Also hilariously got away with a certain red card against the sheep shaggers before setting up the winner and lifting the trophy. Any excuse to laugh at Derby.

There is no way Grayson can be described as a legend. He was a very average player and was second only behind Lee Philpott in the most disliked player category the season MON took over.

Absolute quality Agree with you Kaamark was absolute quality, though it's all a matter of opinion but Gary Mills was a far better footballer than Simon Grayson. I was never a fan of Grayson , an average player at best. Although he did win player of the season one year so maybe I am missing something.

He did improve and won himself a move to Villa but I can't remember anyone being too disappointed. His worst crime was crossing; the number of times we watched him get down the right at Filbert Street then cross it into the Kop is testimony to that. However we forgave him everything when he took a pass from Joachim and played in the ball of his life for Droyd at Wembley. Taylor saved then Steve Walsh picked up the scraps. Good lad, useful player but slightly preferred his fellow Yorkshireman on the other side .....Iron Mike Whitlow.

That was special, Derby were a big spending team at the time and we beat them with an injury ravaged side, good times.

artursteppe Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Players I've seen, Pedro Rodrigues, Stevie Whitworth and Pontus Kaamark were all better than Grayson. Pontus was the best ever. However, none of them scored a goal for Leicester that was anywhere near as good or memorable as the one at Wimbledon. I was one of the 8000 blue army that were there, marvellous!

Agreed defo up there as one of my all time favourite Leicester away days. Athletico Madrid away was a good experience but a bloody nightmare on the coach. NEXT STOP NOU CAMP!

Was Grayson a midfielder turned RB? I cannot remember. Pontus Kaamark was the best though. He came as a 'utility player' and played a run of games next to Thompson in centre mid late in the 91-92 season, including at Wembley I believe. Oldfield had had a stunning season but he couldn't find form again after injury. After that he was in and out of the side and played virtually every position on the pitch at one stage or other in the 92-93 season. When Mills got injured in 93-94 he made the RB slot his own and kept it all season. I think he was player-of-the-year twice; that year and again a few years later. But he was a favourite in that way we all tend to love someone who we know, truth be told, isn't particularly talented (Ormondroyd, Willis etc.). He was dreadful in his first PL season and only hacked it the second time around because, out of nowhere, he learnt how to cross a ball. No surprise his career sank at Villa. From what I've heard he regretted that move for the rest of his days.
