Stadt Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 It's the pot calling the kettle black in the football manager thread, we've put far too much into this game so calling someone else sad is hypocritical
AKCJ Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 It's the pot calling the kettle black in the football manager thread, we've put far too much into this game so calling someone else sad is hypocritical There's nothing wrong with playing the game, just his pathetic arrogance.
Stadt Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 You called him Sir Alex cos he's good at the game and finds it easy, he called you Ian Holloway cos you struggle, hardly arrogance, Finners doesn't always empathise with players who struggle but it's hardly pathetic arrogance
AKCJ Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Started a save with Leicester and Okazaki is bossing it. You called him Sir Alex cos he's good at the game and finds it easy, he called you Ian Holloway cos you struggle, hardly arrogance, Finners doesn't always empathise with players who struggle but it's hardly pathetic arrogance Where i'm from that's known as arrogance
Dan Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 WE DON'T TAKE KAHNDLY TO PEOPLE WHO ARE ARROGANT ABOUT FM ROUND HEEERE
Dan Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Already regretting not going and buying Tom Lees for £250k when I had the chance. Grant Hanley's been sent off three times in fifteen games for me and has the cheek to go off on one when he gets fined the third time despite warnings? This is going well, but the discipline here is atrocious. I've had six red cards already.

This is going well, but the discipline here is atrocious. I've had six red cards already. Funny you should say that because Hanley is a dirty player in real life. In the football manager world dirtiness is called a competitive streak and is one of the six hidden attributes. The others are adaptability, consistency, ability to perform in high pressure games, injury proneness and versatility. There is no 1-20 rating on these and the only way you can find out if any of your players / potential signings have any of them is by scout reports or coach reports. In the case of a dirty player it will say "this player has a competitive streak which can lead to him breaking the rules" or something along those lines in the scout / coach report. Unfortunately there isn't a lot you can do about it and you have effectively fined a player for being himself, or at least that's the way he would have looked at it. For example you wouldn't fine someone who struggles to adapt to living in the country. The only way to avoid players like this is by offloading them or not signing them. In my current save Eder Alvaraz Balanta has a "competitive streak" and I wouldn't change him for the world, I certainly wouldn't fine him for getting sent off as I knew what to expect before I signed him.
Finnegan Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Insecure enough about inability to play a computer game that gets touchy on the internet. Calls someone else little boy. I love this place sometimes. Good grief.
Stadt Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Aggression does go down if they're fined continually, risks upsetting them though

I'd call having a competitive streak an asset if it wasn't for this drawback. I can accept the odd red card - but three red cards in as many months? That's absolutely ridiculous. and I'm not having it. Despite some high mental stats I intend to improve on Hanley, promotion or not. He's not been bad for me other than this. It's not even aggression either - it's been two bookings every time. It's just stupid, avoidable fouls. Oh, and that's another red card. This is absolutely ridiculous. Seven red cards in less than half a season and not a single one was a straight red either. Brain-dead bunch of twats. We're still a work in progress really. I think if I went up I'd be binned straight back down if I wasn't given a fair bit of money. As a side note... I'm in my third season on this game and I might be about to have to endure the second takeover already Blackburn managing to bin both Billy Davies & The Venky's in one season whilst gaining my services. That's how you do it.

Good grief. Who says that i'm insecure, have an inability to play football manager or get touchy?! If I think you're being a twat i'll call you one. Grow up sunshine, you're acting like a right child lol

That's how you do it. I'm sure the red card stage will pass for you in time, I've gone through periods myself where my team gain a considerable amount of red cards and I've learnt that it passes. Fining players for getting sent off isn't something I'd do though, I'd just give them warnings and if it continues to occur I'd drop them. I've never experienced a takeover before but I hear that they tend to sack the manager in charge to get their own man in most cases. How's it coming along anyway? Are playoffs still achievable? I'm having a cracking run as Tottenham manager, I took over around Christmas time when we were mid table and now we are sitting pretty in fourth with a Europa League semi final awaiting us against Liverpool. Christian Eriksen is an absolute beast.

Christian Eriksen is an absolute beast. I don't fine them straight up (unless it was for something stupid such as diving when on a yellow) but after two warnings I had to do something about it. I've not really got the depth to drop him either. We've stumbled a little but I still wouldn't have us ruled out. Just lost 4-0 at 6th placed Sheffield Wednesday though. My luck with injuries & suspensions with these has been frankly dire. They often talk of sacking you but if you've done well then you'll get away with it. Get much money at Spurs?
Dan Posted 28 June 2015 Posted 28 June 2015 Oh my god he's been sent off again. He's picked up four red cards in less than half a season. He's being sold. Absolute liability.

In the interview I told them that the transfer and wage budgets weren't anywhere near as high as they needed to be and I ended up getting a 25 million warchest with half a million wage budget! I sacrificed about two hundred grand from my wage budget and took my transfer budget up to about 33 million or something. Signed Balanta, Meli, Konoplyanka, Correa and Jimenez.
maynefox Posted 28 June 2015 Posted 28 June 2015 QPR activated Mason Bennett's release clause of £1.1m ... he was worth £3.2m because he was bossing the Championship ... I'm still top of the league in mid-Feb, but I don't think I can hold out, my second best striker has just broken his foot. I've splashed out on a Coventry striker from League 1 for £800k, as you can expect he's pretty sh|te but he does a job!
Dan Posted 28 June 2015 Posted 28 June 2015 The injuries and suspensions are making this game literally unenjoyable. We've hit a bad patch but it's always going to happen when you can't even name a full bench without sticking a load of non-league standard twenty year olds on there. I can accept the odd injury and red card but this is absolutely taking the piss. Nine red cards in half a season? At least one injury every game? It's shite. Half tempted to just holiday the rest of this season. In the process of a board takeover here. Hope they're a bit more generous with my staff allowances.

The fact that you can't name a full strength bench must be contributing to the amount of injuries your squad is being exposed to. Players get tired and more prone to injuries because you just haven't got the players to rotate them and give them a rest, making the situation you find yourself in a vicious cycle that keeps repeating itself. I think Hanley has got a lot to answer for, with the injuries your squad is sustaining the last thing you need is players being suspended. I'd sack off Hanley personally and make it unequivocally clear to the board that a major squad overhaul is needed and investment must be guaranteed as it sounds like you lack squad depth.
AKCJ Posted 28 June 2015 Posted 28 June 2015 Okazaki is a bloody machine. 20 league goals by February atm.
AKCJ Posted 28 June 2015 Posted 28 June 2015 Ahh ****. Don't know what's happened here but the game has decided to put itself to play the full game without an option of changing the highlights back to 'key'. Any ideas? Edit; got to half time and started the second half and it went back to normal. Has this happened to anyone else before?
maynefox Posted 28 June 2015 Posted 28 June 2015 won the Championship with FC UNITED They've given me a tasty £20m transfer budget for next season ... I was expecting £10m max, so I'm quite happy about that!
