Guest Col city fan Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Did anyone see 'Dangerous Dogs' last night on tele (apologies, I can't recall the channel). If there's one thing in this world I hate it's cruelty to animals. I couldn't believe some of the things I was seeing and the RSPCA last year alone, had to try to rehome well over a thousand abandoned strays. I say this to the pricks who allowed this to happen... you should be locked in a small room for a month, wallowing in your own faeces, whilst being forced to starve. Rant over...
westernpark Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Well I believe all Dogs should be micro-chipped. People who are on certain types of benefits should not be allowed to buy one either. Anybody who has to give their Dog to a shelter should be banned for at least 10 years(to stop this occurring again). Animal cruelty is the worst. This is the worst case imo - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2518074/RSPCA-inspectors-horror-family-SPARED-jail-leaving-8-puppies-starve-death.html
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Didn't see it but the missus told me enough about it - the penalties for mistreating animals aren't high enough if you ask me. Some horrible people out there. I'll be getting my first dog (black Labrador) hopefully in 5 weeks - going to spoil it rotten
Zingari Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 I really think all dogs should be muzzled and kept on a leash in public places . And even in gardens where postmen delivery men have to gain access .
Guest MattP Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 The whole way we look at dogs is weird now. When I grew up people had a dog and only a few breeds were known, you had an Alsation, a Spaniel, a Labrador or something like that. Now we have moved into these weird times where people buy something you have never heard of, coming from some cross breeding of everything to try and makes the weirdest match to show your friends and it ends up with kids being eaten by something that looks like a Wolf. I agree with Col though, anyone who mistreats a animal for fun needs shooting.
Unabomber Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 I got a beagle jack russell cross last year from a rescue centre and the poor guy had already been taken there twice. Third time lucky though as I treat him like a little legend.

Freeman's Wharfer Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 It's certainly in the last couple of years become more of a problem. One of the biggest changes seems to be the rise in 'status dogs' amongst the lower classes whereby Staffys and Pitbulls have become fashionable. Give someone an animal to look after when they can barely make a success of their own life and the outcome is bound to be disastrous. As ever, the problems are always the owners not the dog. You could take the fiercest dog, train it and treat it kindly from day one and it'll never cause a moment's problem. The first idiot who brings a dog up in a irresponsible way, which goes on to do something terrible, has then tainted the whole breed.
Guest MattP Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 What about cow tipping (no wife jokes please)? Cow tipping is a myth made up by the lower town centre classes, if anyone tells you they have done it they are lying.

Staffs are lovely natured dogs, friendly and love a fuss not to forget great around kids. I've never come across a bad natured one, yet I don't know any pricks who own one. You can take any dog and train it to be vicious, while there is the exception and good responsible owners will take action to reduce the risk of an attack, the problem is usually incapable owners.

They used to be called mongrels. I'd happily have a Labradinger (Labrador Springer cross), they're basically 3/4 size Labradors but 50% more mental and occasionally have the Springer's colours
MPH Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Cow tipping is a myth made up by the lower town centre classes, if anyone tells you they have done it they are lying. I have two friends who told me they did it over here. Two brothers. They said the cow died.
Vlad the Fox Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 I used to have a cross between a Labrador and guinea pig. It had a big head and body with long front legs, but a tiny arse and short back legs, it was like shit off a shovel. It was called a Labraguinea.
Dr The Singh Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 I have two friends who told me they did it over here. Two brothers. They said the cow died. From old age, illness, loneliness, demantia, beef??
Guest MattP Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 A guy told me he tried to cross a Shitsu and a Bulldog. Turned out to be bullshit.
Dr The Singh Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 A guy told me he tried to cross a Shitsu and a Bulldog. Turned out to be bullshit. My estimation has gone down significantly!!
Dr The Singh Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Could it get any lower? Where's White Dee these days, apparently you go down pretty low for her!!!!

Zingari Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 i've had two cocky spaniards and they both were very affectionate.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Dangerous Owner Act needed NOT a Dangerous Dog Act. I have a Golden Retriever and he is amazing, but I would fight tooth and nail if it got attacked by a locked jaw Staffie type... I always wear a belt on my trousers so you just tie a ligature round the Staffies' neck, it would soon let go
Stadt Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 It annoys me when somebody leaves their dog with babies and kids because the dog is 'harmless' - the dog is harmless but if kids pester the dog (especially if it's eating) then it'll retaliate, then all of a sudden it's the dog's fault.
