak. 9 green W's sitting in a row 9 green W's sitting in a row Did anybody beat us? The answer is fookin no Cos there was 9 green Ws sitting in a row
Unabomber Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 I didn't read foxestalk last night but I am astonished to hear that people were moaning.

It's ironic that De Laet being so far forward cost us the second. I'm not saying I disagree with you on the point, it's just ironic. Disagree we weren't at the races. How can you not be at the races when you pin the other side into their own half for an entire 45 minutes? We played as well as we have done in the previous nine games, just didn't get the rub of the green. I'm inclined to agree with Col here, there's been some real moronic posts since yesterday. Not all the criticisms, but most of them. Especially the anti-Lloyd Dyer threads. He's one of our most effective players - how does he get it in the neck on here every week? I think it's because people on here are 1. Incredibly reactive (we win and we're going to be world champions in the next five years, we lose and it's Pearson-out) and 2. Can't separate a result from the performance. Yesterday we were much better than we were at Leeds and every bit as good as we were at St Andrews - but there wasn't this wave of negativity on this board after those games. It's frustrating because it deters a lot of sensible posters away from the board.
Unabomber Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Lucky you bomber, they're still fookin banging on this morning too! Wow, it's such a shame. Folk need to appreciate the amazing work Nigel and the team have done so far and not shit themselves if we draw a game.
Deucalion Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 We've had a great season so far and all credit to the management and players. But...is it just me that thinks our level of performance has dipped since the Derby game? We have scrapped for points and got wins anyway, but not with the same style as previously. I fully expect things to get more difficult from here on in. Not moaning about it though !!

I agree this place is very much all or nothing. But you of all should know I'm not like that. Likewise anyone who frequently bothers reading my posts. I stand by my points in the previous post. There was just something missing for the majority of the game yesterday. I can't describe bit as anything other than desire. If Bluetintedspecs and Unabomber want to confuse these observations as moaning then thats their owm issue.

LCFCCKEANO Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Well someone behind me actually attempted to boo us off at half time, fvcking moron.

I stand by my point that after 28 from 30 or 29 from 33 points and sitting where we are I found some of the bitching and moaning incredulous.
l444ry Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 I couldn't understand why so many people around me were offering their strange views without allowing for the gale force wind the lads were trying to play in. Staggering!!

The post wasn't aimed at you - more the more dramatic "it's time we dropped Lloyd Dyer, he's shit" types. I disagree with your assessment of yesterday but you weren't the kind of poster I was talking about. The point of a forum is to find people you disagree with. There's a difference between a valid opinion and complete tripe. Well ive not read anything where posters are, 'shitting themselves over a draw'?? See the Lloyd Dyer 1/10 threads and the time to drop Dyer and Wasilewski threads. Unbelievable stuff. It is heartwarming to see that the majority of responses are in disagreement with the thread poster though. The lunatics haven't completely taken over the asylum.
FrankieADZ Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 if we go up, will realism hit some moaners....to the fact we'll lose a hell of a lot more than we'll probably win. moaning for moanings sake some people

What did the people who are complaining about yesterday think to those days!?
The Year Of The Fox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 In fairness I don't even read threads that slag players off. They're only morons anyway and it does nothing but piss me off. Fair enough if you meant the second half. But I'd still counter that by saying we only looked a threat in the last 10mins or so-after the subs came on. Fair play to Nige for risking 3 up front though I definitely wanted them on sooner as it was obvious to me we weren't going to score another in our usual slick manner
