Football Manager 2015

I've had the youth intake come through at Tottenham and I've got a 15 year old striker with world class potential called Cameron Scorer, Scorer scores! lol

Star ratings are only compared to players currently at the club you are managing. I always shortlist potential signings and then start a new game and scout them in comparison to the best players in the world. For example, if I want a striker I will compile a shortlist and then set up a game as Barcelona manager as they have the best strikers, and scout them. They will be compared to the likes of Suarez, Messi and Neymar. If star ratings match then I know I've got to sign them. Its a slight cheat but its worth doing if you want the best.

Pretty sure the star ratings you see are affected by reputation of the club, not the skill of the players

You could have a 5 star centre back with 8 anticipation and 11 positioning, yeah it says he's world class but in reality he'll cost you.

The star ratings are according to your assistant manager, if his judging PP and PA are poor then you're shafting yourself, attributes are more important.

First few games have been a bit iffy. Everyone seems desperate for a holiday because they either get sent off or get injured.

Despite Icardi picking up a broken collarbone we're 6th but about a point off 2nd. Juve have 7 wins from 7 games, they're too good and are slapping teams all over the place.

Conceding a last minute equaliser to Napoli away was heartbreaking.

No, they're not. Scouts do scout reports unless you ask your assistant to do them.

Ask them to upgrade the training facilities then.

I have 100's of times but they say they don't have enough money. My youth facilities were almost complete for their upgrade, then the board cancelled the plans so that they could upgrade the stadium instead.

I'm praying that some Saudi  oil tycoon takes them over because I need the money to invest big time. It's so frustrating.

I beat promotion rivals Brighton 4v0 at home, best performance of the season and their manager, Gary Cahill, was in "disbelief" that they failed to win the game.  lol

EDIT: I went to the board and I used a different excuse to upgrade the facilities. I normally use the "keep up with our rivals". This time I used the "attract better players" and it worked! ... though I bet the facilities will go from a one star to one-half.

Who do you think is doing the star reports when they're a part of your squad?

Yes I know that is the assistant manager but I have been talking about scout reports for the entire duration of the debate. By that I mean when a player is at another club and not the one you are managing. Scout reports and coach reports are two completely different things.

Inter have binned me :(

Couldn't get a new striker in and Icardi broke his collarbone after 3 games (having scored 5 goals).

Handanovic is an utter animal though. Saves everything.

I think I might start a challenge.

Maybe to try and win the league in 3 countries with teams that have never done it before in the same save having started out without a job.

Big clubs are generally a nightmare for me because you have to hit the ground running, and I’m often quite a slow starter. Inter Milan was never ending well for me. Went through a very similar kind of save to AKCJ by the sounds of things. Just seems like no matter what you do it doesn’t work. Some of the beatings I took at Inter were absolutely laughable. I won more than I lost but when I lost, it was unbelievable. 7-2 at Lazio & being 5 down at Dnipro before half time come to mind.

A good club to manage in my opinion are Udinese. Fantastic scouting system (as we’ve had drilled into our heads on here since about April 2013), a lot of good young players as a result, expectations are reasonable and you do end up with a lot of money in the end. I had a cracking save with them on 14, I just could not overthrow Juventus. I was comfortable in 2nd every season but Juve were always just that step too far. I’d look at them though seriously.

I don't know how you can start with that Inter side and not beat most of Serie A. Fair enough if you're struggling with Juve, Roma and Napoli but the rest of the league is shit.

Posted

Neither do I. For some reason just hardly anything worked with them.

I'm pretty sure I beat Roma & Napoli. It was the dross of the league giving me problems.

I'm half tempted to try it again if I get bored of Blackburn. It all went horribly wrong pretty early on for me and it just seemed like no matter what was done, we'd either fall apart defensively or miss sitters. Icardi was absolutely garbage for me. I don't know how I can compensate for a forward who many regard as one of the best on the game missing sitters.

Injuries, an awful budget, Juventus and abysmal squad depth.

It's not like I was miles off, I was 5th going into the game that I got sacked after (Atlanta at home). Plus i'd played Milan, Juve and Napoli away.

Although I got the sack for "poor squad harmony" after telling Gary Medel to do one.

Yeah, gotta be honest, getting sacked immediately by Inter then asking for a challenge is a bit brave.

Maybe just try being PSG or something.

lol Alright Sir Alex, calm down.

Hate to think how many hours I have put into my FM careers. I started way back with Champ Man 93 by Domark. I could write a book on my experiences!

I think my first was CM04. Newcastle were amazing.

You can't put it down to Juventus if you're 5th.

Honestly it's not hard, the game could be clearer in helping to create tactics with players roles and how they interact with each other and team instructions.

As long as you have a tactic that's decent, with nothing glaringly wrong and you sign better players than you have you'll be mostly successful.

I've only had two football manager games (well three, but I was too young to understand fm12) and I've played for over 1000+ hours lol

Championship Manager 2 for me. 1995/96. My next after that was CM00/01 and 03/04 after that. Then FM08,09,10,12 and 15 after that.
