norfolkfox222 Posted 18 February 2014 Posted 18 February 2014 looking ahead Burnley v Forest on Sat... Draw gotta be best result surely
LCCFox96 Posted 18 February 2014 Posted 18 February 2014 Saturday provided a good result for us with 2nd and 3rd taking 1/6 points. By avoiding defeat at forest we can make that 2/9 for 3 of the other top 5 and maintain our gap at the top. A good round of fixtures in my book.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 18 February 2014 Posted 18 February 2014 Lead over third down to 9 points after Derby won at Sheff Wed, need at least a point at Forest to calm the nerves.
weller54 Posted 18 February 2014 Posted 18 February 2014 Sheep were very lucky tonight winning 1-0 at Sheffield Wednesday.... Added pressure on Forest tomorrow now though!!!
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 18 February 2014 Posted 18 February 2014 I cannot remember a promotion battle like this in this league for ages, the top 5 are so strong. Considering Hull went up with 79 points last season, all the top 5 teams this season will beat that points total comfortably.
Foxhateram Posted 18 February 2014 Author Posted 18 February 2014 Damn them sheep! Bar ram you! Still 9 points clear and have a game in hand over them. Could be up to twelve points clear by the end of tomorrow. This is a good strong battle this year. Never boring is it?

Foxhateram Posted 19 February 2014 Author Posted 19 February 2014 Burnley Forest will certainly be an interesting game. Will be interesting to see if Forest set up differently against them then us. The league is so exciting this year! I do feel for the teams lower down though they haven't got a chance of catching the play off pack now, almost nothing to play for for them already. It still stands out as one of the most competitive leagues in the world though.
Foxes Blue Blood Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 Lead over third down to 9 points after Derby won at Sheff Wed, need at least a point at Forest to calm the nerves. Derby win a game and they close to 9 points but they have played an extra game to us, they have 15 to play, lets look at their next 6 :- Bournemouth Burnley Millwall Bolton Reading Nottingham Forest Lets see what the points tally is after those matches. KEEP CALM
Foxhateram Posted 19 February 2014 Author Posted 19 February 2014 Tough run in for derby there. They will crumble. QPR are off form which is nice to see, Burnley are wobbling, it looks good. It's in our hands now, we just need to keep picking up points.
lancyclaret Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 Derby were lucky to get 3 points at Sheff Wed last night like we were lucky to get a point at Bournemouth on Saturday - looking at the fixtures I'd say Derby have a better chance of 2nd place than Burnley, QPR or Forest. As a Burnley fan, if we don't get 2nd, I'd rather Forest get automatic as I think we'd have enough to beat Derby or QPR in the play-offs (if we get there). Forest and Reading would be tougher.

Lucky or not they have the points, it's interesting that you don't mention playing us in the play offs

Think Derby are on a roll at the moment and although they have some tough games coming up i really don't think they are going to crumble. That's a big game for you Lancy!!...good luck

That's a big game for you Lancy!!...good luck It depends what you mean by crumble Bournemouth are likely to come away with a point Burnley very tough game Millwall In the relegation fight Bolton In the relegation fight Reading very tough game Nottingham Forest very tough game I think they would settle for about 10 points. Obviously those matches against Burnley, Reading & Nottingham Forest will help shape the final top 6 places
lancyclaret Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 Derby have a dreadful record against the good teams but have dropped the FEWEST points against bottom half teams - they haven't lost against a bottom half team unlike Leicester (Doncaster/Charlton/Sheff Wed), Burnley (Middlesbro/Huddersfield) and Forest (Yeovil/Blackpool),Reading (Sheff Wed twice, Bournemouth, Blackpool, Middlesbrough) and finally QPR (Doncaster).
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 Expecting wins for QPR and Derby this sat, Burnley and Forest maybe a draw. If we win our lead at the top could be even bigger.
Happy Fox Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 Burnley have the Redshite and the Sheepshaggers coming up at home if they want to catch up with us or be in security in 2nd they have to win both of those games, but I reckon Dierby will take their place, in the coming weeks.
ealingfox Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 As QPR are at present prematurely inducing 'shit or bust' time, I'd expect to see them back in 2nd at some point fairly soon, with the others playing each other.
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 I'm not so sure a Burnley Forest draw is the best result for us. As much as it pains me to say it I think a Forest win is.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 I would prefer a Burnley Forest draw and both teams dropping 2pts, hate to see a Forest win. Do not want them anywhere near the top 2.
ealingfox Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 At the end of the day everyone down to Reading could feasibly catch us, Burnley and Forest are both promotion rivals, so 4 points dropped in total (the draw) is better than 3 points dropped in total (home or away win).
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 QPR and Forest now look the most vulnerable to be caught by the chasing play off hopefuls, I would love it if at least one of them dropped out of the top 6, Wigan are becoming real top 6 candidates, if Reading can find some consistency then QPR and Forests play offs spots will be in serious doubt.
foxfanazer Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Does anybody know what the prize money is for the top.6 places

Forest are in deep trouble if they don't go up this season, they can't be meeting FFP, and will be hit hard. QPR have the parachute payments so are probably going to get away with it
