cc_star Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 The second part of last season? Do you mean the 8 minutes at Middlesbrough? (I know he gave away a penalty) Or the 10 minutes at Cardiff? Or the 15 minutes at Wolves? 8 minutes at Blackburn? 12 minutes at Blackpool? Or do you mean the one league game he started in the second half of the season those 70 minutes against Peterborough it was a shocking defeat, but you can't really blame Vardy as he had been subbed when we were 1-0 up. Maybe it was the Huddersfield games you are referring to, when NP went all experimental and also tried to play Wellens and Gallagher and Futacs. In our relegation form run of last season he played 12 whole minutes, there were many more unacceptable performances. Maybe you are referring the run of games he got before Christmas, when first Nugent got injured and Vardy had to be rushed back from injury and illness, then Waghorn got injured just as Nugent regained fitness. His performances then weren't as good as his performances at the start of the season, but we had nobody else (well Lingard and Futacs) until we signed Wood, which goes to my second point about understanding why a player isn't at his best. I'm not saying he is above criticism, but it is nonsense like this that makes it seem like persecution of a player, people are so blinded by the preconception they have of players that they convince themselves of things that aren't true.
Manwell Pablo Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 He didn't do a good job at Crystal Palace really. Their promotion had a lot more to do with the brilliant start under Dougie Freedman than anything Ian Holloway did. I'd say the clown did his best to derail Palaces promotion bid if anything. All Holloway did was tell the World Zaha was the second coming a lot in order to push his price tag up.
hackneyfox Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 So people who earn good money are not the same human beings with the same emotions as the rest of us Hackers? I know you're a staunch leftie but still... I didn't claim they were different, in fact I'm claiming they're the same if anything, given the choice between a poor salary or a ****ing good one I think most of us would take the abuse and the good salary. Staunch leftie .... wtf does that have to do with it? Just sick of celebrities who are happy to use social media when it suits them then bleat when they get some stick. As a footballer you should be used to getting praise one week and dogs abuse the next, it comes with the job.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Holloway's record at Palace wasn't that good. He won the key games at the right time (last game of the season, play offs etc) but overall not impressive stat wise. And Hackers, sorry if I misunderstood your point. But does Stan Collymore, for example, deserve the vile abuse he gets on Twitter just because he's a public (ish) figure?

I would happily admit that Holloway knows how to run a football club better than I do or any fans for that matter so abusing players for the manager's sake is pointless as far as I can see.

I don't think abusing managers or players is ever right. Constructive criticism on forums like this? I think that's fine, and if what you're saying is stupid (like the vast majority of the criticism of Vardy, Pearson & Drinkwater was last year) then people will pick you up on it. Ian Holloway is probably a better football manager than any of us, but that doesn't mean we can't point out that he's still not a very good manager.

You'll be surprised, managers are often influenced by fans and the media, as are chairmen and boards of directors, and it's sometimes for the better. I.e McLaren bringing Beckham back into the England team and admitting he made a mistake?
Manc Fox Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 It is a sign of the times i think, i was ashamed when "some" were boo-ing Saturday against Blackpool just because we were 0-1 down at half time. it is moronic but some must find it amusing to keep doing it. We all want our team to do well but let's remember that one team will more often than not LOSE!! Get used to it, we are not going to have it all our own way when we go up & if we put just half as much effort into singing then i think we will be our 12th man & give our team an advantage. Rant over!!
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Danny Drinkwater and Jamie Vardy both came in for unfair criticism last season Genuinely thought Drinkwater was one of our better players last season anyway and was just a bit inconsistent especially towards the end of the season. Jamie Vardy in his own right was very promising also to start with last season but faded a bit towards the end of the season Never personally gave either player any stick and neither should anybody else have done Moral of this story is give people a chance

It's the fans who abuse players or managers because they actually think they know better which baffles me. If Vardy is playing badly then Pearson knows better than anyone that he's playing badly, so it doesn't need booing from fans etc. Of course we are entitled to our own opinions, that is what makes football the best game in the world.
Ric Flair Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 What does money have to do with anything?? Just because you are paid well its doesn't mean abuse/criticism hurts any less. I think it does. He's got a high profile job where he is open to criticism more than your average person and he gets re-imbursed very well for it. Investment bankers work in quite a hostile environment which isn't for the faint hearted, they get ripped new arseholes by their co-workers and directors if they make mistakes and some can't hack it. Speak to some of them though and they'll be the first to say that the money makes it all worth while.
Chazwaz Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Link to video as i don't think its been posted. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26610749

The fact that you pay money to watch a football match doesn't entitle you to insult and abuse other people - regardless of how well they are paid. if you go to a posh restaurant and your waiter gets your order wrong, do you scream "You useless ****er get back to serving burgers at McDonalds. I pay your wages". Do you then boo them every time you see them walk past your table? No. Of course you don't... because you'd look like a total failure of a human being. BUT this is exactly what some people do at football matches. What’s the difference?
J.Lisemore Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 I really hope, with the likelihood of a difficult ride in the Premiership next season, that our fans don't turn on these lads. Its so common to criticise these days, I suppose its all about expectations but as long as we make a decent fight of it, I'll be a proud Leicester City fan.
foxoffderby Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 I know I'm going to get bashed now but I'm going to say it anyway here goes - the majority of social media sites are full of young people and they haven't seen enough football to make such sweeping statements about footballers. Vardy and Drinkwater included and I also think some of the comments about Nugent are harsh as he as been playing a withdrawn striker role. But I do agree with the fact if players do go onto sites like Twitter for example they do put themselves for abuse. You got to take the rough with the smooth or don't go on there in the first place. Just read another thread and some people don't think Wood is good enough for the Prem. Yet how many were saying he was the best thing since sliced bread when he first arrived? He is still very young a full international. I think we need to give players a decent chance. Too many people seem to playing FM and not living in the real world.
Mark_w Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Link to video as i don't think its been posted. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26610749 This was down to the pressure put on him by fans on social media sites and elsewhere. He didn't say anything about why he was considering giving up last year did he?
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Were people really expecting vardy to make a seamless transition from conference football to the championship?. Shows a certain lack of football knowledge if so
chapero82 Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 This reminds me of back in the MON's first season with us too how did that turn out and he still remembers it now
Strokes Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 I've not really criticized vardy but I have other players. How do we know that the abuse hasn't actually helped him?
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Anyone tried a fap to Nat? I'd love to be the first, but got a feeling those on here who slag her off are just trying to mislead the rest of us. Heard it on very good authority that Bilo and Heggsy knocked a tandem batch out to the interview she did with dirty Billy. Pathetic
MattGamble92 Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 What an awful interview. Just from that 1 minute video i cringed at least ten times. She sounds so nervous when she isnt around billy. She asked basically the same question 3 times and he given his usual "got to keep me head down and do it" response hes been giving stringer for the past year. What a joke
The Year Of The Fox Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 We really do have a load of arsehole fans don't we! Yep
Jace Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 I've not really criticized vardy but I have other players. How do we know that the abuse hasn't actually helped him? Do you get abused much?
