foxes2011 Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 if vardy lost his place due to a booking or injury i would expect it might be a straight swop for Wood as he has scored a few times of the bench and i don't think Phillips could play a full game. I would be interested to see five in midfield especially against a strong team like Burnley, could be something like this :

We are more than capable of beating Burnley so I don't see why we should pack up the midfield. IF Vardy gets suspended Wood deserves his chance, he's put in some good performances when coming on as a sub. Also if we were to play five in midfield I'd have Hammond holding with James and DD in front. But hopefully it won't come to it and Super Vardy can run riots at Turf Moor.
fuchsntf Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Drinkwater - James Mahrez - Knockaert - Dyer Nugent and bring Wood on if it's not working. Good call, and it is away.......hey come on , dont be shy ..........are you Nigel Pearson in disguise
lancyclaret Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 If Ings is still injured, I think it is only fair that you rest Vardy for Turf Moor. He deserves a day off.
VLC86 Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Dont go there again Wood and NP having a rift Apparently Nigel is sleeping with Chris Woods daughter
Guest MattP Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Might be time to just start to pull back now and make sure you don't get booked. Baffled anyone wants to change our formation as well.
KFS Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Surely he can go without getting a booking for two games?
MGLCFC Posted 18 March 2014 Author Posted 18 March 2014 I think if he gets to the last 7 games without another booking, then any bookings after that don't count - I may be wrong, but I'm sure I heard someone say that on RL.

Not sure he will manage that
bluesbrothers Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Wood and Nuge, switch for the Dad's Army later on. Simple enough and I'd expect them all to do a job. This game will be won in Midfield, and I have full confidence in our middle four to edge it and create enough chances for them all. Our defence will face a real test if Arfield and Trippier perform as they have been doing, especially with Ings probably fit to play again by the game. It's going to be a perfect test of their credentials for next season because, let's face it, Ings and Vokes will be Burnley's first choice front two next year... in the Premier League. Dropping Nuge is out of the question, as he's due to trigger the "score against your old club" clause in his contract at Turf Moor. Gonna be a tight game, with or without Vardy. Reckon we'll edge it 2-1 or 3-2, though I'd be happy with a draw as it'd still kill Burnley's chance to close the gap.
5waller5 Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 100% Kevin Phillips. Let him show how long he can last from the start and if it's more than 60 mins then sign him up for next season too.
ealingfox Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Bear in mind we have Wigan away a few days after; he needs to play in that too. Imperative he isn't booked against Blackburn and Yeovil.
Dan Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Surely he can go without getting a booking for two games? Have you seen the way he plays? It's nailed on he gets one against Yeovil ruling him out of (in my opinion) our two hardest remaining games. It's hard as well because I think if you play him and try to tell him to hold back from getting a yellow, he won't be nearly as effective. It's one of those things. 4-2-3-1 isn't a terrible shout but Wood... he's got to prove his worth.

If he doesn't trip the centre back up there he's not booked in that game..
foxfanazer Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 It's a catch 22 because you don't want him yo change his style because that has been the provider of so many goals but then u dont want him banned. His booking on saturday was completely avoidable though
Guest LCFC_World Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Chris wood. When he comes on he always seems to do well..
ealingfox Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 What is preferable? Deliberately getting booked against Blackburn so he is definitely eligible (and fresh) for Wigan or Chancing it and potentially missing both Burnley and Wigan or Resting him against Blackburn and Yeovil so he can't be suspended (and would be fresh) for Burnley, with the subsequent risk of missing Wigan ? Unfortunately I can't see him making it to the 2nd Sunday in April without getting booked again.
Dan Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 You can't say that yellows like the one on Saturday aren't avoidable. If he doesn't trip the centre back up there he's not booked in that game.. My angle of that was rubbish and Vardy was directly between where I was and there the defender he tripped was, so I can't really comment although I'll take your (and many others') word for it. The way he plays will often result in yellows though.
Grewks Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 If we win our game in hand, but lose at burnley, the lead will be 7 points anyway. What is everyone worrying about? 3 points against blackburn, yeovil and wednesday is just as valuable as 3 against Burnley.
5waller5 Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Given the way that a foul is now an almost instant yellow card he's done well to get this far into the season before picking 10 cards up. It's ridiculous - they are almost ridding the game of tackles.
Guest Col city fan Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 I'd go for Phillips and Nugent personally.
Grewks Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 I'd go for Phillips and Nugent personally. our game is all about pressing, KP couldn't do that.
