I genuinely think our current team could compete

I think their is a gulf followed by a shelf that we will need to bridge then climb before we are anywhere near Premiership survival standard.

I very much doubt it would happen even if we were established in the prem but I'd love us to sign Ciro Immobile.

Great Squad , Manager and owners at present but a massive leap is needed to stay in premiership.

I would like a team of talented, hard working team players next year with Pearson in charge but we are going to need some good additions to survive.

If we do survive each year will get easier after year 3 -however in year 2 we may get sussed out.

Irrespective of what happens next season (if we're in the prem), I want Nigel to build a legacy with us. I want him to stay at the club for a very long time. He is genuinely one of a kind, and I honestly can't fault anything he's done at any point in his 2 spells at Leicester.

Spot on! I think we will be the surprise package next year!

I wouldn't want Sinclair or Rodwell as they always seem to injured. And certainly not Jenas. I understand we will probably need about 5/6 players, who we sign I trust that with Pearson.

I reckon Ryan Bertrand would be a decent replacement for Konchesky. Realistic shout too as he's currently on loan at Villa.

not at the mo but if Luke shaw goes there. There always being linked to a LB but until someone new foes there I don't think they would sell him. He's a wasted talent unfortunately like a lot of our young English lads. I think Bertrand would be great at us tho

The one thing I see most in Nige is loyalty. You just have to look back at his career to see that as well. Over an 18 year career he played for three clubs, and you look further back he served in the Falklands as a Helicopter mechanic, which is where I imagine is where it originated. Coming back to us as well proves this further, and I see him staying until he's forced out again or feels he's done as much as he can with the club. Hopefully, that's a solid mid-table Premiership side, possibly even higher.

I don't want to just throw stats in your face but I was just looking at the last 12 clubs to get promoted. 8 of them sacked their managers in the first season. Of the other four, Rodgers left Swansea for Liverpool, Bruce and Allardyce are still at their clubs and Holloway stayed at Blackpool despite relegation.

I know we would all like to think that it'll be different here but I'm guessing that's what Newcastle, WBA and Southampton thought. 3 teams that did brilliantly and yet all sacked their managers. It's an unfair world. Let's just cross our fingers and hope that our owners have more sense.

Palace - Holloway - SACKED
Hull - Bruce - STILL THERE
Cardiff - Mackay - SACKED
West Ham - Fat Sam - STILL THERE
Southampton - Adkins - SACKED
Reading - McDermott - SACKED
Swansea - Rodgers - Moved to Liverpool
Norwich - Lambert - SACKED
QPR - Warnock - SACKED
Blackpool - Holloway - Relegated
WBA - Di Matteo - SACKED
Newcastle - Hughton - SACKED

Lambert went to Villa surely?

I do agree though. Things are great now but owners tend to panic when there's any sign of trouble. And if Pearson did do a really good job in the top flight he'd soon be poached by a bigger club.

We all have this dream of Pearson leading us to glory over many years but reality says that it's very unlikely.

It will be interesting to see how he handles some bigger names,

It's blatantly obvious that he wont be able to build a squad good enough to be comfortably clear from relegation with all championship signings, He is not stupid and knows he will need to sign players with experience. Unfortunately with that normally comes a price, Either in wages, Fee, Or attitude!

Can see somebody like Jenas coming in TBH, Rated him for a while

Jenas? Have you been boozing?

Ah, you're right... Lambert fell out with the Norwich backroom staff after they refused to let him talk to Villa. He resigned...

Can't wait to see Pearson in the Prem, himself and the staff know the type of players that are required to acheive results and stay up.

I think if the owners gave him 20-30Million, he would spend it very wisley and bring in some great additions and im 100% confident we can stay up next year with Pearson as manager, just hope the owners don't panic and give him time to build a premireship squad. ( and I think they will give him the time, there not really trigger happy and understand how it all works )

Next year will be an intresting time for sure and I can't wait.

The current crop of players are more than good enough to compete and im sure the majority will make the step up, after all its a team game and its the reason why we are sitting top of the league, of course we will need to bring in new players but I think most of our current will be in the mix.

At some point Pearson will leave, either get sacked (hope not), get poached by a bigger club or even retire with us.

Love the bloke, honestly wouldnt want anyone else managing our club.

It will be a sad day when he does go, lets get the job finished this season, and hope we can finish mid table (or beyond) next season in the prem.

I can't express how much I actually love the guy being our manager. Gutted when he left, thrilled when he came back. Have always believed in him, even during that horrid won last season... There's only one Nigel Pearson.

I agree with everything you say

Here we go... we aren't even promoted yet and some of you are wanting/expecting top ten!

Tell you what.. let's get up, see who we retain, see who we sign and, like this season, take it one game at a time.

Forget the top half of the table. Our mini league will be battling it out in the bottom half. Do you imagine the likes of Hull, West Brom, Southampton, West Ham etc won't strengthen in the summer?

Avoid relegation, consolidate, keep building and then see where we are.

I can see us starting to really kick on after probably three seasons of staying up. Anything else would be a bonus IMO.

I tell you one thing. Nigel Pearson will NOT be putting any extra pressure or expectation on his players. Neither should we as fans. If we start losing a few and the boo boys come out in force, it won't help one little bit.

No workshy, 'big name' bench warmers need to be brought in.

A season long loan of a top prospect from the big 4 and a bit of creative talent from somewhere like France along with a big signing from Championship.

No more is needed

All the signings will be well researched & their attitudes will fit right in and add to what he's already built & not upset the Apple cart

Posted

Pearson won't sign overpaid players that don't like working hard like QPR did but I doubt he'll go too foreign the way Newcastle have.

He'll get the balance right.

WE HAVE TO GET PROMOTED FIRST THOUGH

Newcastle might well be looking for a new manager soon

I don't think they're in the market for someone who can kill with his headbutts though!
