Sharpe's Fox Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 Victoria Coren is alright. Isn't she married to David Mitchell?
Stadt Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 Yep but I wasn't really taking any notice of herThe men in the background!?
Fox92 Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 Isn't she married to David Mitchell? Yeah! I wouldn't say no, though.
MooseBreath Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 My beef tends to be more about the ingrained gender roles that are a part of life here though - like a woman choosing career over kids getting criticised or a father choosing to stay at home with his kids rather than work. They both cop flak, when it's their choice to make and no one elses business. Who do they "cop flak" from? Earlier you said your problem was that these roles were "enforced" - who by, when does that ever happen? I must be missing a whole section of our society or something because I can't remember a woman ever copping flak for having a career (except justifiably in cases where the child is just thrown into child care, severely limiting the amount of time the parents spend with the child, but then it's a criticism of the parents, not just the mother) and I'm certainly not aware of anything that comes remotely close to enforcement of these roles, except perhaps within some of the third world cultures we've imported which people like you are usually very quick to defend, apparently oblivious to the hypocrisy.
Dr The Singh Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 That's a pretty liberal interpretation of a feminist. I like her actually, comes across lovely when she's on TV. You would bone her!!!
Webbo Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 You would bone her!!! She's the kind of feminist I like, one with big tits.
Dr The Singh Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 She's the kind of feminist I like, one with big tits. I think we need to go on a feminist poon hunt!!
MPH Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 One business idea I have is to open a men's hairdressers that has the same staffing policy as hooters. I think we'd all pay a premium to have a nice head massage by one of these ladies. Wasn't that long ago that there was a topless car wash in.. loughborough, I think it was... they'd charge by the vehicle and they had bus loads of old men turning up!
leicsmac Posted 17 April 2014 Posted 17 April 2014 Who do they "cop flak" from? Earlier you said your problem was that these roles were "enforced" - who by, when does that ever happen? Yeah, perhaps 'enforcement' is a bit strong - there aren't any laws for it in this country any more, after all. But at the same time, are you saying you've never been part of a conversation or seen a media article with comments where a mother has chosen a career over kids or a father vice versa where someone has said..."That's not right, they should be doing *insert societal gender role here*"? It's perpetuated through culture by various media, too. People still compliment Joss Whedon and George RR Martin for making 'strong' female characters rather than playing to the stereotypes, for pity's sake - purely because peoples preconceived ideas of what men and women 'should' do. There's a reason most misogynist jokes involve a kitchen in there somewhere and most misandrist jokes involve knuckle-dragging in there somewhere. People do have the freedom of choice to choose what they want to do here - far more so than in other countries - but that doesn't mean they don't get people tut-tutting and criticism from certain corners for doing it. Take the derision womens football gets on here for instance - yeah, the standard isn't good but the criticism doesn't just stop at the standard of play. So not enforcement, really, but definitely pressure. You don't have to sell me on the beliefs of third world religious zealotry and how it is used to oppress women either - it is bloody disgusting, and if it is discovered over here it should be dealt with. The difference is I believe you think it to be the rule with certain communities here while I think it to be the exception, and we've covered that before so we'll have to continue to agree to disagree.
GingerrrFox Posted 17 April 2014 Posted 17 April 2014 We should start locking our women in cupboards when other men come to visit our house. Make them cover their faces in public and arrange child marriages...real sexist.
MooseBreath Posted 18 April 2014 Posted 18 April 2014 I'm sexist, I only get a hard on for women. Sorry. Implying that women only exist for you to achieve an erection over. Extremely sexist.

Don't forget to scroll down to the end of the story lads for some more equally horrifying pictures.
