Football Manager 2015

I will call them unlucky if I feel they've not done too badly. I cannot do anything but tell them assertively how I feel if they've gone and lost 4-1 at Newcastle regardless of morale. I wonder if it kind of registers that for future reference - if morale is low then I will generally call a team meeting (I'd like to see more detail on these in 16) which tends to build up morale, although it will likely be shot back down again if we lose the next game.

I'll encourage players and say "you've got my support" or whatever it is along those lines in a private conversation if they're well short of form. Eventually though you have to shake things up. I've always found it a bit odd quite how well formation changes work. You can play 4-3-3 for example, it turns to crap and a tweak to 3-4-1-2 will work wonders. The same happened on my Leicester game this season just gone, I was 19th in the league (pathetic given what I'd spent) but a change to 4-4-1-1 and we produced top four form for a good half of the season and ended up finishing 10th.

There's often a bit of luck involved in this game in my opinion but in a relegation battle it really is all about just grabbing that one morale boosting result. I scraped a 0-1 win at Sunderland away with a formation and team that three months later I'd have gone to Sunderland expecting to win pretty comfortably.

Been taken over by a Spanish consortium who "had links in Wales" so wanted Pulis to replace me. Got a bit lucky with the timing because six months earlier and I was out of there, but I've ended up signing a new deal. Really annoyed with the budget though - our finances were precarious (Top had given me a bit too much and I spent it all which is unlike me) but this bloke's come in and immediately got us projecting a profit, projecting me £30mil a year in budgets in the next three seasons - so why on earth have I only got a measly four million to spend this year? I bet you he goes and gives me a load in about November as well when we're actually quite short on players. So many of our squad are on too much. Albrighton is criminally under-rated on this game yet he's on £35k a week!

I've always found criticising any loss when low on morale makes the situation even worse. Sympathising has better results from my experience. What you say in the pre match press conference has an effect on the match too, I always say we fancy our chances against the bigger clubs and write us off against the smaller clubs.

My morale isn't drastically low.

I've added to the team in January and we have managed to pick up some inconsistent results. What annoys me is that my team do really well against teams in the Championship that are top-half etc. However, whenever I play a team who are in a relegation scrap I always lose, just lost to Millwall 4v1 with a ****ing pathetic performance. It's so annoying that keeps happening. I beat a team in the play-offs 2v0 then lose the following week to a crap team 4v1!

HELP PLEASE?! :(

Try changing between standard approach and attacking approach. I always use standard away from home and attacking at home but always fluid. In your case try the standard approach against the lesser teams and attacking against the better teams.

Saw a Youtube video last night of some guy who had taken the team from the town I live nearest (Stamford Daniels) to Champions League winners.

Starting a new save with Inter I reckon.

I need a decent striker to partner Icardi though.

Handanovic

Juan Campagnaro

Jonathon Kondogbia Nagatomo

Kovacic Guarin

Hernanes/Shaqiri

Icardi Palacio

Might go in for Balanta as well, although i'm playing on an updated version of the game and it's tough to get him.

Any other players I should look to get? Wing backs are a bit weak unfortunately.

Sime Vrsaljko is always a good option if you're looking for wing backs. He plays for Sassuolo. I'd recommend Marcelo Meli from Boca Juniors as a cheaper alternative to Kondogbia. Jorge Correa from Velez (I could be wrong) is a brilliant attacking midfielder worth looking at. You've got to take a look at Jonathan Calleri if you're after a striker, again he plays for Boca Juniors. Alternatively you could have a look at Erik from Gouios (or however you spell it) from Brazil. Its also worth keeping tabs on Amartey from FC Kobenhavn and Lacazette from Lyon.

Keep your eyes on PSG in the hope that they transfer list a gem or two, they always do. Be it Digne, Marquinhos or Verratti. They are all top class for any team in the world.

I was Inter and I did awfully. signed Balanta too.

The obvious shout for a forward is Fierro.

Ooof Vrsaljko, now you're talking.

Proper FM legend. He was my captain on FM11 I think when Leicester won the Champions League lol

Kondogbia is already at Inter on my save, i'm using LFC Marshall's update.

I would rather sign someone who'll have a bigger impact instantly than Fierro. Icardi and Palacio are the only strikers of note I have. Could do with someone who can come straight in as a key player.

I was drawn to inter puely because of Kovacic, Kondogbia and Icardi. I've got a lot of talented central midfielders, a great goalkeeper, a decent defence but a fairly dire strike force. I'll keep you posted, I just beat Porto 4-0 in a pre-season game :)

Can you afford Gabriel Barbosa?

Well im trying to cut the wage bill so if some players go then perhaps. He seems to be a bit of an animal!

Like I said have a look at Calleri from Boca. He has got 3.5 stars ability and 5 stars potential, failing that Lacazette is probably your best bet with 4 stars ability. The other player I mentioned, Erik, is also good enough immediately.

I managed to keep FC United up in the Champ quite comfortably in the end. Change of tactics/approach and signings in January, along with Mason Bennett's 20+ goals helped me stay up.

16 games into the new season and I am second. Got some great signings on the cheap and I think I could possibly get into the play-offs despite being predicted 22nd. Oh, and I have 3 games in hand over everyone because I temporarily play at the Macron stadium as my 5000 seater stadium is getting 2793 seats extra. Very annoying as I sometimes play 3 games in a week and the board keep on upgrading the stadium (fourth time now). I want them to upgrade the training facilities which are still 1star!!

Ask them to upgrade the training facilities then.

Don't use the star ratings as a barometer of how good players are

Star ratings are only compared to players currently at the club you are managing. I always shortlist potential signings and then start a new game and scout them in comparison to the best players in the world. For example, if I want a striker I will compile a shortlist and then set up a game as Barcelona manager as they have the best strikers, and scout them. They will be compared to the likes of Suarez, Messi and Neymar. If star ratings match then I know I've got to sign them. Its a slight cheat but its worth doing if you want the best.

Ended up getting the sack from Leicester. Genuinely had a streak of bad luck that made even parts of last season look normal.

Walked into the Blackburn job within a week. They'd picked up 7 points from 14 games, sat bottom of the Championship and hadn't even won yet. 9 games later and I'm 17th, won 6, drawn 2 and lost 1. Surprised it's gone quite this well. Granted their team is never the worst in the Championship but the lack of depth is appalling. Immediately had to bring in a few loans and frees. Might be too early to talk of promotion but I've won five in a row now and if the Mackay-Steven & Rantie deliver when they sign in January then it can't be yet ruled out. Only thing I'd say is that I've not really had any strikingly tough opposition. Did beat leaders Reading though.

So you've got 23 games to get from 17th to 6th? I wouldn't count your chickens just yet mate, you're on 27 points if my calculations are correct, which means you're gonna need close to 50 points from your last 23 to get into the top 6. Keep me updated on how you get on, I love football manager stories. Good luck.

I don't think I'll do it but I wouldn't rule us out. They've given me even more money just for asking for a top half finish in January. Getting Eugenio Mena on loan lol! I'm absolutely stunned at how well this one has gone.

I cant get rid of anybody.

Inter are shelllng out some serious wages here yet the owner is somehow tighter than a duck's arse when it comes to new signings.
