RoboFox Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 £10.19 in current steam sale. also "borrowed" the other half's laptop so i may be able to see some of the 3D engine too! all over this! finish work at 1 so i am sitting here doing pre game research! Time to save leicester from relegation. does this one have its own training schedules or has that now gone forever? I bought the game a few weeks ago after caving in (I vowed after FM12 not to get another for a while, I've been playing FM / CM since CM2 in '96) I was surprised about in-depth the training can be, in terms of match preparation, individual training etc. and I find it very tedious. Does anyone bother with this? Maybe I haven't got the knack of it yet, but it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference. I tend to just go with the recommendations of the coaching staff. I also find that I constantly have to tinker with the tactics from game to game, which I quite like... In previous versions I'd start with a second or third division team and change to one or two formations that worked once a season, ploughing through seasons winning everything. Having said that, it's quite hard to tell when your changes are really having an effect or not. It's definitely more difficult than it has been in the past... I'm in my second season with RB Leipzig playing in the Bundesliga after getting them promoted in the first season. They've got a young, decent side and a bit of cash, but I find myself struggling in season two. I feel myself regressing back to the teenage me that used to get really, really f**ked off and have to restrain myself from attacking inanimate objects.

You set general squad training and match day training, and you can give players individual attributes/positions to train but gone are the "schedules" that were around a few years ago
FoxLAD Posted 6 June 2015 Posted 6 June 2015 After getting a bit board with doing the same thing (starting with a small club and make them massive) I've decided to become Europa Cup standard teams and win everything in their respective leagues. For now I've started as Spurs. Transfers: In Fierro - 5.5M Balanta - 9M Romero - 9.5m Rafina (loan) Patrick Roberts - 11M George Williams (loan) Zach Clough 5.5M Out: Adebayor 6.5m Vertongen - 18.5 Capoue - 13M Won my first game 3-2 away at Arsenal
Grantham Fox Posted 6 June 2015 Posted 6 June 2015 I am shocking at this. I can't find a tactic that is hugely successful for any level club, struggle against any team, even poor teams when I'm loads better than them, but I can't get anything to work. Anyone got any ideas, as to tactics and player instructions?
Jam Posted 6 June 2015 Posted 6 June 2015 Finally bought myself a new laptop today, and of course purchased Football Manager 2015 on steam. The last iteration of this series I played was 2009 during my uni days. Anything tips or things i need to know about FM these days? I presume you still download badges and facepacks from fmbase? Thanks guys
Stadt Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 In midfield you'll need at least one defend duty (not on a ball winning midfielder), don't put all of your defenders on a defend duty, have variation with duties so don't have two wingers on support fur example. Don't have too many team instructions.
Jam Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 Thankyou that's really helpful. I've just downloaded the db11 facepack as it looked the most popular? And the logo pack off passion4fm. Any other suggestions for graphics?
BigLeicesterFan Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 The amount of times my team scores, and then a minute later the other team scores in this game is a bit of a joke.
Frost Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 Okay so from the same game save with Valerenga I got the Inter job (languishing in 12th but won the league the season before). Went on a spending spree, including the purchase of a regen Spanish striker from Barca for £32m. Won the league the following season but now he wants to go to Real Madrid, I rejected the bid and he made an outburst on social media apparently so I fined him 2 weeks wages. Hilarious
ramboacdc Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 4 games from the end of my 2nd season. jesus there is a gulf in class in this game. i survived 7 points clear last season but still took some major 6-7-8 goal hammerings away at the bigger boys. I am now 4 points clear with 4 games left. the finances are through the floor (overspending on wages by 300k per week, clubs debt been restructured more times than playdough) and a lot of major players are out of contract at the end of this season. think i may lose nugent, cambiasso, schlupp and a couple more. I think the third season will be a relegation but it has been a learning curve.
RonnieTodger Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 Keep getting hammered away at any of the big teams with Leicester. Have plenty of the ball but it's constantly 4+ conceded. Some embarrassing goalkeeping doesnt help.
FoxLAD Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 in 2020 in my Crewe save and just moved into a brand spanking new stadium... Dario Gradi Park!!!
Guest Mee-9 Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 Started with Leicester, finished the first season 10th, then in the second season finished 6th. Missed out on european football on the last day of the season. Resigned due to boredom, then took palace over in the championship. 7 games in they were 15th, got them promoted. Got a nice 19m transfer budget, sold a few players for well over the odds. Best bit of business was Angelo Henriquez on a free, couldn't even get a work permit for him, loaned him out for a few months then sold him at the end of the season for 10m.
Brainy Posted 12 June 2015 Posted 12 June 2015 Got my Sparta Prague legacy (FM13) game back, unfortunately just 20 years further back than where I had got to. So it means Sparta Prague will never have won the CL. One day...
Dan Posted 13 June 2015 Posted 13 June 2015 Against all odds I've got to the League Cup final despite losing the first leg 0-2 to Swansea. Can't believe I won 1-4 in Wales. Man Utd in the final though. We'll be absolutely spanked. Leicester are terrible on 15.3.
RonnieTodger Posted 13 June 2015 Posted 13 June 2015 What are you/aren't you doing differently? I don't know, I've tried all sorts whether it's going out and taking them on, or sitting back. Neither of them to the extreme, but I just can't get it right. Yet when I play them at home, we're well in the game. I came 10th but still conceded 6 at Chelsea and United In the 2nd season I was struggling but I started a Brondby save which is much more fun.

Look at who's vacating space in dangerous areas, Type in "school of the defensive arts" and go on the si forums, there's good pointers about playing defensively
Dan Posted 14 June 2015 Posted 14 June 2015 Lost the final 4-0. Shocking display. Cambiasso red carded after just 20 minutes which about killed the whole cup run. What do you lot make to this bloke? He's probably the best youngster I've ever had come through at Leicester (which isn't saying a lot)
Finnegan Posted 14 June 2015 Posted 14 June 2015 If I saw him at another club I wouldn't sign him. Even if he has high PA, his CA is so low that you've got way too much to do. No speed, no flair, no anticipation, no bravery, no off the ball movement. Your best bet is to retrain him as a DMC and use his base tackling as a starting point. Even then, best case scenario, you have a world class technical anchor who's an absolute wuss.
Richard Posted 14 June 2015 Posted 14 June 2015 Had this lad come through after the first season, being tutored by Schwarzer (first by Schmeichel but they fell out, still got his determination up a few points first though)
