Fox Ulike Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 I've given Joey Barton my two penneth when he get's all self righteous. The only Leicester player i've ever given any stick to on twitter was Paul Gallagher after his completely inept display away at Chelsea where he fannied out of several challenges and was then spouting off on twitter himself. He deserved it. OK well unless you can repeat what you actually said to Gally on Twitter it's hard to say whether it counts as abuse or not.
Vicki Vixen Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Not sure there was any mention of quitting the game, just the club? There wasn't any mention of either. Her question was "did you ever think last year about giving it up?"
Bluetintedspecs Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 There was obviously some sensationalism from the media perspective, however, it does highlight what damage the keyboard warriors with sausage fingers and pea brains can do! Just fookin support your club and think beore you type.

foxfanazer Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 He's become my favourite city player this season. Love his energy and his pace. His ffinishing has improved a lot too. Drinkwater has been our best player but Vardy isn't far behind

JonnyBoy Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Foxestalk made him the player he is today, what a statement. We don't know how ****in good we are on here, we even have the ability to turn an also ran into a 'future England striker!' If you believe half the shite posted on here when did i mention foxestalk made him what he is today? you absolute tool
seenitall Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 A fascinating thread this - on the one hand apparently no one ever reads what is on here, then we find they probably do. On the other hand, we have plenty on this thread saying we should support all City players, yet even the NP faithful and Vardy lovers have been vehement in their appraisal of Beckford, Mills, Nugent, Konch etc. So what we are really saying is 'sorry we said you were crap when you were crap Jamie, you've proved us wrong' which is great and if him being made aware he was crap by the comments on here helped him to improve in any way, then it was all worth it for all of us. He was woeful and out of his depth when he arrived here - this site is little more than a Tripadvisor for football players and managers really - if you stay in a shit hotel you go online and say so - they improve or no one stays there. If you are a crap footballer or manager get better or get shit written about you - its the real world. Alternatively don't earn £10 - £20 grand a week being in the spotlight and get a regular job where no one comments about you online. In otherwords, thank God he manned up and got good so we didn't lose our million we paid for him. He has repaid his managers belief.

In otherwords, thank God he manned up and got good so we didn't lose our million we paid for him. He has repaid his managers belief. And the fans' belief, (well some of the fans) I saw enough in his first few games here to believe he would be useful at this level, I certainly didn't see a woeful player, I believed then that he could do a job at this level. Last season was one of transition for Vardy and James, Drinkwater, RDL, Knocky. All of them showed at some stage they had the ability, but that they weren't there yet. We are reaping the benefits this season from having a bit of faith in the players we had rather than trying to build a new team over the summer. The difference with Beckford, Danns, Mills, Nugent and Konch is that they are experienced professionals, playing regularly at this level and above, they shouldn't have needed the bedding in period that others did, as there was no justification for their poor performances, other than that they aren't actually that good, the only one that had any sort of justification was Mills in that he couldn't cope with the pressure of the transfer fee and being made instant captain, but as Bolton are finding out, he is actually just crap. When you buy an EPL academy product or a non league player or a French league 2 player, some will need time to bed in, and having a team of young inexperienced players, despite their qualities, cost us last season as the mental pressures got to them, fortunately they have come out stronger for it (except Marshall), but it really was a mistake from NP, one which he learnt from and improved the squad with some experience. I honestly think it is a difference in perspective, last season Vardy through on goal snatches at a shot and drags it wide, some saw a poor finish, others saw a great run to get in that position in the first place, I'm glad I see the positives, otherwise I wouldn't enjoy football half as much as I do.
hackneyfox Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Yeah but we are not Vardy's 'co-workers'. Pearson can rip him a new one if he wants... The fact that you pay money to watch a football match doesn't entitle you to insult and abuse other people - regardless of how well they are paid. if you go to a posh restaurant and your waiter gets your order wrong, do you scream "You useless ****er get back to serving burgers at McDonalds. I pay your wages". Do you then boo them every time you see them walk past your table? No. Of course you don't... because you'd look like a total failure of a human being. BUT this is exactly what some people do at football matches. What’s the difference? Wrong analogy If I went to a restaurant and had the best meal and service I'd ever had I wouldn't start cheering either. If I go to a restaurant and either the meal or sevice is poor I'll take muy business elsewhere in future, football fans don't do that, they turn up week in, week out and for providing support like that they are entitled to make their feeling known when standards slip. It's all a matter of just how you make your feelings known.
Monsell1976 Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 I'm sure vardy would have quit the club, the best payday of his career. This is what I hate about social media, the famous people and followers are as bad as each other. When things go well for the person in the limelight, people arse lick them to the point of embarrassment, and they lap it up and boost their already inflated ego's, when things go bad, the person in the limelight whines and cries about abuse on the same sites. In vardy case I think it was him doubting himself wether he could step up, and in my opinion at the time was he couldn't, but due to hard work he's has made the step up, so now he can enjoy all the arse licking again, but he needs to remember he's got to step up yet another level next year, so either quit these social media sites if things don't go well, or stop going on about quitting a club that pays him a very good living, because a few fans have a go at his form.

