glenelgfox Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 There is always "english" cricket to soften the blow for us Aussies going out in straight sets! :-)
Corky Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 This is the final insult today. Giles OUT. Absolutely, Giles has had four series now (no Tests obviously) and the signs do not look promising.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 On the positive side, we would have been chasing 183 if Dernbach had been playing.
notnow john Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Mart This is the final insult today. Giles OUT. He's had plenty of opportunities and cocked it up. Unfortunately your doubts about Dernbach have proved correct. Who do you would do a good job in Giles place
Voll Blau Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Utterly ridiculous that we're the nation which introduced this format and now we're a laughing stock. I think the comfort afforded to many players by central contracts has something to do with it. How can you judge whether someone's actually the best in the country at what they do if they're not regularly vying against the best of the rest at county level more than once or twice a year? I know there's quite a gulf these days between domestic and international cricket but a little more competition has to be healthy, plus having England players playing regularly for their counties again would do the gates no harm at all either.
Guest MattP Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Mart He's had plenty of opportunities and cocked it up. Unfortunately your doubts about Dernbach have proved correct. Who do you would do a good job in Giles place I think Robinson and Collingwood would do a decent job. Though I'd love to see Beefy or Athers get involved but I don't think either of them want it.
RowlattsFox Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Really enjoy watching this West Indies side, always play with smiles and carefree attitude, and there seems to be a great team spirit. Hope they win it.
Guest MattP Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Really enjoy watching this West Indies side, always play with smiles and carefree attitude, and there seems to be a great team spirit. Hope they win it. Just absolutely made for this format, two great spinners and an outrageous line up of hitters. Shove Chanderpaul and Sarwan in the middle of this and they would have a great shout at the 50 over tournament.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 If only they had the patience & temperament for test cricket!
marko Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 A quick question for our friends Down Under - Will Finch be hung, drawn and quartered when he gets back to the Colony? It's just that he got a massive nick on the ball, didn't walk and batted you to victory. I trust Darren Lehmann and the media have publicly persecuted him already
marko Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Anyone see that womens run out? Which one?! It was like a Hussain masterclass in running between the wickets!
purpleronnie Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Will have to wait for youtube! Here you go mattp. I haven't witnessed so many mistakes since the clegg v farage debate. http://www.sportskeeda.com/cricket/video-mid-pitch-collision-hilarious-run-out-womens-world-t20/?ref=sportspage-recent-3

glenelgfox Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 To top off woeful English winter of cricket, Aussie ladies thrash England to win a 3rd consecutive T20 World Cup. :-)
marko Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Nice to see Sri Lanka win, especially for the retiring Jayawardena and Sangakkara. I also have an irrational dislike of Kohli, Raina and Jadeja so it was even more enjoyable
StanSP Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Well done Sri Lanka . Far, far better on the day. India didn't turn up.
Guest MattP Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Which one?! It was like a Hussain masterclass in running between the wickets! Thought I'd post this in here as I don't see you post that often in GC! Great to meet you tonight and share a drink in the 1884 bar, didn't have much time but a lovely conversation and give me a shout over if you see me again, great to put a face to a name!

Great to meet you too, young MattP. You were far taller than I imagined! I'll certainly give you a shout if I see you again and we can put the cricketing world and AnotherShitSeason to rights Shame about last night's result but at least doom-mongerers will be pleased. Hopefully catch you soon!
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Well done Sri Lanka . Far, far better on the day. India didn't turn up. I didn't see the final but what happened to the Indian innings? Only scoring 130 I would of expected them to of lost loads of wickets, but they only lost 4! It reads like they went down with a whimper.
