And now United have performed something of a PR boo-boo by insisting that season-ticketholders who do not buy a ticket for the March 19 return leg of that last-16 clash will be banned from attending the Manchester derby six days later. Supporters today received letters which state that the deadline for purchasing Olympiakos tickets is 8pm tonight. The terms and conditions of United’s season tickets stipulate that failure to buy additional tickets for cup matches (although there are some exceptions, including the Capital One Cup) forfeits the holder’s right to attend the subsequent Premier League match – in this case the visit of Manchester City to Old Trafford. A United spokesman said: ‘The terms and conditions are clear: “In respect of each home cup match for which the ticket holder fails to provide valid payment card details or for which the ticket holder’s card or payment is declined, the ticket holder’s season ticket may be suspended for one home league match.†‘This measure was introduced at the start of last season. If we successfully sell the ticket the fan has failed to pay for, they can apply for a refund of the City ticket at the end of the season.’

If this turns out to be legit and I were in a United fans shoes I would completely boycott the club, because its pathetic

So if a fan has been a season ticket holder for years, they can't make the Olympiakos game for whatever reason, they're the one in the wrong when they buy the season ticket the next year? Sorry but it's indefensible. Absolutely no-one benefits. It's just ***** abusing their power because they'll get away with it.

Vlad the Fox Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 So if you don't by a ticket for a match not included in your season ticket they remove a ticket you have paid for. How can that be right? Whether it's in the t&c's or not someone should challenge it, they can't accept payment for one product then withdraw it because you don't buy a second product later on. Disgraceful behaviour I'd be off to fc of Manchester.

Not saying its a right from Man Utd, it's not at all. But in this instance the fan had agreed to these conditions when they bought the season ticket. My point is legally the fan is in the wrong. In an LCFC season ticket it says they have the right to refuse the holder admission at anytime at the club secretarys discretion. If they decided not to let you in randomly next time you showed up for no reason at all I wouldn't blame you because you "knew that was in the conditions" when you bought it MUFC's behaviour in this is absolutely disgraceful and shows the contempt clubs have for fans when they know they can sell every seat for a game.

No matter how poor they've been this season surely Man Utd fans can't be put off from attending the 2nd leg due to losing the first leg. Even if season ticket holders don't purchase tickets they'd get snapped up by other United "fans" anyway. Though it wouldn't be right if they were then punished by not being able to use their season ticket for the Man City game.

Seems like pure media manipulation to get everyone to hate man united, to me. Don't get me wrong, some people already do, it's just the timing of it that I loath... just about the only people in sports I hate more than man u are sports journalists....
