inckley fox Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 I don't "hate" players. As above, "hate" is a strong word... I take a dislike to players though, although the only player that applies to in our squad is Gallagher but he's at another club at the minute and will be leaving our club soon. I don't get the dislike for Nugent though, I do find that strange/ridiculous when you consider what he has achieved at the club. There have been a few players over the years that I couldn't tolerate. And that includes a few that others worship (Sturridge stands out - always hate to see a player laughing his face off when he misses a sitter). Mostly, though, it's for poor attitude rather than a lack of ability; I loved Ormondroyd, Oldfield, Coatsworth, Grayson... even had time for Lawrence, Lee Marshall... if they put in the effort I'd be happy. Except for Brian Carey. I'm ashamed to admit it but the guy tried his heart out and I still remember imploring Little to remove and possibly mutilate him at half time against Wolves back in 93 or 94. Had a great game in the Play Off Final though. Right now there's nobody. From time to time you doubt players, but there's a big difference between doubting someone and hating them. If we were to look at the extended squad, then Gallagher and Danns - they'd be the closest, but they're a bit like the Royal Family I suppose: Pretty pointless these days, but not really hurting anyone.
RizLCFC Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 How do people know that SSL is a bad egg? Fair enough he seems like someone who enjoys himself away from football, but he's always at the games supporting the players, he's allowed in the dressing room, and from his interaction on twitter it seems he gets on well with his team mates, so why does his name crop up when ever this sort of thread is created? I'm not targeting anyone, I'd just like to know if he's done anything, whilst at Leicester, which suggests he warrants the 'bad egg' title, because I can't think of anything, maybe I missed something.

He said he was unhappy before Sven was even fired because he expected more first team football. Then he was transfer listed within a few weeks of Pearson arriving because of a fall out with the manager. And he's been dropped for pretty much two seasons, and on the list.

inckley fox Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Don't you mean Jimmy Willis? Both of them, unless I'm mistaken... maybe I am mistaken!
Kitchandro Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Both of them, unless I'm mistaken... maybe I am mistaken! My bad, I didn't think he played in that game but I just checked and he did.

That fall out was media talk, and even if there was one he was reinstated in the team after that and it was all smiles between him and Nigel, he's been injured the majority of the time he's been here too.

hackneyfox Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 I did 'hate' PVA and Ricardo, but they weren't really ours. They really did piss me off. Of our permanents I've only really hated Mills and Kermorgant and they brought it on themselves. Some of our players have been very harshly 'hated' though. There is definitely an element of scapegoating when things go bad. I wasn't a huge fan of Ricardo but he was a much better than Weale. Weale I really disliked (as a player) by the time he neared the end of his time with us.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 I think hate is one of those over used words I believe that to truly hate someone, you would have to of known them to hate them That's my tuppence worth anyway
hackneyfox Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Being a football fan is all about passion, when we're losing people get upset and lasg out, in the main they have a more balanced opinion post match. You only have to compare the match threads to the post match threads. Amuses me no end, and frustrates me, that if you question a players quality in a match you are seen by many as a hater. I think hate is one of those over used wordsI believe that to truly hate someone, you would have to of known them to hate themThat's my tuppence worth anyway I'd agree with that with the exception of Dennis Wise and Ian Hume (when he missed that penalty).
bovril Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Some people get really precious about Dyer. Amuses me no end, and frustrates me, that if you question a players quality in a match you are seen by many as a hater. This has to be the most annoying Americanism in the English language, used by people who don't like to debate anything.
WinslowFox Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Life is far too short to hate anyone over a game of football, well maybe I could make an exception for Billy
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Hate is a strong word The only LCFC player I have ever "hated" is Dennis Wise Dennis the Menace. I loved the guy. Gutsy geezer.
Zingari Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Konchesky doesn't get much love on here. I'm a bit of a Konchesky's objector
tokyo_fox Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Yeah hate is a strong word. Have never hated any City player (to my memory!) but there's been many I haven't liked. I look back with fondness to Brian Little's 1994 play off winning team but at the time I think I used to slag the majority of them off quite a bit! So with that in mind maybe there's not as strong a link as one would assume for not hating any players because they're generally doing well! Anyway, always room for improvement!! As long as each and every player puts in the effort, fans are generally happy enough I think
Alex_LCFC Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 He's not here no more obv but I can't stand Robbie savage. I think he's a tit. He has one of those faces and his voice grinds me down.
tokyo_fox Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Well Savage is one of those marmite players who fans either love or hate!! he always gave it his all on the pitch and so I loved him for that when he was at City but that soon forgotten when he was playing for another team, especially the sheep sh*ggers!! I actually think he's great on 5 Live too as he's not afraid to upset anyone and gives it fairly straight while also letting other take the p*ss out of him!

If so I absolutely hated Dennis Wise and make no apologies for it: Hated him before the Davidson incident, or that minor business of him trying to get our club shut down, so you can imagine the feeling hasn't exactly softened. Much the same could be said for any player who gets a name for stirring up trouble while simultaneously offering next to nothing on the pitch. Matt Mills might just creep into that category.

I'm with you there mate. Hated the little turd. So glad those dark days are well and truly behind us. In recent years I've disliked players like Mills, Beckford and Dannzy (to a lesser extent - perhaps just an irritation).
The Horse's Mouth Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Savage is a cnut but that's one of the reasons I like him.
kingfox Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 The days where Danny Drinkwater was 1st on my victims list. I'm glad to say, I like all the players atm. Someone get onto the Daily Mail about that, well worth a spread.
