LCFC31 Posted 8 July 2014 Posted 8 July 2014 Fulham may have spunked £11m on McCormmack but they have also shifted 12 first team players off the wage bill 9 of which were probably on a fair whack. Replacing a £50k p/w player with a £15k p/w saves about £1.75m per year. Presumably they think they could get at least £5m back next season worst case so I can see why they have a bit of a budget. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-fulham/transfers/verein/931/saison_id/2014 McCormack was probably earning close to 30k at Leeds as the next highest earner, Paddy Kenny, was on 10k less that him. Fulham will have given him more as well so he could be on around 40k now anyway.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 July 2014 Posted 8 July 2014 Not a cat in hell's chance McCormack was on anything like 30k at Leeds.

teblin Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 Sure we have been linked to this guy before http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11747/9376742/transfer-news-rotherham-star-kieran-agard-turns-down-offer-of-a-contract-extension Might be more of a Championship signing.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 Medel on loan Inter Milan want him, could be tricky!
lgfualol Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 Inter Milan want him, could be tricky! Why would he want to go to fashionable warm Italy when he could be playing against Hull in the rain?
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 Why would he want to go to fashionable warm Italy when he could be playing against Hull in the rain? To be fair he doesn't look the kind of guy who is massively into fashion or the way he looks... face like a bulldog licking piss off a thistle!
jammie82uk Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 To be fair he doesn't look the kind of guy who is massively into fashion or the way he looks... face like a bulldog licking piss off a thistle! Isn't his nickname pitbull anyway
Steven Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 Why would he want to go to fashionable warm Italy when he could be playing against Hull in the rain? Have you been to Milan in the winter?
sphericalfox Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 Would Demba Ba be completely out of the question? . must be on at least 50k p/w
foxfanazer Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 . must be on at least 50k p/wYes at chelsea. I'd say his days are numbered there so he may have to take a small wage cut. I think it's the sort of player we should be looking at despite the mandatory foxestalk laugh out loud reply

Sorry for the <> but I'd be especially surprised if all of a sudden we were linked with him, given his wages, unlikeihood of reducing those wages, and plenty of clubs who can afford his packet abroad.

Some big examples of it in recent seasons
sphericalfox Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 Promoted teams can and do sign big players. Some big examples of it in recent seasons who's that then?
foxfanazer Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 who's that then?Gaston Ramirez, Gary Medel, Tom Huddlestone etc
AKCJ Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 Gaston Ramirez, Gary Medel, TTom Huddlestone etc The first two are being paid a fortune and Tom Huddlestone isn't a big name.
foxfanazer Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 The first two are being paid a fortune and Tom Huddlestone isn't a big name.Neither is Ba really
sphericalfox Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 Neither is Ba really You're not being serious right?
foxfanazer Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 You're not being serious right? He's a great player don't get me wrong but not for a top four team imoAlso you've only picked up on that bit because I gave examples of big players signing for newly promoted teams when you didn't think I would.