He wasn't, he started off with four goals and good play in his first six weeks which helped us to the top of the table. Then hit went off the boil, for whatever reason. Still didn't justify him being booed on to the pitch as a substitute.

Then hit went off the boil, for whatever reason. Still didn't justify him being booed on to the pitch as a substitute. Everybody went off the boil... That's the point for me. And despite Chris Wood's good form when he first joined, I don't think his continued inclusion in the side helped. Finally, the signing and playing of Kane was a managerial decision by Pearson that I never ever got. So Vardy only really had the chance to shine this season. He's stayed relatively injury free and playing in a much better, established side. That said, he's improved dramatically as an individual player.

It's all a matter of just how you make your feelings known. Well why not you miserable sod? Turning up week in and week out doesn't entitle you to anything accept a seat in the ground. You are right though in that it’s all about how fans express their feelings. But we are not talking about people shouting things like "Bloody hell Vardy my grandma could have scored from that one". On Twitter, I understand that somebody wrote horrible things about Vardy’s children? That's what i'm talking about. Do you think that your £30 entrance fee entitles you to do that? Unless anybody on here is actually prepared to express things that they feel they are "entitled" to shout at players then we’ll be forever talking around the issue. What does a 'slip in standards' entitle you to yell at another person?
Rich Fox Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Wind your neck in. I didn't slate him last season, I simply held the opinion that maybe he needed to go out on loan for a season to find confidence and that maybe he was our 3rd choice striker. I still am unsure he'll cut it massively in the Prem against quicker defenders. As for calling me clueless and an idiot whilst talking in a thread about abuse and social media makes your judgement look ropier than a fan who sees a player under performing and makes suggestions to remedy this. How could he have gone out on loan if he was injured? You just need to admit you got it wrong about Vardy and take it on the chin. Your last point proves you have limited knowledge by saying he may struggle against quick defenders in the prem, have you not seen how fast he is. If he don't make it at top level it wouldn't be his pace it would be his finishing in front of goal
Dan Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Forget last season, some of the reactions when they were named in the starting line up in our first game of the season against Boro were absolutely laughable: http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/89689-boro-match-thread/page-1 I am actually crying with laughter. Aus Fox had a tenner on Vardy at golden boot at 125/1. Here's to hoping.

Totally agree with this people are just worming out of it now after he was slated. Fans slating him last season just need to admit they got it wrong and move on or they are just digging themselves into a bigger hole!

The "Vardy and Drinkwater in, fcuk it Pearson out" before a ball has been kicked is glorious. After a year like this where most of the morons have vanished or post ten times less makes it easy to forget how bad the abuse was. We really do have far more than our fair share of impatient idiots who know absolutely jack shit about the game.
Dan Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 I read in that Boro thread Vardy had a win percentage of 53% last season compared to 35% when he didn't play. Despite him looking really poor and low on confidence I always wondered if there was a genuine link. We played far better football with him in the side (even if he was quiet) than we did with Wood.

Bigtime, the chances and inconvenience for the opposition from his work rate is clearly very evident in that stat.

Bit hair splitty that....the whole team were average for much of last season and even St Nige didn't pick Vardy for much of the second half of it - obviously the FT massive would have picked him every week, knowing instinctively he was a gnats knacker away from being Suarez 2 which he now apparently is...........

Not really, you said he was out of his depth and terrible from the start, when he clearly wasn't as he scored four goals in his first 10 or so games and contributed a lot to a decent start. He then struggled, for whatever reason, and didn't get picked (maybe he should've done ahead of Pearson's bizarre selection of Harry Kane). This year he started well and has carried on that form throughout the season. He wasn't good enough throughout the whole of last season, this year he has. I'm sure he's worked hard on his game in the summer and pre-season last year.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 I think it does. He's got a high profile job where he is open to criticism more than your average person and he gets re-imbursed very well for it. Investment bankers work in quite a hostile environment which isn't for the faint hearted, they get ripped new arseholes by their co-workers and directors if they make mistakes and some can't hack it. Speak to some of them though and they'll be the first to say that the money makes it all worth while. Investment bankers do **** all to earn their money-they are working in private environments where individual failure is impossible and they are paid insanely well for, essentially, wringing the cash out of people and businesses and leaving husks behind. They deserve only abuse, and if you give me their twitter handles I'll gladly dole it out. Footballers on the other hand generally try hard for their club, and succeed or fail in high pressure environments. You want an example if a player ruined by abuse? I'll give you Ben Marshall. Whatever you thought of his capabilities, we all thought he had something at one point. The hostility towards fans and defeated, disinterested body language came after he was given an unreasonable amount of stick for poor performances. Thankfully, it didn't work on Vardy or DD... But trust me on the investment bankers.
