kingcarr21 Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 Uefa will propose a new rule to the International Football Association Board (IFAB) at the start of next year that would see players temporarily removed from the pitch if a foul they have committed injures another player. Do you agree with the proposal? If not, what action would you prefer to see taken? Can any of you see this being a positive?? Surely players would just 'fake' injury in order to remove an effective player from the game
RowlattsFox Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 Sort of story you would see on April fools. You can injure someone without it being a foul. Do they get paid to come up with this rubbish?
davieG Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 Well I presume it means they will have to go off and come on like the injured player which I think is a sound idea. Not that I think injured players going off after they've received treatment serves any purpose as the time has already been wasted whilst they're attended to on the pitch. But i've always thought it unfair that an injured player as a result of a foul goes off and the perpetrator carries on playing.
RowlattsFox Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 Having read it a bit more, it's not initially what I thought but still pretty pointless. Assume keepers will get away with going off?

Fox in the North Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 Why not have the people rolling around injured removed from the pitch? If they're in that much pain they can't possibly be allowed back on the pitch. It might stop the pathetic but amazing 360 somersaults and crys of agony.
bmt Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 Who is the football pundit who always goes on about how unfair it is a player being treated for an injury committed by a foul is off the pitch whilst the culprit is still on? Must say in contrast to the rest of you, with the exception of a goalkeeper, I think it is a fair idea.
Finnegan Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 Hahaha. I have this brilliant image of Busquets following Ronaldo round the pitch, bumping in to him and jumping on the floor "injured" at opportune moments.
lcfc1994 Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 Wes Morgan goes up to head the ball at a corner, misses and headbutts the keeper. They both sit off the pitch whilst the keeper has his nose bleed seen too. Meanwhile play goes on with no goalkeeper

yorkie1999 Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 So if you want Suarez of the pitch, draw a foul and make sure you roll about a bit....
Kitchandro Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 Far too simplistic. Stupid idea that clearly hasn't been thought out properly.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 Just do away with taking anyone off the pitch for any reason. Not hard
lc4lcfc Posted 15 May 2014 Posted 15 May 2014 I can see the idea behind it but as some one else has said they get initial treatment on the pitch which wastes time. If they need to leave the field leave them off. Surely on the same basis a "rolling sub" injured player off player off the bench temporarily would be just as un/practical. (I'm not advocating it)
dsr-burnley Posted 16 May 2014 Posted 16 May 2014 It's a fair idea - but to be workable, it relies on footballers to be honest, and not to feign injury. Anyone think that'll happen?

(I'm not advocating it) I actually quite like that idea, no stoppages for injuries just rolling subs, be like playing 5 a side, in fact when you think about it I have only ever seen players in 5 a side/Sunday League actually need to be helped off the pitch in cases of broken legs, any other injury they just get up and get off the pitch, rolling sub or normal sub, at no other level of the sport do we see such a low pain threshold. Personally I think this rule is dumb, but it is only to counteract the ridiculousness of an even dumber rule, which is only brought in because professional sportsmen are pathetic cheats. My rule would be, if the physio needs to actually come on the pitch to treat someone then they are too injured to play on and must therefore be substituted, otherwise just man the fvck up and play on. if you need a quick rub down or spray, then pop over to the bench and get it, and I would happily see that incorporated with rolling subs, managed by the fourth official, so no stoppages for subs, no stoppages for injuries, you want to make a rolling sub just get on with it and do it, none of this slowly walking off the pitch shaking hands with everyone on the way with 2 minutes left on the clock.
DennisNedry Posted 16 May 2014 Posted 16 May 2014 Awful, awful idea. Playacting is already embarrassing, this rule would take it to crazy new levels.

Not a chance, this rule has been brought in because we already had a rule to try and stop cheating and play acting, they are just really missing the point, the more stupid rules like this they bring in, the more players will try and exploit them.
