Brooksy Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 I wanted Burnley to beat Forest and I want them to beat Derby too. Sod them pair. Lets get further ahead of third and lets bring a bearable club with us. Agreed. That would put us 13 points clear of 3rd aswell, surely a lead too big.
lancyclaret Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Without being over-confident, for the first time this season I believe Burnley have a decent shot at automatic after last week's results. If we don't finish 2nd, I am sure Derby will.
LanguedocFox Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 I'm probably the only person on this forum who wouldn't mind Derby and Forest coming up with us. I grew up in Loughborough and had Forest and Derby fans as mates, although Derby were never in the same division as City until the mid 70s. I've always enjoyed the rivalry, and tonking Derby (as we did in January) is always very special. Winning the last match of last season was brilliant, but made all the more special for me because it was at Forest. On the other hand, I want us to go up as champions: just like we did in my first season following City.
Bert Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Why would we take 2nd when we're almost certain to finish in the top 2 anyway and we're likely to do better and finish top? Leave it up to fate I would say, I'm confident enough in these boys. Totally missed the point. Get promotion first and then win the league. That's what we were trying to get at.
Kitchandro Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Totally missed the point. Get promotion first and then win the league. That's what we were trying to get at. I was only really replying to the above poster who said 'I'd take 2nd now'.
ScouseFox Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Agreed. That would put us 13 points clear of 3rd aswell, surely a lead too big. If we win...

Leave it up to fate I would say, I'm confident enough in these boys. Well it doesn't matter because it was hypothetical, but what is better, being almost certain to finish in the top 2, or being absolutely 100% certain to finish in the top 2? I can't be the only one would who would take guaranteed 2nd right now. What kind of Leicester fan are you? There's still plenty of room for us to finish 8th
Dan Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Agreed. That would put us 13 points clear of 3rd aswell, surely a lead too big. If it happens then we'd need 9 wins from our final 13 and that's to mathematically secure it - and this is relying on the top two both winning at home. Even Leicester can't blow this in my opinion. I'm confident we're going up.

On the flip side could you see Derby or QPR winning 10/14 of their last games should we win 6/14 if you understand what I'm getting at? Because that's what they'd need to do should we win 6 from 14 as well as us surely picking up points from the other 8 games.

Precisely what I'm getting at. 9 wins out of 13 isn't beyond this side at all. Are Derby going to be four wins better than us from now until May? I highly doubt it. If two teams manage to overturn us now then we're beyond anything I've seen.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 Hoping and expecting Mcormack, Wickham, and Kebe to give QPR a real test tomorrow. 1 point from 12 could easily be 1 or 2 from 15 after tomorrow.
Guest Col city fan Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 I agree with Bert.. promotion first. That's always been the aim. To win the league is but a bonus. An achievable bonus, but a bonus nonetheless.
Mark_from_USA Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 Not bothered about any other side these days, except the side in front of us, which is Charlton. Do what we would reasonably be expected to do in the next 5 matches, and promotion will just about be achieved.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Derby play an in form Bolton at home on Tue and Reading away Saturday, two difficult games for the team currently in third. It's probably going to be QPR sitting third come sat evening, they have Brighton away and Yeovil at home. These fixtures should mean more dropped points for the 3rd and 4th teams. Forest and below now irrelevant in terms of catching us.

Could seriously see Forest dropping out of the playoffs in those 3 games
Rincewind Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Burnley have a few winnable games remaining so we have to keep our form up. I can see the others dropping points though. Not as consistent as the top two.
ScouseFox Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 tough next 3 for derby. could see them dropping 4 or 5 points out of them if we get lucky. qpr losing to brighton would be party time later, too
MGLCFC Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 QPR have three winnable games - hope they drop some points at Brighton tonight. Think Derby and Forest will drop off the pace. As long as we don't lose to QPR and Burnley, then I can't see too many other games (apart from Wigan away) where we won't pick up points. Do Wigan play the cup semi final anywhere near when we play the re-arranged fixture? Would be great if they play us midweek before the semi final.

Unfortunately not , we play Wigan 10 or 11 days before the semi
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 On the positive side Burnley and QPR still have to play Wigan as well
fuchsntf Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Could seriously see Forest dropping out of the playoffs in those 3 games No matter what the city-forest dislike, and neighbourly clashes maybe, I would prefer Forest to gain more points than Burnley in this 5 game period. It would keep Burnley at bay.....simples
Foxes Blue Blood Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Saturdays predictions :- Foxes v Blackpool Leicester 3 points Burnley v Leeds Draw this is a difficult match to predict, I think Mcdermott will really have a go at the players, will want to stop shipping in goals. On paper Burnley to thrash Leeds but this is the Championship, Leeds to take at least a point. Reading v Derby Draw Qpr v Yeovil Yeovil to take at least 1 point. Forest v Doncaster Forest won't win Ipswich v Wigan Draw
